Investigation underway to find missing woman
Sunday, April 24, 2022

Have you seen Katie Kenyon?

We are growing increasingly concerned about Katie’s welfare after she was reported missing from home.

Her family are extremely concerned and say Katie’s disappearance is out of character for her.

And we are now asking for your help to try and find her.

Our enquiries so far suggest that at about 9.30am on Friday (April 22nd) a woman matching Katie’s description left an address on Todmorden Road, Burnley with a man and travelled in a silver Ford Transit registration MT57 FLC to the Bolton by Bowland area.

She has not been seen since and we are appealing to anyone who was in that area and may have seen Katie, either in company or on her own, or who saw or has dashcam footage of a van matching the description to come forward and contact us.

Katie is described as white, 33, five ft nine ins, with shoulder length blond hair. She was last seen wearing a blue cardigan, light blue and white top, black leggings and flip flops.

A man aged 50 from Burnley has been arrested in connection with our investigation and is currently helping police with enquiries.

Det Chief Insp Al Davies, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “Katie’s disappearance is out of character and her family are understandably very worried.

“We are doing all we can to try and find her and I would appeal to anyone who has any information, however insignificant you may think it is, to come forward and contact us.

“I would especially like to hear from anyone who was in Bolton by Bowland or the surrounding area and saw anything suspicious to get in touch. Did you see a woman matching Katie’s description, either alone or with a man? Did you see the silver transit van or might you have dashcam footage which shows it.

“While we have arrested someone in connection with our investigation, I am very much keeping an open mind as to what has happened and I have a team of officers and staff working hard to try and find Katie and return her to her family. You could help with that so please do come forward and speak to us as your information could prove crucial.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log 800 of April 24th or you can contact us through the Major Incident Public Portal at https://mipp.police.uk/operation/0401020119P01-PO1

This seems weird. Nothing in these articles seems to indicate who the man with the van is, or on what grounds he was arrested. Why would they not release that information? Did they find evidence of demise in the van?

From the DM link above ............

Katie was last seen where that van was on Todmorden Road and was said to have left her white Ford Fiesta there containing her belongings.

Her family have also said she appears to have posted some items through a letterbox of an address on the street.

o_O I'd love some clarification on this. I wonder whose letterbox it was and what she posted. Has she posted some of her own belongings through a letterbox? Or was the van driver some sort of delivery driver and he asked her to post something for him, maybe? So strange.

My first thought about the belongings was perhaps she knew something was up and wanted to leave a sign she'd been there or she was in trouble. I know I'd phone the police for advice if someone's, for example, purse with their cards in was posted through my door. (I don't know that's what the belongings were, I'm just thinking of belongings you'd carry and she/someone apparently still had her phone after then to turn it off)

Missing woman, 33, last seen with man in a van 'left her belongings in her car' before vanishing | Daily Mail Online

"Katie's sister Jenny posted online that Katie's phone was no longer working, adding: 'Samsung! Been off since 2pm yesterday.

'Took her car to a house and posted her things and vanished!

'Very unusual and out of character for Katie. Nothing adds up and we are all concerned for her and her whereabouts.

'She drives a white Fiesta, which was dropped at a house in Burnley on Todmorden Road with her belongings - still doesn't make sense.'
"

Police are continuing the desperate search for a woman who was last seen getting into a van three days ago.

A huge public appeal was launched in a bid to trace Katie Kenyon's whereabouts. A woman matching the 33-year-old's description was seen getting into a Ford Transit with a man in Burnley before travelling to the Bolton by Bowland area.

Lancashire Constabulary said they were increasingly concerned for her welfare while family members said they had "searched everywhere" and are "very worried" for her safety. A 50-year-old man from Burnley has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap with her disappearance and remains in custody for questioning.

Officers are continuing to search for Katie and are urging anyone with information to come forward. In an update issued this lunchtime (April 25), police said an earlier description of Katie having blonde hair was 'incorrect' and the picture sent as part of the appeal 'is a more accurate likeness regarding the colour'.

Desperate search continues for Katie Kenyon missing since Friday
