Wow thank you for sharing and I think that serves as a reminder for all of us here, if you ever do get called up for jury duty and do some research, do not disclose to anyone! I'm going to hold my hands up and say I don't think I would be able to not do my own personal digging into a case if i was a juror, but I would keep my findings to myself. Would I be breaking the law then, but would any websleuther be able to resist though?

Mahek Bukhari, her mother Ansreen and four others facing murder charges have been released from custody after the collapse of their trial. The barristers for the six defendants appeared before the trial judge at Leicester Crown Court this morning.

The session was held in private, with the barristers for Mahek and Ansreen Bukhari, Natasha Akhtar, Mohammed Patel, Ammeer Jamal and Sanaf Gulammustafa appealing to Mr Justice Saini to release their clients on bail. Their applications were all granted.

The defendants have all been behind bars since their arrests in February and March of this year. A trial had been due to start in the summer but was delayed and only got going in late October.

UK Daily Mail article including photographs of Mahek and Ansreen returning to their family home. I wonder how

Some things I've noticed from the court listing:
- New Judge (Justice Spencer KC),
- "T/E 9 weeks" means trial will be approx 9 weeks long?,
- There are other listings before and after the Bukhari listing in the same court (number 6) that day, so I don't think we will be getting too far into the weeds, probably just select & swear in jury and arraign defendants. Crown Opening Statement to begin Thursday?
- "Raees Jamal to be produced" means he is still in custody. Did Rekan Karwan get granted bail some time after the other defendants did?

The case is beginning

The judge, Timothy Spencer KC is in court and the two in custody are being brought up from the cells. The case is likely to start with a legal discussion about the questions that potential jurors should be asked. There may not be much that can be reported from the legal discussions.

No evidence to be heard until Monday

The plan is for jury selection to take place across today and tomorrow. Nothing will be happening on Friday and the jury will begin hearing the prosecution evidence on Monday.

Potential jurors given questionnaires

There are 50 potential jurors in court. They have been given questionnaires to fill in to help with jury selection.

Potential jurors finished for the day

The hearing is continuing with legal argument, which cannot be reported.

May and Ansy papped by the Daily Mail as they arrive at court. They even wore facemasks to help protect people's health. How thoughtful of them!

Article says Natasha Akhtar is pictured too but I can't see it

Two whole days seems like a long time for jury selection in England & Wales? Possibly due to the first trial's collapse maybe they're being extra careful this time?

I don't do tik tok or instagram or anything like that but does anyone know if she's been posting since the last trial collapsed? Or maybe she hasn't been allowed?

You'd have to be really honest about yourself and be excused from being a juror. Yeah, it would be hard to stay away from private research, but all the facts you learn have to be heard and tested in court in order to have the most fair trial possible.

Who in here has the appropriate magic buttons to change the word "Mistrial" to "Retrial" ?

Whoever that is could they do that please?
