Is this why Robert Durst has been arrested for murder? Troubled real-estate heir is caught on microphone whispering 'I killed them all' in final episode of HBO documentary The Jinx

Real-estate heir, 71, made shocking confession to his involvement in the deaths of three people in final episode of HBO documentary on Sunday

'What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course,' Durst can be heard whispering to himself in an unguarded moment caught on microphone

Durst was arrested in New Orleans on Saturday after new evidence emerged about his alleged murder of Susan Berman in 2000

His brother Douglas said the family is 'relieved and also grateful' for

The documentary's interviewer has the newly found letter and envelope with the same misspelling and block font style as the cadaver note / envelope. The interviewer ambushes Robert Durst by first asking him several "softball" easy questions about some photos and then just hands Robert the newly found letter and envelope, and lets them just hang there for Robert's reaction - well, it is frighting to watch Robert as he puts it together, he begins to burp, almost vomit, and puts hands to his face, he then 'rights himself" and denies that he wrote it. The interview ends, and everyone tries to make light chit chat (it is really weird and scary - frighteningly scary).

Robert then goes into the bathroom, but is still mic'd. Here is what was recorded... it is Robert, breathing heavily at times, making odd noises, running the water and slowly talking to himself, here is what he said;

There it is, you are caught
You're right of course
But, you can't imagine
Arrest him
I don't know what's in the house
Oh, I want this
What a disaster
He was right
I was wrong
And the burping

****then what sounds like Robert throwing up*****

I'm having difficulty with the questions
What the hell did I do
Killed them all, of course

Geez....that is chilling to read.

Justice with Judge Jeanine is covering the case now on Fox News Channel

:)

Durst's attorney, Chip Lewis, is on the phone with Jeanine. He will at least assist with assembling the "best representation he can have". (The attorney is in Aspen CO now).

What a fool Durst is. Unlimited money. Could be living like a weird king in the South of France but instead he pees on candy, violates a restraining order at his brothers house and agrees to do a documentary about his life, including THREE murders he's the main suspect in!

Kathy Durst's brother is telling Jeanine that Durst was planning to go to Cuba (where there is no extradition treaty) when arrested.

Karma can wait a long time for the right moment that brings it all crashing down...

Robert had been blowing off the documentary crew for the "final" interview for weeks, and then later called to state he was done with filming and the project. The final interview was to end with the newly found letter/envelope reveal, so the production crew was left in limbo for the ending of the documentary series.

But then this happened - earlier in the documentary, Robert was filmed by the production crew hanging around the brother's Corporate Office, as well as his brother's house in NYC. By going to his brother's house (Robert was also filmed at the house by the home's security system), Robert had violated an order of protection - to which his brother was seeking charges for. Robert, and also his lawyers, then called the documentary's producer to get a copy of all footage that was shot on that day to aid in Robert's defense of breaking the OP. Once the producer's agreed to provide the footage, Robert seemed to have a change of heart, and then conducted the final interview for the documentary - which has now brought so many things to light and resulted in his arrest.

Robert's lawyers had told him it was not in his best interest to talk to the documentary crew - and that many people would use his words against him, which could explain the "you were right" "I was wrong" comments.

The last minute of the documentary "The Jinx", had me spellbound - and scared me to the point of not being able to move.

ETA: For those without HBO - here is an article that quotes some of what he said....

“What the hell did I do?” Mr. Durst whispers to himself in an unguarded moment caught on a microphone he wore during filming. “Killed them all, of course.”

This was a literal jaw-dropping moment for me. Kudos to the producers for the manner in which they confronted him with the handwriting samples. And to think - this all came about because Robert Durst wanted to tell his side of the story. Thankfully, it became a vehicle for the truth.

I'm having difficulty with the questions
What the hell did I do
Killed them all, of course

Bolded by me- "I don't know what's in the house."
That was the weirdest part of that entire weird talk Bob had with himself in the bathroom. What the heck is he talking about and referencing?

Also, the conversation Bob was having with himself in the bathroom.....I'm not a psychologist or psychiatrist but that whole conversation sounded like more than one person yet Bob was ALONE. It made me think maybe Bob has disassociative identity disorder (what we used to know as Multiple Personality Disorder) and one of his personalities is a killer (not that this would excuse his actions or make him any less of a killer). It sounded like Bob's personalities were taking to each other. One is the killer and the other have to protect the killer because they don't all want to go to jail. One personality told him not to do the interviews- "he was right. I was wrong."

One would think there's no way a judge in Los Angeles will give him bail, but Durst is so lucky and the cases & everything Bob is involved with are so weird...so who knows. If he does make bail, I'm really worried about Sareb (Susan Berman's son who found the envelope from Bob to Susan that matched the cadaver note & gave it to Jarecki) as well as Jarecki & the whole production crew. This man is clearly unhinged.

When he says he "killed them ALL," I have to wonder- are there more than three in that "all"? I'm thinking of the fact that Durst is a suspect in the 1997 disappearances of two girls in California- Karen Mitchell (http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/mitchell_karen.html) and Kristen Modafferi (http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...isten-Modafferi-18-San-Francisco-23-June-1997).

Given what this GQ article says about Durst's love of black male prostitutes, I'm also wondering if there aren't some UIDs (particularly dismembered ones who washed ashore somewhere, especially in places where Durst frequented, like NYC) or unsolved murder cases of male prostitutes that Durst is responsible for.....this article is a MUST READ if you watched The Jinx or are interested in this case:
http://www.gq.com/news-politics/200204/killer-in-the-blue-dress

I'm not convinced that Durst only murders people who get in his way or threaten him (a divorcing wife, a friend who might rat him out) but he may just kill for fun.

Allegedly, Bob Durst has brain cancer according to this article: https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/...-an-hbo-documentary-finally-nail-bobby-durst-

Now, he's been apparently been peeing on random stuff for years (The Jinx said he was axed from the family business partly because he peed in his uncle's wastebasket) but perhaps the brain cancer could explain why he'd allow himself to slip up to this degree as seen on "The Jinx." I have no doubt he thinks he's smarter than everyone and couldn't wait to get some attention by doing these interviews. But he didn't do any interviews for years. He was able to keep his desire to talk under control. Sometimes people with brain tumors start to do and say things they normally wouldn't do or would know are not okay to do. (I've seen this happen with my own eyes.) Maybe the brain cancer finally effected his brain to a point where he could no longer control his need to get more attention, "outsmart" Jarecki & the public, etc. In the taped conversations he had from jail while awaiting trial for Morris Black's murder (snippets of which were featured in "The Jinx" and more of which can be found via Google), he knew when to catch himself and not say certain things. He knew. I don't think he knows that anymore. He didn't check the mike to see if it was hot despite having a hot mike moment in a previous interview. He even said to Jarecki's face while the camera was obviously filming during the interview that he is "complicit in Kathie's not being here."

Besides being a murdering psychopath, I think something is seriously wrong in this guy's brain and brain cancer seems to fit as well. However, if it's only Bob saying he has brain cancer, I'm gonna hold my breath until I see some proof from medical personnel (who aren't on the Durst payroll). 'Cause we know how truthful Bob is. But it would make sense.

I'd love for Andrew Jarecki and his team to just start focusing on doing shows like "The Jinx." I'd watch hours of raw footage of him talking to accused murderers. Maybe he could get (or trick) out of them what law enforcement could not.

When Durst made the comment "he was right, I was wrong" I thought he was referring to his attorney, who had advised him not to do the interviews because his words could be used against him. (which turned out to be good advice)

But the comment about the house doesn't seem so clear. Maybe he means that he didn't know Susan's "cadaver" was in her house? (or that is what he will claim if asked)

From what I've read, Durst has long been known to talk to himself. I don't know if this is something that people with DID commonly do. He's certainly an unusual person.

Hopefully his defense attorneys won't be any of those regularly on TV...and the prosecutors won't be seeking their 15 minutes of fame to move on to the media circuit.

MOO

Why not? That stuff adds endless amounts of threads here. :thumb:

In "Beverley" Hills....we may be in trouble :hills:

I see what you did there. :giggle:

I wonder if that can be used at trial? I'm sure his dream team will have an answer for it.

I'm not sure he's a psychopath. Sending the letter to the Beverley Hills PD shows some sort of conscience. I'm no expert, but I think ktgirl may be closer with multiple personality.

I just think that Durst spends a lot of time alone and routinely talks to himself when no one is around. He just did what he normally does when away in the bathroom. I too think the "he was right" refers to his lawyer when he told him not to talk to the show.

I,too have followed this case for years. I live on Long Island and the NY newspapers have covered him extensively. I wasn't too interested in watching "The Jinx", because I thought it would be a fluff piece, in favor of Robert. Boy was I wrong! It's so well done and mesmerizing. I missed the last episode and will try to watch it later. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

There once was a man named Bob Durst
He killed his pretty wife first
Then a good friend
Met a gross end
As a neighbor he was the worst.
Lolol. "Ouch, my funny ribs," as one of my basketball coaches used to laugh when something amused him.

This case has been around seemingly forever, or so it seems, Durst-in-the-news-wise. And OMG, just checked Wiki to see just how long, and noticed this despicable personage and I share a birthdate! Egad. At least he's years older, but still....

OK, back on-t now.
