AMY GOODMAN: So, that is Sandy Bland herself, recorded in a voicemail message to her friend. Sharon, she had a $5,000 bond set? And did you understand that weekend what was happening about your sister being in jail? Had you, actually, yourself, talked to her?

SHARON COOPER: I did not, myself, speak with her; however, my older sister spoke with her. She spoke with her roughly at about 1:50 on Saturday afternoon, where she essentially shared the very same thing that you hear in that voicemail. She does say that she was stopped for a failure to signal a lane change and that she had a $5,000 bail, which of course meant that she needed $500 bond. And my sister told her, "Absolutely, I will get with the rest of the sisters and work expeditiously to get you out of there." And she said, "OK, totally understand." And to be honest with you, that voicemail there simply corroborates what’s on the dash cam, which is simply a disbelief that she’s in there with a $5,000 bond for a routine traffic stop. http://www.democracynow.org/2015/7/24/sandra_bland_s_sister_responds_to

So far, I find she had phone contact with the following. Yet she hadn't heard back from any of them. Or anyone else....

Friday
*unsure of time Bail Bondsman, but “I talked to her when she first went to jail,” Joe Booker of Hempstead told The Daily Beast on Thursday. “I called her mother for her.”

10:25pm L Mosley, Friend she was staying with

Saturday:
VM left for L Mosley saying she just able to see the judge and $5000 bond * he had 2 missed calls, so 1 went to vm

1:50pm called sister

Having watched the video several times, it seems clear to me that she immediately provoked the officer. We do not know what she did while driving that prompting being pulled over, because improper signaling isn't typically a guarantee for being stopped. She may have been swerving in and out of lanes, or switching back and forth in a reckless manner.

If you watched the whole video, then you would have seen that none of that happened. The police officer never said that she was swerving in and out of lanes, or driving in a reckless manner. So why are you bring up a hypothetical that you can see clearly didn't happen?

THIS IS SO DISTURBING TO ME....

AMY GOODMAN: I want to read from the text exchange between Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis and you, Sandra Bland’s family attorney, Cannon Lambert. It is a remarkable series of texts. Mathis writes, "Looking at the autopsy results and toxicology it appears that she may have swallowed a large quantity of marijuana or smoke[d] [it] in the jail. Since your clients have possession of Ms Bland’s body, I must ask that it not be disturbed anymore [t]han necessary and that a proper chain of custody be kept so that she will be available for future examination by qualified experts. This will of course be very relevant in any future criminal or civil litigation and since the potential evidence is in your possession, custody and control..."

Then you respond saying, quote, "Why did Ranger Ellison release her body to us if they or you needed her to be preserved in a particular state? Wouldn’t they have done all they needed to do regarding your criminal investigation prior to releasing her to us? Please advise."

Mathis then explains, saying, quote, "They were trying to accommodate the family. Who did the autopsy here? Perhaps it can be avoided."

Lambert says, quote, "I expressly asked Ranger Ellison if she was ready for release and he told me that she had been released by Harris county coroner."

Finally, Mathis writes, quote, "She was. The tests they need to conduct now are not customarily done in in[-]custody deaths, but the large amounts of drugs in her body would need another procedure. If you can share your autopsy results or allow us to talk to your expert we may be able to work things out. No one had any idea she would’ve been smoking that much marijuana or possibly ingested it during the stop."

So this is a series of texts between you, Cannon Lambert, and the district attorney. How unusual is this? And are you going to be conducting a second autopsy?

Somehow they are suspecting from the tox results, that she either smoked or ingested a large amount of cannabis while incarcerated. HUH? This is interesting.....stay tuned. JMO

I read early on (after autopsy) about large amount of marijuana in her body. I thought about it for about 5 seconds and then something else entered my mind. :) But now reading this again and I am now thinking that she MAY have (not did) swallowed or eaten what she had on her, if that is the case maybe that is why he was asking her if she was alright. just a thought idk jmo.

Which is it smoked/ingested in jail or at the stop? This is so wrong and very unprofessional Period.

He didnt bring up that she ran a stop sign right in front of him, got his attention and he made a u-turn and speed up to her in less than a minute, but it happen. ws sandra bland ran stop sign 118 on video.JPG

Here's a little insight into why she may have been depressed: She had been trying to call the man she had moved in with and the calls kept going to voice mail. She made the statement that "He said he'd be here in an hour and it's been days".

Pyle, who was in the Waller County Jail because of unpaid parking tickets,

One woman in jail for failure to use her turn signal, and another for unpaid parking tickets. Thats the type of stuff people go to jail in America for.

Yes. That is a possibility, but at intake there is no indication that she was believed to be high or under the influence. ??? Wouldn't consuming a wad of pot make her act and look really high? And wouldn't an observer smell it, either on her breath, if ingested, or her clothing, if it was smoked? Puzzling. How was her Tox level so high after 3 days in jail? JMO

Also on Friday, the Texas attorney general's office released Waller County's custodial death report, which provides the most precise details about Bland's arrest and jail processing.

Jails and law enforcement agencies in Texas are required to file reports on anyone who dies after being taken into police custody. http://www.texastribune.org/2015/07/24/officials-release-sandra-bland-autopsy-report/

See page 3 of the report, shows times. I haven't seen the 2/3 hours time lapse, but this is a legal doc.

:cop: Can't do the time, don't do the crime.... Respectfully BBM.... ^^^^ those are examples of breaking the law, and what happens when you do. :copcar:

Well, marijuana is still illegal in all states, because it is illegal federally still. Regardless of states jumping ahead and declaring legality by state, the federal law overrules.

The Federal Government has stated that they rely on state and local law enforcement agencies to enforce their own narcotics laws, and as long as states adequately regulate and control marijuana activities, they will continue to leave enforcement up to the states. So yes, marijuana use is legal in many states.

1. THC is Absorbed Differently

Why are marijuana-infused edibles typically so much stronger than smoked or vaporized cannabis?

https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabi...ifferences-between-marijuana-edibles-and-flow

............................................

Is Eating Marijuana Really Riskier Than Smoking It?

With smoking, the peak blood levels happen within 3-10 minutes, and with eating, it’s 1-3 hours.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/alicegw...ing-marijuana-really-riskier-than-smoking-it/

...........................................

Because THC takes much longer to reach the brain when the chemical is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, as opposed to through the lungs, edibles may also lead to dose-control difficulties. Users may take more than they intend to as they wait to feel an effect. Inexperienced users are more likely to feel the acute negative effects of marijuana intoxication, including anxiety and panic, and Hall said widespread use of edibles might cause an increase in unpleasant experiences with THC.

Yes and yes again. The pro weed crowd will not accept this fact. Weed user violence stats have markedly increased in the last few years. I don't know if the SPLC reports such facts so it might fall on deaf ears.

Like this? Thats the same nonsense that people have been saying for 80 years. Nothing is changed.

Does anyone know at what point in the altercation, the alleged kick took place? BE told her that she was under arrest while she was still sitting in the car. Did the kick take place while she was sitting in the car? Her "arrest" and charge were reportedly for assaulting a public servant. But it appears that the kick happened after she was arrested. So for what was she originally arrested?

As of june 19,2015 it looks like 4 states allow recreational use and 18 allow for medical use, less then half doesn't seem to be many to me and medical uses doesn't really count to me either so to me there are 4 states that allow the use of marijuana, having prescription for something is different then just buying it on the street. jmo idk

For almost 18 grisly minutes, Eugene savaged his victim, punching him and stripping the man’s pants before gnawing off the homeless man’s face — all as cars and cyclists rolled by on the busy causeway on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

The toxicology report has come in on Rudy Eugene, the perpetrator of a brutal face-eating attack on a Miami causeway that left a homeless man permanently disfigured. After weeks of breathless speculation about the drugs that could have caused this case of zombie cannibalism — namely so-called bath salts — the Miami-Dade medical examiner found no such drug in Eugene’s system.

The sole substance detected? Marijuana.

She did make the choice to end her life and it could have happened anywhere but she was on her way to a new job and by the accounts of family and friends was happy with her lot in life.
Did you watch the video?
He told her she was under arrest during the struggle at the car but refused to tell her why. He later said she kicked him during the arrest.
He had to have a reason for his actions and who knows if he was telling the truth.

It is my belief that he was at fault for this situation so yes I blame him. At the very least he didn't help the situation. IMO

And even if he is telling the truth, there is no way in hell that charge would have held up in court. By his own admission he had no injury, and no proof off the assault. The charges would have been dropped.

I'm so tired of cops who arrest people on frivolous charges. Then a week later the charges are dropped for lack of evidence. But the person still had to spend a week in jail. There should be penalties for any cop who arrests a person without adequate proof.

If I were him I would be feeling a lot of remorse about now. IMO

He doesn't strike me as the type of person who would be feeling any remorse. If he had any empathy like that, he would never have escalated the whole thing the way he did.
