A missing woman texted her dad to tell him she loved him just 20 minutes before she was last seen.

Melanie Wilson was reported missing on October 19 after she disappeared from her home in Sutton-on-Ashfield, Nottingham.

Her dad has revealed his last contact with the 22-year-old was just before she was seen for the final time by her family .

He told how the charity shop volunteer texted at 11pm to say "I love you dad", to which he replied "I love you too darling".

A missing woman who disappeared two weeks ago sent her a dad a text message saying 'I love you' - 20 minutes before she was last seen.

Melanie Wilson, 22, was last spotted near her home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts., at around 11.20pm on October 19.

Last week police underwater search teams began scouring two lakes at separate beauty spots after fears grew for her welfare.

Her heartbroken father David Wilson has issued an emotional plea to his daughter for her safe return and revealed she sent him the worrying text before she disappeared.

Her "heartbroken" father said he is going through "hell" over her disappearance.

David Wilson said: "I'd imagine hell is similar to what I and family and friends are going through. We're all heartbroken. Everywhere we look there's a reminder of her.

"The last time I saw her was when she popped in to see me at home on Monday (17 October).

"We just had a general chat and hugged each other as she left. She seemed her usual self."

Mr Wilson went on: "The last contact I had with her was a text she sent me at about 11pm on Wednesday (19 October) which said 'I love you dad'.

"I sent her one back saying 'I love you too darling'."

Ms Wilson is described as white, 5ft 6in tall and of a slim build, with blonde hair and a sleeve tattoo on her right arm.

People in Nottinghamshire are being asked to check their gardens and sheds as part of a search for a woman from Sutton in Ashfield who's been missing for ten days.

22-year-old Melanie Wilson hasn't been seen since leaving her home on the evening of Wednesday the 19th October. Family say they're partiuclary concerned because Melanie hasn't posted anything online since her disappearance, despite being an avid fan of social media.

I checked but couldn't find one. I saw a friend (presumably) share a photo of Melanie from Instagram on the FB group.

I did read it was worrying because she was an avid user of social media & hasn't been on since. Yet we can't find her on anything?

"Melanie’s family is distraught and really worried about her, as we all are. One can only imagine how difficult it would be to not have any contact with a loved one for this long.

"There’s no indication as to why she may have gone. She also hasn’t got her mobile phone with her, which is concerning for someone who is so active on social media. No-one has heard anything which is really concerning.

I was wondering that - some of the articles I have read seem to say she was last seen, at home, at 11.20pm, so was it a family member who saw her - and she disappeared from the home after that time ?

Not exactly no but it is what gave extra weight to what I had suspected going by some things I had read, the tattoo. I could be way off the mark with its meaning but I know a lot of people who have gotten tattooes to conceal their scars or the opposite, to show pride in their strength. I run a mental health community.

I also lost a very good friend 2 years ago, he was missing 6 months and his mental health was barely mentioned despite the fact the police knowing all about it. I just recognised a few flags reading SM earlier today. I suspected a MH element and possibly self harm. I was right.
