Judith Bibby said she noticed a red anorak hanging on a barb wire fence.

She said: “It was a nice day that day. I thought it was strange.”

The jury heard that the only way of getting to the anorak was through a field because the brambles were so overgrown.

Red anorak not there the next day
Judith Bibby said they went on another walk around the Coppice at 9.30am the next day (August 27) and the anorak wasn’t there.

She said she was aware Lindsay was missing and was seen on CCTV wearing a purple jacket with a different coloured lining, possibly red.

Mrs Bibby said she thought the red anorak ‘could have been her jacket inside out’.

She later reported the finding to an ‘official’ man on the Coppice and then reported it to police.

I am so curious why the defendant, allegedly, killed her in the vicinity of the Coppice but then moved her via wheelie bin all the way across Burnley Rd to the rear of the cemetery. Why not just bury her there?

Thanks from me too for the updates.

The Guardian are saying he does have autism:

In a statement provided to police on 30 August, which was read to the court, the defendant, who has autism and a learning disability, said he had been approached by a man he did not know in the area to “get rid of a body” for him.

I presume the court reporter has the wrong date here - must mean August 13

I am so curious why the defendant, allegedly, killed her in the vicinity of the Coppice but then moved her via wheelie bin all the way across Burnley Rd to the rear of the cemetery. Why not just bury her there?

From memory - in the first few days after Lindsay disappeared, the search area concentrated on The Coppice and the Cemetery.
Then on Friday August 16, there were notices, locally, advising the public that the meeting place for the search on Saturday August 17 would be next to Whitakers pub.
I believe the main cemetery search also ended on the Friday.

So putting the two together, perhaps moved her body away from the area that was going to be searched and into an area that had already been searched.

Ok, so he was interviewed on the first day, gave no comment, pretty standard. Then on day 2 of police interviews, gives a pre prepared statement, saying he dealt with disposal only....IMO based on the limited police pre interview disclosure, had to cough at least to disposal of Lindsay’s body, his DNA is everywhere from the sound of it, he had to explain for the presence of his DNA, even at that early stage. It will be interesting to see if the defendant takes the stand in due course, I am expecting that he won’t but you never know........

But then disposed of them in the same bag, doesnt make sense does it.
I wondered if it was to remove them easier from her body but then thought how hard would it be, surely just undoing/untying would be easier? I wonder if we will be offered possible scenarios by the prosecution at some point.

It would be interesting to know if there were any cuts in the upper part of the trainer. If so, then the soles could have been cut off first, to make it easier to cut off the remainder of the trainer - am thinking rigor mortis here. The fact that they were found in the same bag makes it seem unlikely the soles were cut off to hide something.

And I don’t think his learning difficulties are enough to get him off this one, he’s shown enough presence of mind at least partially anyway to show he knows right from wrong.

The evidence today has completely blindsided me, i think i would rather have believed the 'fitted up' story. Seems less and less likely now.

Maybe he had dark obsessions, i cant get my mind around it.
