Callum Davidson's QC is Brian McConnachie ... no rest for the wicked eh!

An older article which reads like SD may have been planning to meet up with other friends. Also states he was last seen at 10pm.

'Why would anyone hurt him?' asks friend of murdered oil worker Steven Donaldson

Thanks for this. It sounds like Steven had a wise head on his shoulders. I think that’s possibly backed up by the fact his best friend seems to be a bit older.

The only motive I can really think of is financial. If it was a case of girl playing two men off of each other, why not just finish with him?

That being said, people do the strangest things when fuelled by jealousy. It’s reminding me of the Shanda Sharer case from the early 90s in America.

Good spot. Never noticed that. I doubt he can sleep with all the horrors he has heard anyway!

Some snippets

Ms Robertson was asked if she had met her brother’s girlfriends at the family home and said she had seen Glass there “a few times”, having originally met her in early 2018.

“She said ‘Don’t cry, you need to be strong and she asked if I wanted her to come through to Arbroath and I said no.”

In another message later that day Glass said: “OK, love you all, please stay strong.”

Kirriemuir-based police officer PC Paul Hosking told the trial he had been in Forfar police office at 5am on June 7 when they received the report of a body being found.

He and a colleague were the first officers at the scene and he said he could see a male lying beside the burnt out car.

“He was badly charred,” the officer told the trial, adding that the man’s lower legs also appeared to be missing. The officer also noted large lacerations to the man’s back and neck.

The policeman’s evidence confirms rumours that were flying around social media. Horrendous.

The High Court in Edinburgh was told Mr Wilkie's relationship with the woman had ended in August 2017. She then began seeing Davidson's friend Dickie.

The following January, the woman's car was "smashed up", which allegedly prompted Dickie and Davidson to make the threatening calls.

Mr Wilkie said that during the calls, Dickie asked him to meet at the Peter Pan Play Park in Kirriemuir, Angus.

When prosecution lawyer Ashley Edwards QC asked Mr Wilkie to recall what Davidson said, he replied: "Callum was shouting 'You're getting killed. I'm gonna kill you when I see you'."

In another call, Davidson allegedly told him: "I've got an axe. I'm going to find you s***e bag."

There’s definitely a pattern emerging.
Dickie and Davidson both have previous charges relating to dysfunctional relationships. There’s articles about Dickie assaulting another ex other than the one mentioned here.

It’s seeming more likely now that TG was also romantically involved with one of these two.

Previous victims must be feeling a sense of relief as it likely could have been any one of them. It was only a matter of time with these two men before it escalated.

Absolutely agree! On one hand, you might think that if previous victims had reported their behaviour to police then it might not have escalated but also, knowing our British ju8 system as we do ... the previous victims might have been too scared to report them.

BBM.

I think you have hit the nail on the head here. With being such a small community, I’d imagine people would have been scared to come forward for fear of repercussions.

I’ve found this article during the appeal for information stage that suggests even after Steven was murdered, people were scared to be forthcoming with information.

'Put an end to this nightmare': Plea to put fear aside and help catch those behind Steven Donaldson murder - The Courier

A journalist on Twitter stated back at the first court appearance that one of the accused was already on a prevention order and curfew. If this is correct, it’s not really surprising that people wouldn’t feel safe to talk or feel protected by the justice system.

As suspected, Dickie was in a relationship with TG at some point:
_____________

Miss Matthews, 24, said she was with Dickie for about four years until around 2014-15 when she started seeing Mr Wilkie.

They had an on-off relationship and she went back to Dickie during the breaks, the trial heard.

Her relationship with Mr Wilkie eventually ended in late 2017, and she stayed with Dickie until the following spring, after which she learned he was in a new relationship with Glass.

Ninewells Hospital clerical worker Miss Matthews told the trial she had heard a conversation between Dickie and Davidson in which they said they were going to “go after Sam”.

“They were going to get Sam to give a girl a lift and then Callum was going to run him off the road,” she said.

Asked by advocate depute Ashley Edwards if there had been any information about where that might be done, the witness said it was to be on Kinnordy Road, which runs past Kinnordy Loch.

She also told the court of an incident when her mother’s car was damaged and Dickie thought Mr Wilkie may have been responsible.

“He said he was going to get Sam and chop his head off. He went out, got an axe out of the back of his car and then drove off,” said Miss Matthews.

[...]

“He [Milo the cat] had been outside quite a lot and got his back leg cut and it was really bad,” she told the jury from the witness box.

“Callum said he would take it up to his farm. He said he would clean it out, disinfect it and stitch it up.”

“I saw them kind of swinging the bag, Callum kicked the bag, they put it in the van and then they drove off,” she said.

“They said they would bring it back in a few days, he was just resting.”

In response to prosecutor Ashley Edwards, Miss Young said she never saw Milo again.

“They said they had let it out in the forest and it ran off.”

WTF! What???? Is Callum a Vet??? Why the hell would you give an injured animal to him instead of taking it to a Vet?

Hopefully it made more sense in court. It does seem a bizarre thing to do.

Bit more from today. Motive?
A woman who allegedly murdered her ex-boyfriend owed him £3000, a court has heard.

Witness Paige Jolly said her friend Tasmin Glass, 20, told her Steven Donaldson wanted the cash a short time before his death in June 2018.

She told the High Court in Edinburgh that Glass told her that her mum was going to give Mr Donaldson the cash because she did not want to meet him.

Ms Jolly said: "She said it was something to do about three grand of his money. He said he was wanting the money back and her mum was going to do it.

"She said she was going to transfer it into her mum's account so she could give it to him. It was so she didn't have to meet him."

The witness later told the court that she had been in a short relationship with Glass's co-accused Steven Dickie, 24.

She said that she got to know Callum Davidson, 24, who is also accused of Mr Donaldson's murder, during that time.

The court heard that before going out with Dickie, she had a relationship with a man called Philip Coventry, but the pair were not on good terms since their split.

She told prosecution lawyer Ashley Edwards QC that Davidson offered to "sort Philip out" if she gave him £400 - an offer she said had "shocked her".

I’ve been out all day so just catching up. Thanks for the updates.

Dickie seemed to be a hit with the ladies? I can’t attach the link to the article because it’s from press reader but there is an incident with another girlfriend he was seeing between end of 2016 and early 2017 I’ve attached screenshots of the article.

I have no idea why you would just hand your kitten over to someone rather than take it to the vet.

Another witness, Billie Malley, 20, said she had been friendly with Glass for a number of years and that Donaldson had bought her a Volkswagen Scirocco car.

Miss Malley told the trial Glass asked her for money, adding: “I knew she was due Steven money for the insurance, the insurance money for the car that had been written off.”

The trial also heard evidence from building site nightwatchman Colin Chalmers about a phone call from Callum Davidson on the night of June 6 last year asking for “back-up”.

Oooh good find! @LittleMystery ...

The 2 guys accused definitely seem to have a history if beating up/threatening various girls ex boyfriends eh ... I'd love to know if they also have a history of violence against women/domestic violence too ...

Have attached screenshots from Press Reader for an incident with CD endangering a child also.

The trial heard there was “bad feeling” between Dickie and Mr Wilkie and Miss Matthews told police: “I remember one time Steven and Callum came to my house, they were on about writing Sam off the road at the Kinnordy to Kingoldrum road.

“It was just Callum who was going to get a Jeep or vehicle and he would write Sam off the road. Whatever evidence they had, Callum would throw in Backwater reservoir.”

Mr Duguid asked the witness: “If I’m reading this correctly you were saying it was Callum Davidson who was saying he was going to write him off the road and throw the evidence in Backwater Dam, is that what you’re saying?” Miss Matthews said: “Yeah.”
