I think this should be charged as a hate crime. It was hate against women, imo.

The hate crime law is so laughable that the government and the departments that cover hate crimes should be arrested. Seriously.

Any intentional murder that wasn't done in direct self defense should be a hate crime.

Example. Gang bangers that kill their foes for simply being in a different gang, should be considered a hate crime. A sad person that kills a happy looking person for the sake of them looking too happy in the killers eyes should be a hate crime. Jmo.

I can give examples of hate crimes all day long. But the government designates hate crimes as something else which imo is wrong.

Because every senseless murder or assault is a hate crime. Jmo.

I think every murder or assault is a hate crime, but that's just me.. They're all senseless and stupid..
But I'll admit I've never heard of anyone getting shot over turning down some crude sexual proposition. Shot for doing it I've heard of, I guess some people have risen to heights of asininity.

This was no road rage. I think we all know why she was shot.

A United States Marine accused of killing of a University of North Texas student will go before a judge in Arizona on Thursday. Eric Jamal Johnson, 20, is set for a 2 p.m. extradition hearing in Yuma County Justice Court. Court records indicate he does not have an attorney yet. If he waives extradition, the Fort Worth native will return to Denton County to face a first-degree murder charge...

On Wednesday, detectives confirmed they have spoken with the four other occupants of the Honda Pilot, and no one is facing charges except for Johnson...

Johnson is still on active duty, but that could change due to the severity of the charge, a Marines spokesperson told WFAA.

You've never heard of a man reacting violently because he was rejected? Because his ego was bruised?

This only happens when there is a history between the man and the woman. But if a man invites a women to have sex with him after a few seconds of conversation, he is very likely to have a 95%+ rejection rate. So if this is Eric Johnson's modus operandi then he would have been rejected by perhaps hundreds of women. So why does he suddenly kill Sara when he hasn't killed any other woman who rejected him?

One or two of the articles mentioned that the 2 groups were at the same party earlier in the night. I wonder if the shooter maybe tried talking to them at the party or something? Maybe they even followed them? IDK

We can only speculate... so I will. If it was a car full of just girls this doesn't happen IMO. It happened because the guy/s spoke up (we know this is true) and so the guys in the other car were "disrespected" and had to prove their manhood. They were probably all under the influence of something and Johnson decided he had to "keep it real".

Someone asked earlier where people get the idea to solve small disagreements with guns.

There is an entire culture that preaches this. (This comment has nothing to do with race, please do not reply to it as if it does.) A disturbingly large amount of young people are absolutely entrenched in this culture. And yet somehow everyone (in that culture) acts shocked when someone actually practices what is being constantly preached.

Aaron Hernandez is the perfect example of what you are describing. A young man ACCIDENTALLY brushed by him in a Boston club and Aaron's drink was slightly spilled. So he followed the young man's car and shot him in the head for that so called 'disrespect.' Hernandez had a mansion, a 10 million dollar NFL contract, a beautiful gf and a new precious baby, and he threw it all away because someone made him spill his drink. It is so unreal.

This is so sad.

I also don't see this as a "road rage" situation. I feel so horrible that this promising young woman ran into a monster that night. If it wasn't her, it would have been another young woman. He obviously felt what this young woman owed him. He was rejected and he took her life. <Self modslip>

R.I.P. Sara. I am so sorry. Fly high, Angel.

I've heard it all believe me, but I still have a hard time believing this. Maybe it's because I don't get that way myself, I'll be sad or depressed. I save violence for defense of others only when there's no other way out. That's the only time a fight's that's worth getting into..

Men only kill woman they know? He may have killed Sara and not other women because:
1. He didn't have a gun on him the other times
2. He wasn't surrounded by his friends the other times
3. The other girls who rejected him did it in a "nice" way---they laughed about it, played along, etc.

After the Elliot Rodgers shooting in Santa Barbara where Rodgers said in his manifesto this was for all the women rejecting him, so many woman shared stories of being scared to reject men, scared of how they would react, and stories of men who didn't react well to a rejection. I honestly don't understand the comments that don't believe someone like this could happen.

Also you could apply this in every case where a stranger kills a stranger...Murderer kills victim but not the millions of other people he sees every day. Why? These "stranger murders" tend to be wrong place at the wrong time. Why did Bill Cosby choose those 50+ women to rape when he was exposed to thousands or millions of women?

I've seen cases on WS where someone will suggest that a victim was killed because they were "too pretty" yet a victim being killed because someone with a gun went into a rage and had his ego bruised...that just doesn't happen!

According to the charging document linked earlier, the males in the SUV said they'd like to eff the girls in Sara's car. A male in Sara's car replied that he didn't appreciate those comments. A male in the back seat of the SUV said something like, "I'll whip your *advertiser censored*." The driver said, "I'll shoot your *advertiser censored*" and bam. So it sounds like the shooter wasn't aiming for Sara - not that it makes any difference. It sounds more like an issue of disrespect than rejection - though saying "I don't appreciate those comments" isn't disrespectful.

Uh he just wanted to show off what a 'man' he is, show Sara's friend who spoke up who is the Alpha.

I'm sure the friend who spoke up will be tormented by thoughts that he shouldn't have said anything, that she might still be alive if they had just kept quiet and drove off. This will be hard on all of them. I hope they have good support.

Men like that have such a sense of self-entitlement though. Could they be psychopaths? This particular killer I'm thinking could have been on the path to becoming a serial rapist / murderer, IMO.

I think the friend's "I'll whip your *advertiser censored**" comment shows that men just don't have the "danger alarm" when it comes to creeps and psychos like women do. You have a car of guys who have just sexually harassed the females in your car---and you're going to aggravate the situation even more? Even if you don't know he has a gun, he is driving a car....he could ram it into your car, tailgate right on the bumper, etc. I honestly bet that the girls knew after Johnson's response to them rejecting him that they needed to get away from him. I am not blaming this guy for what happened---but I do think that after Johnson responded to their rejection, they got bad vibes and knew they had to just get away from his car. I think that women are more likely to be aware of what men are threats.

I think you got that wrong, eileenhawkeye, it was one of the men in the SUV (friend of Johnson) who said "I'll whip your *advertiser censored*" , not one of Sara's friends.

Oh...I thought that one of the guys in Sarah's car that said "I'll whip your *advertiser censored*" and then Johnson replied "I'll shoot your *advertiser censored*"?
