I remember reading in an article that he poured petrol over himself and set himself on fire. Whether that turned out to be true or not I don't know.

Well...Ummm...
I'm speechless.
So,
Murder-Suicide?

Or...
He could have splashed himself unwittingly with petrol while committing a crime and caught fire.

'Two men charged with murdering a mother and her three young children in a savage and deliberate house fire have pleaded not guilty.

Mohammed Shabir, 44, and Calum Sunderland, 25,
also denied the attempted murder of a fourth member of the family
while entering their pleads at Bradford Crown Court ahead of their trial next year.

The men only spoke during the 25-minute hearing to enter 'not guilty' pleas over a video link from Forest Bank prison, in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Their case is now set to go to trial on
March 4 next year."

"Today at Bradford Crown Court,
Birtle pleaded not guilty to three charges,
while his legal representation explained he may be 'unfit' to stand trial
due to his psychiatric state.

He denied the intentional strangulation of Miss Gawith,
assault occasioning actual bodily harm on her
and the theft of her mobile phone.

All offences are said to have occurred at their home
a month before the fatal blaze.

Birtle was supported in court by three family members,
who sat in the public gallery for the ten minute hearing.

He had hoped the prosecution would be dropped as a result of his loss,
but he was told the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) intends to proceed.

Birtle has also requested that his ankle tag is removed and his bail conditions amended,
because the funerals for his children will be held next week."
