A woman is fighting for her life after being apparently attacked while taking her springer spaniel for an early morning walk on a quiet country path.

The victim, who is in her 50s, was found by members of the public on an isolated track between a sewage works and a railway line.

Police are treating the incident as an attempted murder, and officers have been searching for evidence at the scene off Rectory Lane in Brantham, Suffolk.

The woman, who has not been named, is said to have left her home at 5am on Wednesday to walk her dog.

A member of the public tried to help her and dialled 999 after finding her injured and unconscious 90 minutes later with her spaniel unharmed next to her.

Suffolk Police said she remained in a critical condition today.

A missing jacket and iPhone could hold the key to helping police solve an attempted murder investigation after a woman was found unconscious with serious injuries on a village track.

Police are appealing for two items they believe she had which are missing.

They are a pink long sleeved zip through top and an iPhone.

A 37-year-old woman from the Ipswich area was arrested yesterday on suspicion of handling stolen goods in connection with the incident amd she was also taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

The pair have since been released on bail with conditions to return to the police on Friday, October 25.

"A 45-year-old man who has been re-arrested was being questioned at Martlesham Heath Investigation Centre.

Suffolk Police said a 37-year-old woman had also been arrested on Saturday on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

The force said the pair had been released on police bail with conditions to return on 25 October.

The force said Ms Rose's mobile phone that had been missing had now been located and recovered.

The distinctive pink jacket that she was wearing was still missing."

Brantham dog walker dies four days after attack

RIP

I'm surprised the press/news aren't making a bigger thing about a mother of 6 killed while walking her dog. (Not that it makes any difference how many kids she had but you know what the press are like)
Shocked he's been released on bail too.

RIP Anita.
