1. Do we know if Nicola was actually seen on the Zoom meeting with her work that morning or did she log in with just a profile picture? And if using a profile picture, did she talk at all? My hubby has some Zoom meetings that are listening only for him, so he doesn't show himself, just his profile pic, and doesn't talk at all.
2. Is there definitive proof that she was at the park? I know we have "witnesses" but are they 100% positive it was Nicola they saw? I know her phone and dog were there, but 100% proof Nicola was?

Apologies for my lack of technical know how but is there any chance her car key could be detected due to giving off some sort of signal, with the right equipment? Just thinking of advice I have read of before about keeping your car keys in a tin in the house as car thieves can a unlock your car with some device .

Thank you to the posters who advised myself that NB’s Fitbit wasn’t synched, I was unable to respond before the previous thread closed. I was unaware of this - such a shame - For those out there with Fitbits - Choose auto sync for this exact reason! - This data would have given the police so much info if it had been on auto sync. IMO I find it hard to believe after searching for 10 days that they can’t find her - I’m not convinced she went into the water. MOO

I was wondering whether they might use some type of detector if they were in her pocket? I know the river is probably full of bits of metal but maybe there is a way.

Unfortunately car keys don't tend to be waterproof.

silent and profile.
Police have spoken with the witnesses and they believe them so there seems to be no reason not to.
Latest update is here

Thank you. I guess I just was wondering about the witnesses because we know sometimes witnesses get it wrong, even though they thought it was correct. For example, a bank robbery might have 12 witnesses, but 12 different descriptions of the robber. I'm just puzzled if she is not in the water, but I guess everyone else is too...

There's a million ways to fall into the water but there's only about 2 for disappearing immediately afterwards. And the only one I can think of is getting out again.
The police divers hit that river that very afternoon and the covered one km upstream and 3 downstream , from memory.

Is that a 10 minute fast walk?

The presser last Friday made it very clear, they told us what they had done, who had done it and how they had done it.
She was not seen leaving that park.
They have searched it thoroughly.
There are areas that are not covered on camera.
Also the CCTV at the back of the caravan park wasn't working. So that's 2 areas right there where she could have left the park.

The police searched thoroughly? Have they been through every room in that abandoned/empty house on the other side of the river? And searched tha garden with sniffer dogs?

What about those 2 caravan parks? I don't recall hearing about those being searched thoroughly. Going around asking a few caravan owners 'Did you see anything?' isn't pro-actively searching and being 100% sure she's not there.

I'm up to speed, thanks though.
You'll have to ask them those questions yourself because they haven't disclosed all details to the general public.

We would like to remind people that much of the speculation and comments on social media are both unhelpful to the investigation and, more importantly, hurtful for the family, who are going through agony as they wait for answers.#

“It is not possible to provide every piece of information to the public because to do so would detract from the investigation, but I’d like to thank everyone who has assisted us so far and for the support provided to Nicola’s family at this extremely difficult time.

I have been thinking about this non-stop. Have two little children myself and it breaks my heart.

Just occurred to me, is there any way she went in to the water but managed to drag herself out somewhere further along but unfortunately was hypothermic or somehow incapacitated. Only because the search is focused on the water itself, but she may have managed to get out somehow.

JMO IMO

Fair point, although I don't see how Lancashire Police disclosing which areas have been thoroughly searched with sniffer dogs would impede the investigation. But anyways....up to them.

They've been a bit shy about facts in this case sometimes. We only want to know what's been searched and by what means.

The Lancashire Police divers couldn't find anything and now they've had to get a more specialist dive team in, which doesn't give much integrity to the original police divers.

I'm not knocking them too much, but a little bit more transparency and less "we think" comments from them would reassure people.

The locals in that area don't know if it's 100% safe. It can't be easy for other lone dog walkers or single women out walking by themselves.

I think it would depend on the car. I'm not up on modern car entry systems, though I know that some work on proximity to the vehicle (i.e. the vehicle unlocks when you're close to it, even if the keys are in your pocket). There may be other technologies, but RFID (radio frequency ID) chips inside the key fob would be the most likely. They would work by the car sending out a constant polling signal, and when the RFID chip is within range, the car will receive a response (encrypted) and open the door. It is possible to spoof (i.e. mimic) this signal and hunt for the keys, though I suspect the vehicle manufacturer would need to be involved, or an expert who would analyse the encryption/frequencies and replicate it. If the car key is button operated (i.e. the signal from the car key fob is activated by a button), then this would not be possible. If the keys are in the water, then the signal is not going to work (unless very close to the water surface) as its all very low powered and water attenuates RF signals within the ranges used for this sort of technology.

From the CCTV pictures, the car looks to be quite modern, my immediate reaction when I saw the CCTV was that the car is a Mercedes GLA, or similar model, and not very old. There's a very good chance the keys could be proximity entry, but this would need to be set up by the driver/owner, and also if in the water, the signal would not be picked up.

I’m just popping this here, RE: Witnesses.

I watched this programme and it’s common for ‘ghost sightings’ and the person isn’t intending to mislead. While the sightings are helpful building a timeline atm, we should maybe allow for movement on times ect.

Thank you for the great detail.
