Police are trying to find a man who has gone missing after going out for a walk in North Yorkshire.

David McCartney, from Keighley, travelled to Craven for some exercise which was expected to last a few hour.

However, the 74-year-old has not been seen since and an urgent search is now underway in Kettlewell, Starbottom and Yockenthwaite.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "We are currently searching for David McCartney, 74, who was last seen at his home address in Keighley on Monday.

“David told his family he was heading on a walking expedition and would be approximately 4-5 hours. He travelled to the Craven area in a black Volvo 62 plate V60.

“We are currently carrying out enquiries to locate him but are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.”

THE search continues for a missing man.

Police and mountain rescue teams spent the day searching with the support of specially trained search dogs and the NPASvNorthEast helicopter yesterday.

As The Press reported yesterday, North Yorkshire Police are trying to trace David McCartney, 74, who was last seen leaving his home address on Monday morning (October 18).

A spokesman for the police said: “Please keep sharing the appeal and report any current sightings to 999. If you have information which could assist call 101. David was last seen at his home address in Keighley on Monday.

MOUNTAIN rescue, cave teams and RAF and police helicopters are among those searching for a missing man.

David McCartney, 74, was last seen at his home address on Monday before setting off to the Craven area to complete a walk.

Police, Mountain rescue, fell rescue, cave rescue, specially trained search dogs and both RAF and police helicopters are once again involved in today's search for David. The search area will focus on the Great Whernside, Kettlewell and surrounding fells and hilltops.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The coat that David is wearing in the picture is the same coat that he went walking with on Monday. David’s family have stated that he speaks “with a stutter” and this may be distinctive to anyone who has seen or spoken to him.

"Please call 999 if you have an immediate sighting of someone matching David’s description. If you have any information that could assist Police, please call 101."

Police, mountain rescue and cave rescue teams are searching for a 74-year-old man who has been missing for over two days after going on a countryside walk.

David McCartney failed to return from his walk in the Craven area, near Skipton, in North Yorkshire, on Monday.

The search for Mr McCartney, who is from Keighley in West Yorkshire, was focused on fells and hills around Great Whernside and Kettlewell, police said.

His family said he spoke with a stutter which may be distinctive.

After three days of searching Keighley man David McCartney has still not been found and as we enter day four, Police are appealing for sightings of the walker

The search for the missing walker David McCartney continues. David McCartney was heading to the Craven area to complete a walk which was expected to last a few hours. David has not been seen since, despite searches in the Kettlewell, Starbottom and Yockenthwaite areas of Craven.

David has not returned home and North Yorkshire Police had recovered his car in Kettlewell.
