GUILTY UK - Steven Donaldson, 27, murdered, Loch of Kinnordy, Scotland, 6/7 June 2018

Martin Johnstone (SD's friend who was quoted in this article 4 days after SD's death) giving evidence:

He told advocate depute Ashley Edwards: “Tasmin had said she was actively trying to get pregnant and that Tasmin thought it would be – she never used the word beneficial – but it wouldn’t have been a bad thing, it would have brought her and Steven closer together.”

[...]

[After a body had been found] He said he pressed her on that and asked her when she had last seen Steven and she told him it was “wayyy before” a motorcycling event some weeks previously.

“That is when I started thinking something wasn’t right,” said Mr Johnstone.

Glass also told Mr Johnstone Steven had been coming to see her in Kirriemuir the previous night, but didn’t turn up at the top of Kirrie Hill, and when he asked her where the body had been found she said it was “about half an hour away” from the place they had been due to meet.

“I couldn’t comprehend why this could be connected, but Tasmin wouldn’t tell me where the top of the hill was,” the witness said.

Wow. Would it help a bail appeal if she found out she was pregnant after arrested?

No idea, but it sort of makes sense that may have been the case.

I guess she would have given birth in the last month or 2 (if she was pregnant).

Yep. Could explain why first bail appeal was knocked back if she was only in early stages but second approved to allow her to give birth at home.

I really hope she hasn’t been though. No child deserves to grow up and learn that about their parents.

A man accused of murdering his co-accused's boyfriend told his uncle in a phone call "he's left him for dead", a trial has heard.

Michael Davidson told police that his nephew Callum Davidson "borrowed" a baseball bat from him.

The trial was told that Callum Davidson told his relative he had some "bother" with a "guy" called Steven Donaldson.

Michael Davidson told police that his nephew said Mr Donaldson was a loan shark and that he was coming to Kirriemuir to assault Ms Glass because she owed him money.

The court heard that Michael Davidson told police that Mr Donaldson had assaulted Miss Glass before.

Mr Davidson told police that he next heard from Callum Davidson in a phone call which was made at 01.05 on 7 June, 2018.

Michael Davidson told officers: "It was Callum on the phone.

"I do remember Callum saying something like "he's left him for dead" when I asked him what the craic was."

A “grey and jittery” murder accused confessed he had broken a baseball bat by striking Steven Donaldson with it after he and a friend stepped into an argument involving their female co-accused at a Kirriemuir children’s playpark, a High Court jury has heard.

Steven Dickie then took a bent kitchen knife from a coat pocket shortly before co-accused Callum Davidson went back to the Peter Pan park to look for pieces of the broken bat.

Giving evidence on the fifth day of the Kinnordy murder trial, Ogston said her boyfriend had come into the bedroom saying he needed to tell her something, but she “shut him down”.

Miss Ogston, who told the court she has a 12-week-old daughter with Davidson, said she thought Davidson and Dickie had “maybe beaten up” Mr Donaldson.

It came after she told the court Glass had asked her then-boyfriend Dickie to “deal with” a situation earlier that evening following an angry phone call from Mr Donaldson concerning money Glass was due him.

A man accused of the murder of Steven Donaldson looked "shocked" when his alleged accomplice asked him to 'deal' with the money issues she had with him.

Claire Ogston, 21, told a jury on Friday how Steven Dickie, 24, reacted when Tasmin Glass, 20, spoke to him about financial issues she was having with her partner.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard that Miss Glass was "worried" about not being able to pay a sum of money back to Steven Donaldson, 27.

Miss Ogston said Miss Glass said she was a "wee bit scared" of Mr Donaldson and what he'd do if she didn't repay him.

Miss Ogston said: "She got herself a bit worked up and asked Steven if he could deal with it.

"Steven Dickie didn't respond. He looked a wee bit shocked."

Good grief! Reading all of this is just horrific! And makes me wonder what on earth will come out after the (pretty much guaranteed) guilty verdicts ...

Callum Davidson's girlfriend! Fessed up cause she was worried about how the locals would react to her! Not because what her boyfriend did was horrifically murder someone and just try and get away with it!

I don’t even think we have heard the worst of it yet. There’s been no explanation as to why Steven’s body was dismembered - if the policeman was correct in what he saw. I think the experts testimonies are going to be the real horrific part.

I hope TG doesn’t get a lesser sentence, it sounds like she was the instigator.

I feel terrible for Steven and his family. His life was worth more than £3000. Heartbreaking.

Claire Ogston also told the trial at Edinburgh High Court how she, Davidson and Steven Dickie had gone out to a Kirrie pub on the night of the grim Kinnordy Loch discovery to drink and play pool, with her boyfriend telling one person they met not to believe everything he had heard about rumours already circulating the Angus town.

In cross-examination by Ian Duguid QC, representing Dickie, the jury was shown forensic documents relating to fingerprint samples taken from the broken handle of a baseball bat, recovered from close to the entrance to Kinnordy Loch on June 17, which the report said belonged to Davidson and Donaldson.

He also referred to a report about DNA samples recovered from both the left and right handlebars of Davidson’s bike, which experts have said belonged to the accused and Mr Donaldson.

Mr Stewart told prosecution lawyer Ashley Edwards QC how he was with his then girlfriend Claire Milne when he saw Mr Davidson with his co accused Steven Dickie, 24.

He said: "Callum stepped out to speak to my girlfriend. He asked us about what had happened the night before.

"He said he had been there when some of it happened.

"He said there had been a carry on up at the park and a baseball bat had been smashed over the person's head. He said that a baseball bat had been snapped over his head with one swing and that he had punched him and he got rid of the weapons.

"He said that he had left Tasmin's dad up there to deal with it. I looked at Callum and shook my head and told my girlfriend 'let's go' and walked into the shop."

[...]

He said he drove past the location where the human remains were found and saw the police there.

Mr Stewart, who is currently unemployed, also said he saw Tasmin Glass's car parked close to a police car.

When Ms Edwards asked him what he then saw, Mr Stewart said: "She was slumped over her steering wheel."

[...]

"Callum said he had taken and got rid of the weapons. He said he was taking it out to his granny's farm.

"He wasn't directly speaking to me. It was actually my girlfriend he was speaking to. He seemed pretty calm. I said 'that's going to get you years for doing that'.

Mr Stewart said he later visited a cafe that Miss Glass was working at.

When Ms Edwards asked him about the visit, Mr Stewart said: "Tasmin was working. She took our order. She seemed fine and calm."

Jurors were also shown a series of CCTV clips covering the period from around 10.45pm to just after 11pm on June 6, showing Mr Donaldson’s distinctive BMW 1 Series, registered S73 VED, and Glass’s Corsa taking a similar route through Kirriemuir town centre and turning up The Roods.

Agreed evidence already presented to the jury has confirmed the two vehicles as being owned by the deceased and the accused.

It has also been agreed that co-accused Callum Davidson was the front seat passenger in Glass’s Corsa at the time it was captured on CCTV.

TV's Mum was giving evidence yesterday.

From the witness box, the mum said she was currently looking after Glass’s 13-week old son, after her then 19-year-old daughter confirmed she was expecting in the days after Mr Donaldson was found.

Oooooh good grief! I guess we got a hint of THAT coming when we heard that Tasmin had been 'actively trying to get pregnant' and explains the bail ... do we assume the son IS Steven Donaldsons?

Good point, I was assuming it was his. Surprised their wasn't some clarity on that, or maybe TG's Mum isn't the appropriate witness to give that evidence.

During her evidence, Mrs Glass said on June 6 her daughter told her she was going out with Steven Dickie and a couple of friends. She said she had been in contact with her to find out when she was returning home.

Mrs Glass said she had waited up for her and said Tasmin looked normal when she returned home.

She said: “She was quite happy, relaxed, chatty.”

Just waiting for the Jeremy Kyle style big reveal:

Around May, the two women had a discussion about pregnancy and Ms Wright advised Glass to take a pregnancy test, which she said was positive.

[...]

The advocate depute asked: “Did you have a discussion about whether she was in a relationship at that point?”

The witness said she understood Glass to be in a relationship with Steven Dickie.

“Was anyone else mentioned at that time?” – said the prosecutor.

She replied: “I vaguely remember asking if Steven Donaldson was the father and I was told no because she hadn’t seen him for several months.”

[...]

The defence counsel then asked the witness about a statement she had given police in mid-June about the pregnancy in which Ms Wright said: “I asked if it was Steven’s, meaning Steven Donaldson, and she said yes.”

The police statement continued: “I asked her if she was going to let Steven Donaldson know, and she said no.”

Mr Stewart put it to the witness: “This was your record of what you told police at the first time of asking in June?”

The witness replied: “I had forgotten that but I remember now.”
