Yes we use Language line at work. They are available 24/7 via telephone also bearing in mind Polish is a very common language so can't see there would be much problem getting a translator
Fact of the day:
At the last census Polish was the most widely spoken non-native language in the UK with 1% (over half a million) of the population speaking it as their first language. I believe that % will be higher in cities and also will have risen quite a bit in the last few years, and I'm sure a local said Hull has a high Polish population. There'll be plenty of translators available at any time of day or night.
I assume police will also have spoken to PR's wife, who as far as we know speaks little English.
