Anxious to know if he had a nazi uniform and how stupid he would look in it
I hope they post photos/videos.
Anxious to know if he had a nazi uniform and how stupid he would look in it
It started...introducing people now
BBMJust last night I was looking up tutorials on making rangoli (google it....beautiful), and some of the designs looked like swastikas to me. I was surprised - that was news to me. (Some Native Americans in the NW also have that symbol. Hitler changed the definition of that symbol, as we know, and it has gone out of disuse for them.)
So, I could believe it could be a Hindu symbol misinterpreted by the press.
However, I want confirmation to know for sure. It does make a difference!
BBM
We're all learning international ways.
Sorry, OT but last night I was making Doro Wat (an Ethiopian spicy chicken stew, the national dish. Vegans can make it with faux chicken for those that prefer.)
Houston LE press conference (streaming on youtube and on Twitter)
News from critically-injured victims' families - seems like all injured people will survive.
6:30am received 911 calls about shooting.
Shooter shot randomly.
75 spent shell casings (includes LE gunfire).
Suspect had 2 weapons. Was standing near car. Handgun and Tommy gun. 2600 rounds of ammo.
Scene still being processed.
If anyone saw something or has info, call LE.
Opened to questions:
Believed to have acted alone. Still processing his home.
No info on motive yet.
He was wearing military style apparel. Not sure what country. Did find Nazi items in personal effects and where he lived. Found vintage military items going back to Civil War.
Will be looking for cameras in area on businesses, apartments.
Will not confirm name of shooter. Need to work with Medical Examiner and notifying next of kin before releasing name.
No LE service calls to that apartment.
Random shooting.
Open-minded about motive. FBI is involved in investigation.
Will not talk about his personal history as they are not releasing his identity yet.
Still an open and active investigation.
No notes left, that is known at this time. Apartment is still being processed.
All shootings on Law Street, from what is known at this time.
He purchased guns legally in 2009 (rifle) and 2011 (handgun). One in Houston and one in College Station at actual store. Handgun near body - other gun in vehicle. Never moved from the spot where he was near his car. Discharged from standing outside this car. Did not talk to LE officers. Had concealed handgun license.
9 injured people. Some got stuff in eyes. 3 treated and released from hospital. 2 still in hospital - 1 critical and 1 good condition. One in serious condition at another hospital.
Will give no personal information or background information of suspect at this time.
No confirmation about laser pointer at the scene. No body armour. Wore historical military apparel.
Had to tend to citizens and move them to safety while dealing with active shooter and communicate with several agencies. LE commended for their work.
Placement of where injuries happened will be confirmed later.
As of now, not known to be connected to a terrorist group.
He has other weapons at residence, but will not confirm that they are at this time.
Shootings happened in residential area. Victims drove themselves to strip center.
No reports of him saying anything before/while shooting.
Shooter shot at officers. Engagement of gunfire back and forth. No officers were shot.
Color of uniform was military green.
Inventory of car - he did have an edged weapon (knife or something) on his person, still in sheath.
No explosives found in his car.
No LE vehicles hit, as known at this time. Marked cars were in the "hot zone," which was active shooting area. Officers were about 25 yards from shooter during gunfire exchange.
Shelter-in-place announcement: tweeted, FB, social media, through media, telling individuals. Got info out as quickly as they could. Office of Emergency Management deals with getting the info out.
Nazi emblem found on his uniform.
All victims are adults.
From Chief of Police: Run away from active shooter. If can't run, then hide. If you must, then fight. Think through the situation to save yourself. Don't freeze.
A house was hit - bullet found behind a couch. Still searching.
(I might have missed a few things, but that's the bulk of it. I stopped listening when switched to Spanish as I don't understand it well enough.)
Wonderful! This makes me happy. And, I love, love, love Ethiopian food.

Snipped for focus. I could be wrong, but I thought they said there were 2600 rounds of ammunition in his car and that a total of 75 rounds were fired, including those fired by LE.
