Four males charged with Streatham murder

A] A 17-year-old male from the Croydon area will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 12 June.

Umar Salami – 18 (16.10.02) of Addiscombe Grove, Croydon will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 12 June.

[C] Denzel Kwatng – 19 (14.05.02) of Parkway, New Addington and [D] Andre Headley – 18 (12.11.02) of Prentis Road, SW16 will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 14 June.

Two 16-year-old females [E] and [F] have been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in late June.

Four other people – [G] a 15-year-old male; [H] a 16-year-old male; a 17-year-old female and [K] an 18-year-old man have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

[L] A 17-year-old male was arrested on Friday, 11 June on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon in relation to this incident – he remains in custody.

An investigation was launched after police were called to reports of a stabbing in Prentis Road, SW16 at approximately 16:15hrs on Thursday, 10 June.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a 17-year-old male suffering a stab injury. He was taken to hospital but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at 16:51hrs.

While formal identification awaits, next of kin have been informed and the deceased is Denardo Samuels-Brooks, aged 17.
 
Croydon teen killed after being 'stabbed in the chest' in huge street fight

A Croydon boy killed during a large fight in Streatham died of a “significant stab wound to the chest”, an inquest has heard.

Denardo Samuel-Brooks, 17, was stabbed to death during an altercation “involving a number of males with weapons of various descriptions” in Prentis Road, close to Tooting Common, on June 10.

The opening of an inquest into his death at Inner South London Coroner’s Court on Friday (July 25) heard an update from Detective Sergeant Steve Elliot regarding the ongoing Metropolitan Police murder investigation.

DS Elliot, of the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command South Homicide unit, told the court Denardo was “found unconscious” before being pronounced dead a short time later.

He added: “On June 10 in the afternoon, at around 4.15pm, police received reports from a number of members of the public regarding a violent altercation involving a number of males with weapons of various descriptions.

“When police attended, they found Denardo Samuel-Brooks unconscious having received a significant stab wound to the chest. He was later pronounced life extinct at around 4.51pm.

“A murder enquiry was commenced at that time and four people have been charged with and in relation to his murder, one of which is a juvenile.”

The court heard that the next criminal court date in the case is a plea and trial preparation hearing on August 31.

Umar Salami, 18, of Addiscombe Grove, Croydon, Denzel Kwatng, 19, of Parkway, New Addington, and Andre Headley, 18, of Prentis Road, Streatham, are all charged with murder.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

Two 16-year-old girls have been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in late June.

15-year-old boy; a 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man have also been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of Denardo Samuels-Brooks.

The 19-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday, August 5 on suspicion of assisting an offender.

She was subsequently released on bail to return on a date in early September.

Five people have been charged in connection with this incident, including a 17-year-old from the Croydon area; Umar Salami, 18; Denzel Kwateng, 19; Andre Headley, 18 and another 17-year-old male.

The 17-year old from Croydon and Andre Headley will next appear in custody at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, August 31.


In addition, two 16-year-old girls are currently released on bail to return on a date in early September and four other people – a 15-year-old boy; a 16-year-old male; a 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old man have been released with no further action.

I missed the outcome for Denardo but the above popped up today & I recognised his name .
