This case is very close to me but despite reporting in local and regional media, I'd not seen it until his wife's plea for information came through my Twitter feed. These are the two family social media links (Mods, I assume these are OK):

His car was found at Holt Fleet, which is a major rural road crossing of the River Severn. Since it is reported that Stephen is depressed, that doesn't sound good.

The family have clearly been liaising with the police; despite being an adult, Stephen would be regarded as vulnerable because of his mental health issues. There was also a search involving members of the public last weekend, the same time as the one for Corrie.

I know Holt Fleet very well as I travel that way regularly (in fact we drove through there last Wednesday) so I'll be keeping an eye on this case.

Hi Melmoth Merry Christmas :) only looked quick but the guy looks like he enjoys hiking and has experience which is a good thing but the worry of his mental health state at the time. Do we know if there was any cctv in that area that he may of caught him on it x

Yes, he does look like a hiker. I need to trawl through all the media to see where exactly he left his car. There are quite a few footpaths in the area, including along both banks of the river, so it's possible he could have simply planned on going for a walk and slipped into the river.

No, there's no CCTV covering the bridge, though there might be some covering the pub car park (the pub is The Holt Fleet overlooking the bridge).

There's another pub, the Wharf Inn, nearby directly on the river. It too might have car park CCTV.

This is the OS map showing the footpaths he could have used. The path with the red diamonds is the Severn Way, a medium-length official path with good waymarking.

Thank you Melmoth you are well onto this one and research is really fab.

Stephen is described as
..... white, around 5ft 6in, with short, dark hair and a short, grey beard. He usually wears dark rimmed glasses and is believed to be wearing a black coat, a fabric fur lined bomber jacket, black jeans, a navy blue or black fleece and a grey hat.
According to ITV Stephen went to bed around 10.15pm on 6th December and was reported missing from home at 1.20am a few hours later.

He had no bag or rucksack with him and had not taken his medication for two weeks before he disappeared:

Unfortunately this taken all together does not sound good at all.

For Tweeps, there's a hashtag #findstephenwoolley

It sounds like suicide :-(

I came on here to start a thread, so glad that you had done it already Melmouth. it came up on my facebook feed yesterday as a friend shared it. it's not my neck of the woods, I'm an hour or so away.

I think the link you mention above was from Midlands Today - there was a video clip from it on the FindStephen facebook page.

The poor family, it sounds awful but really does sound like he went off deliberately :(

Any news yet. I am just asking before I tweet as some of my contacts are across the boarder.
