This is going to be an interesting case, if that's the right word?! What causes a primary school teacher to murder her partner? My first thoughts are DV but I think that's just because it's a woman murdering a man and it's fairly unusual circumstances

All of it is strange….. did she just continue on with being mum to child and work with no obvious change in behaviour as to not arise suspicions?
The ‘complex case’ could refer to the delicacy of info in light of her young pupils, but also I keep wondering if the child was with her in Cumbria, or anytime recently once investigations began?
I’m thinking Cumbria is as remote as you can get at short notice, I’m guessing she knew what was coming, would she have left child with parents etc, and at 42, his parents must’ve been wondering regards son & grandchildren for the last 6 months.
Seems weird it’s taken so long for anything to come to light.
Strange if she didn’t behave differently (markedly so) in these last few months.
someone above mentioned cases of females burying males….. Joanne Dennehy and landlord iirc…. Not too far away in Peterborough

Agreed with both points above, very difficult to do alone….. Me and friend years ago cleared an old air con unit out of his new house - heavy, long and tubular…. We wrapped sheets or something round it to mitigate the dust, all I will say is, eyebrows were raised and explanations felt required!! Apologies if this appears to make light of things…..

FWIW.

Strange case indeed! I look forward to hearing more details, I think we all have the same questions. The garden looks really small. All the stuff at the back of it is just there/nothing to do with the police? Makes you wonder!

I thought that! I lived on the same side of the street a few doors down and my garden was twice if not 3 times as long in length, I had just assumed that all houses along that stretch had the same set up.

Results of a post-mortem investigation have confirmed the identity of a man whose remains were found buried in the back garden of a Northampton home.

This means Northamptonshire Police can now formally name him as 42-year-old Nicholas Billingham.

The post-mortem has also identified Mr Billingham died as a result of a stab wound to the neck.

A 48-year-old Northampton woman was charged last Sunday (March 20) with his murder and appeared before the town’s magistrates court the following day (Monday, March 21).

Fiona Beal, of Moore Street, Kingsley, was remanded by Northampton magistrates to appear before a judge at Northampton Crown Court on Tuesday (March 22) and will next appear for a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, April 19.

She is accused of killing 42-year-old Nicholas Billingham (pictured) sometime between October 30 and November 10 last year.

Beal was arrested at a hotel in Cumbria on Wednesday, March 16, leading police to the search of the Moore Street address.

Forensic officers and specialist search teams, including a cadaver dog, were deployed to the property in Moore Street last weekend and, following an extensive search, a body was discovered buried in the rear garden of the property last Saturday afternoon.

The body was transferred to Leicester Royal Infirmary where a Home Office pathologist conducted the post-mortem investigation.

An inquest will be held inactive while criminal proceedings are ongoing.

Police inquiries are continuing and anyone with any information about the case is asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 26 of March 16, 2022.

Mr Billingham's remains were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary, where a Home Office pathologist conducted the post-mortem examination, Northamptonshire Police said.

I was not expecting stab wound to the neck! What are we thinking regarding motive now? I'm thinking this wasn't self defense
I think the fact that she (allegedly) buried him and didn't make a call to police to report that she had to defend herself kind of spoke to this not being self defence. Rather, IMO, it speaks to him being a victim of DV.

The family of Nicholas Billingham have released the following tribute to him:

“Nick has been taken from us far too early and will always be in our hearts.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with offers of kind support, and words of comfort from so many beautiful people, and know that he will be sadly missed by all his friends, family and loved ones.

“Our heart aches for Nick. He was a gorgeous little boy, and we have so many cherished memories of him growing up and were so proud of the man he became. He just got on with life, which has now been tragically cut short.

“Rest in peace Nick. Until we meet again, sleep tight and remember all the good times we had together. We will love you always and forever.”

*Fiona Beal appeared at Northampton Crown Court on March 22, charged with the murder of Nicholas Billingham. The 48-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to appear for a pre-trial hearing at the same court on April 19.
