Thank you for this update, Tortoise. I’m 55 and have only recently (partly thanks to Websleuths!) really been thinking twice about putting myself in situations that I once felt completely confident about (but shouldn’t have)….reminding myself that ‘anything can happen’…I’d climb out on roofs to fix things, be on the top rung of a ladder, etc.

Cold swimming always interested me, especially for potential mental health benefits, and I live on the East Coast of the U.S. on a river. I’ve been so close to trying it a few times, but then read about someone going into shock and then subsequently going into Cardiac Arrest while attempting to. I listened to that. If I was in a tough place mentally, though, I would most likely just go for it, either not feeling vulnerable, or just not thinking and/or caring about any danger. Definitely makes me wonder here, if the results of the inquest are indeed what happened, maybe she got caught on something, etc. Really stinks either way, of course! So sorry for all..

The inquest, which re-opened today, heard Ms Lord had been on a course of hormone replacement therapy for the menopause and medication for epilepsy at the time of her death. She had previously suffered psychotic episodes.

A friend had been told by Ms Lord that she wanted to be 'like Nicola' - a reference to Nicola Bulley, 45, who disappeared whilst walking her dog last January.

Mortgage adviser Ms Bulley, a mother of two, was found in the River Wyre around three weeks after she vanished amidst a flurry of conspiracy theories shared on TikTok and criticism of the police investigation into her disappearance.
