#MISSING We're searching for missing Sunderland woman Danielle Best and are asking for your help.

Danielle, 36, was reported as missing shortly before 6pm yesterday after her family had not heard from her.

She was last seen in person at about 6.10pm the day before, on Monday, but has not been in touch since.

This is out of character for Danielle, who lives in the Eden Vale area of the city, and we're growing increasingly concerned for her welfare. A number of searches are being carried out across Wearside in a bid to locate her and ensure she is safe and well.

Danielle is described as 5’5 tall with medium length straight purple hair and has a local accent. She has two distinctive dove tattoos on her right upper arm, a butterfly tattoo on her left shoulder and a tribal tattoo on her lower back.

It's believed that Danielle could be carrying a black A4 size shoulder bag.

☎️ We're asking anybody who believes they have seen her, or know where she is residing, to get in touch immediately.

Anyone with information that can assist the search is asked to contact us via 999 or 101 quoting log NP-20230530-0960.

I've just come by to see if there was a thread for her. Thank you for starting one!

Danielle is my ex-boyfriend's cousin. I don't recall meeting her but apparently I did. This was 20 odd years ago so my memory must be going.

I haven't read where she was actually last seen. We have a time but that is all.

Danielle, 36, was reported as missing around 6pm on Tuesday after failing to make contact with her family.

She hadn’t been seen since the Monday night the disappearance is highly out of character for Danielle, who is from the Eden Vale area of the city.

An investigation was launched and searches to bring Danielle home safely have been ongoing since her family reported her as missing.

Today Danielle’s parents, Jeanette and Jeff Best, have issued an urgent appeal for information and are asking anyone with information to get in touch, as they grow increasingly worried about her.

In a statement they said: “Danielle is extremely vulnerable and alone. She’s got no money or way of contacting anyone and we don’t know if she’s had any food or water.

“We’ve not heard anything for a few days and this is not like Danielle at all. We’re getting more and more worried as the days go on and we just need to know that she’s OK.

“Danielle, if you are reading this and don’t want to speak to us, that’s fine, but please can you let someone know that you are OK? If anyone has seen Danielle or has information about please speak to the police.”

It's believed that Danielle, who also has links to the Wallsend and North Shields areas, may have travelled towards Roker or Seaburn seafront.

We have have also issued fresh CCTV which captured Danielle as she walked past the Harbour View, on Marine Walk at 7.13pm on Monday. She was wearing a blue T-shirt and black leggings.

We echo Danielle's family and ask the public once again to please get in touch with any information, no matter how small it may seem, so we can help bring her home safely.

Hopefully there will be more CCTV of her if she has walked along the seafront. Monday evening would have been busy along there. It was Bank Holiday and the weather was nice. Hopefully someone remembers something.

A really sad update
A very sad update to bring you this afternoon.

A body has sadly been found in the search for missing Sunderland woman Danielle Best.

The 36-year-old was last seen at around 6.10pm on Monday, May 29 and worried family members later reported that Danielle was missing after they had not heard from her.

An extensive search was launched, and a number of enquiries were carried out to locate Danielle, but sadly a body was found today (Monday) in the Marsden area of South Tyneside.

Formal identification is yet to take place but officers believe it to be Danielle. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this devastating time.

Police do not believe there to be any third-party involvement in Danielle’s death and a report will now be made for the coroner.

This is an incredibly sad outcome and not the news that we hoped to deliver to Danielle’s loved ones.

Our thoughts go out to Danielle’s family and friends at this tragic time. We will continue to offer them support and would ask that their privacy is respected as they process what has happened.

We want to thank everyone who shared our appeals to help find Danielle and shared information with us, as well as the many officers, partner agencies and volunteers who assisted with our search during the week. Your support is greatly appreciated.

I checked social media and saw the update. I am gutted for my friend. I immediately text him, offering my condolences.

It turns out that he found out the news on Facebook. He is at work so his dad hasn't been in touch with him. He was devastated. I always thought that when it says "the family have been informed", it meant a good few hours ago. But no, they'd found out, then the Police posted straight away, before the family had time to share the news with other family members.
