Police say they urgently want to trace Eddie Hampshire in connection with the murder investigation

Police investigating the death of a delivery driver in Leeds have said they "urgently" need to trace a man wanted on suspicion of his murder.

Eddie Hampshire, 24, from Belle Isle, who is wanted in relation to Claudiu-Carol Kondor's death, is still believed to be in Leeds, West Yorkshire Police said.

Mr Kondor, 42, from Sheffield, died as he tried to stop a thief stealing his van when out delivering parcels on Tuesday evening.

Another man, aged 32, was arrested on Wednesday night on suspicion of Mr Kondor's murder and remained in custody, police had earlier said.

How tragic, just doing his job Our local Amazon drivers leave their vans running all the time, literally run and drop. Hope Amazon will provide some safety guidance for drivers....which hopefully will include letting any hijackers take the van. I'd rather my parcels get stolen than someone lose their life

Detectives said the victim had dropped a parcel off at a house half a mile away in Alliance Street around 15 minutes earlier, then returned to discover the attempted vanjacking.

As the thief drove away at speed, with the courier in the door, the van struck two parked cars on Heights Drive and the man was left at the junction of Heights Way and Heights Bank.

Members of the public gave first aid and the Transit was recovered about four miles away in Highlands Walk, Belle Isle, a short time later. [...]

Amazon confirmed that the driver had been contracted to deliver parcels for the company.

Officers are appealing for information from the public to help locate Eddie Hampshire, aged 24, from Belle Isle, Leeds, who is wanted on suspicion of murder in relation to the death of Claudiu-Carol Kondor. Police believe he is still in the Leeds area.

Mr Kondor, aged 42, from Sheffield, was pronounced dead at the scene in Heights Drive, Wortley, on Tuesday evening after his silver Ford Transit Cargo van was stolen in Alliance Street while he was making a delivery.

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a parcel delivery driver was dragged to his death as he attempted to stop the theft of his van in Leeds.

Mark Ross, 32, of Armley, Leeds, appeared before magistrates in the city on Friday after being charged in relation to the death of 42-year-old Claudiu-Carol Kondor.

Ross did not indicate a plea during the two-minute hearing. The court heard that it was alleged that he murdered Kondor on 20 August.

Wearing a grey prison tracksuit, Ross spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address. He was remanded into custody until his next hearing at Leeds crown court on Tuesday next week.
