Thanks for this - in the article posted above it mentions that she may have got a train from James Cook Station - however I am sure CCTV would have been checked of trains around this time.

My worry is the Ormesby Beck very close by on this map I don’t have local knowledge but from looking at maps I believe she could enter close by to where she was last seen.

She got on a train to Whitby, according to this article. This train route passes mainly through many small towns and villages that don't connect to any other major route.

I've got to say, I'm more than a bit frustrated by Cleveland Police's tardiness when it comes to providing details to appeal to potential witnesses. If there's one thing that should make their job much easier it's that Annie has such a distinctive appearance, yet it's taken them 4 days to inform us that she got on a train from James Cook to Whitby!

Cleveland Police have issued an update in their search for Annie:

"Missing Annie, 20, is now confirmed to have exited a train at Battersby in North Yorkshire around 2:38pm on Thursday 4th January, having boarded at James Cook train station in Middlesbrough at 2:09pm that day.

Annie has potential to be camping and may have headed into North Yorkshire rural areas. Police are asking people to check any outbuildings or shelters for signs of anyone being there and urge anyone in Battersby or the surrounding areas who may have seen her to get in touch as a matter of urgency."

This is just the move I had hoped Annie would avoid. Less than two miles from the station she could be 1000 ft (300 m) up on the moors, and that could be life-threatening in this weather.

Oh no I hope she’s found quickly - she does not look very well prepared for camping in this weather judging by the CCTV footage.

I agree with Bobby above that everything by the police in this case seems slightly slow - confirming the train ride took days then this took a further day or two.

Hope she is found safe soon. It's gone very cold in the UK now and would be very unpleasant, not to mention unsafe for anyone to be sleeping outside in it.

I wonder if she has gone missing before and that's the reason for the police delay? It seems like people would have been looking for her locally rather than train stations miles away and beyond

She is a student. She is due back this term. It could be that alarms weren't raised until she failed to show.

The 20-year-old was last seen on Thursday, January 4, boarding a train at 2.09pm from the James Cook University Hospital train station, in Middlesbrough, and exiting the train in Battersby, North Yorkshire, at 2.38pm. Cleveland Police believe Annie could be camping and may have headed to other rural areas in North Yorkshire.

This is devastating. She is a friend of my daughter and much loved and her friends are going out of their minds. Please do all you can to spread the word. Especially if you are in the north east / north Yorkshire and have any links to that part of the world. Esp ramblers or dog walkers or adventurers. Etc

It is a frustrating situation. On the one hand, it must be so frightening having your life exposed, but on the other, it I really important she is found safe.

Do you know if she has a family to live with? Why is she thinking of camping/squatting?

Has she ever been 'wild camping' in the past? If so, maybe she just wants to get away on her own for a while. Having said that, it isn't the best sort of weather for any kind of camping.
I do hope she is found safe.

New police appeal

Do you know if she has a family to live with? Why is she thinking of camping/squatting?
She has a family - she is at uni in London but went missing when visiting home over Christmas. She is thinking of squatting because she is part of a scene of creative but financially challenged young people and quite a lot of them squat in London as a way of affording to live and live in a co-operative and bonded way. Camping and being in the wilds is just her thing. I really hope she is just opting out for a bit, but the triggers for concern are that her MH wasn't great before she left, she's deleted social media and is not communicating with anyone. The cold weather adds to this somewhat. I hope she has found shelter and is just being at peace.
