Really good to see that Helen's partner has made a direct appeal.

Her partner Ian Stewart from Letchworth said: “Helen wherever you might be I hope you hear this message and listen carefully.

“We miss you and Boris so much. We are shattered in so many ways. Your mum, dad, John, Tracey, the lads and me plus so many others all need you.

You bring so much to so many people in ways you don’t even realise

A bit more of the appeal - I do hope this brings positive results

You not only mended my heart 5 years ago but made it bigger, stronger and kinder. Together we learnt to live with our grief and move forward with our lives but never forgetting. Now it feels like my heart doesn't even exist. Our plans are nowhere near complete and without you there is no point.

We promised each other 30 years please keep that promise and come home. Whatever has happened, wherever you are I will come and get you and Boris and give you whatever you need.

Thank goodness they are all speaking out now. Also good to note that the Tuesday sighting ( in Weston - Baldock ) does not sound like it was Helen, as her green barbour has now been found in her home.

At a press conference earlier today at Hitchin Police Station, her brother John Bailey said: “I can’t believe it’s been a month since my sister Helen disappeared. As you can imagine, it’s been an extremely difficult time for our family.

“The more time passes since she was last seen, the more concerned we have become. As you know there is little information for police to work on. We are all so worried. If you have any information, I would urge you to call the police.

“I would also ask Helen, if you see or read this appeal, please let someone know you are OK. I know you said you wanted some time and space, and we don’t want to intrude on that – but all we need is for some information that you are OK. Even if that comes from someone you know and trust.”

I agree Milly re the appeals - am so pleased they are doing this, hopefully Helen will see one of the articles and get in touch with someone.

If, of course, she is still alive. Whether by taking her own life or falling prey to someone else, it can't be ruled out. A month is an awfully long time to be still existing somewhere yet not have been seen, unless she has the help of someone who is hiding her.

I agree, a month is way too long. If someone is helping her then I sincerely hope that person has the kindness to let her partner and family know that she is ok.

Another national now running the story. Surely, if Helen is in the UK, she will see one of these newspaper articles.

Inspector Wheatley issued a separate appeal for information from the public, as well as an appeal to Ms Bailey. “I would like to directly appeal to Helen. Helen, your family are worried about you and Boris and want to know you are safe. We know you regularly called your mum and dad and it is totally out of character for you not to speak with them.

“I fully appreciate you may find it difficult to contact police but we just need to know that you are ok. If you can’t call us directly, please let someone you know and trust know where you are and that you’re safe. Any wishes you have will be totally respected.”

Meant to add, The Express has also run the story, so that is now 4 main papers plus the Evening Standard in London who have reported.

I've never been to Kent but a quick google of Broadstairs shows it has some impressive cliffs in the area. I'm wondering as she hasn't been found locally did she travel to Kent. I'm sure the police would have checked local rail station cctv but did they check any in Kent?

I read that they checked the cottage in Kent, I would hope they did a CCTV check on the train station and local taxis etc.

The puzzle for me is how would Helen have got out of Royston without being sighted somehow.
She didnt take her car, so to get anywhere she needed some form of public transport. Train station and bus station have CCTV, taxi and hire car can be checked.
The only way I could see her getting out unnoticed is via a friend with a car. But, why still no word, even though her story is becoming quite mainstream now and surely she would have seen something.
Sadly, I am beginning to think you were right Ironside, I dont see a happy ending here now.

Just adding this article to the thread as it confirms that it was Helen's partner who checked the cottage and also reported her missing

Mrs Bailey vanished on April 11 from the home she shares with Mr Stewart and his two children in Royston, Hertfordshire. The note she left revealed plans to visit the family’s holiday home in Kent.

But Mr Stewart reported her missing when he drove to the property four days later and found she had not arrived. Detectives say she has not accessed her bank account or used her mobile phone and her car was left at home.

It's over a month now and I still wonder if she has the use of a friends house who maybe lives in another country for several months a year.
It could be secluded and no one would know she and her dog were there, not even the owners.
Could she have left the country somehow?
I know both thoughts are far fetched but she's written in the past about just disappearing so she had given it some thought at some time. And, I prefer to hang on to that rather than the alternative.

Maybe Royston station cctv was checked but there seem to be some small train stations before and after Royston (I've never heard of them before) which could be walked to in an hour or so. I wonder if their cctv was also checked. Buses cctv can be checked but it isn't always reliable in missing persons cases. A fake name can easily be given for a taxi. The area she went missing from seems to have been heavily searched so I think she may have travelled somehow to Kent.

A friend hiding her might work for a week or two but at this stage surely they'd have said something and everyone she knew would have been contacted.

I don't think something untoward happened like she was grabbed by some nutter and dragged into a car as unlikely they'd get her and the dog. Plus the fact that she said she wanted to go away would be too much of a coincidence.

I checked bus routes, thinking that Helen might have decided to catch a bus from close to her home, rather than the bus station. There is a stop just 2 minutes walk from her home but I can't see any service there after 14.32 hrs ...and there are 3 witnesses who all say they saw her at 14.45 hrs on the heath.

Plus, having stated in her note that she was going to Kent, then why try to hide her departure from Royston ? She could have gone openly to the station and taken a train to London.
Then, if she wanted to disappear, she could do so easily from there.

I also dont think she was grabbed by someone - the dog would be a deterrent and attract attention.

I really want to believe she is tucked away somewhere, de-stressing. But I dont think she is.

Hmm. I shall leave it there...I know what I think, and what have thought from start, and nothing has come to light that has changed my basic feeling. This confirms it.

Maybe - assuming she walked to one of the other train stations - it wasn't the intention to hide her departure from Royston but she wanted to avoid bumping into anyone she knew. I know when I've felt down I avoided human interaction as I just couldn't face it, especially friendly neighbourly small talk! Royston seems a small enough place and she seems so lovely so I'd say she was well liked and known in the area.

Sigh. Still nothing. I check the news daily. I did a little more research and was exploring her Twitter page. A couple of observations. One was her diagram of her stages of grief compared to the norm. The second was I noticed her last tweet was the morning of April 9th at 4:40 am 2 days before she disappeared. She was discussing the menu of one of her favorite restaurants and a female friend replied that she looked forward to the next time they saw each other. Helen did not reply. If this was 4:40 am her time then I am wondering if she was having trouble sleeping? With the searches about dog rescue places, I am also wondering if she did decide to take her life but was not confident that her fiance and boys would take care of Boris the way she would want so she gave him to the rescue? I think Boris is the key to finding Helen. Surely LE has scoured all possibilities of where Boris might be or who he might have been given to. So sad if that is what happened because giving up a pet or losing one as close as she was to Boris would have been excruciating. And, if she did give up Boris, it would explain just how deeply troubled she really was.

Are you thinking foul play?

She was said to have left a note but how would they determine that this note was a recent note and not one she wrote in the past that hadn't been discarded.

Why would she take a train and not her car? I don't know the timetables, but I'm sure she'd have to go to London and change trains, and probably take a cab or two.
