During the opening of the case, jurors were told Qazimaj, who identifies with two other names, had gambling debts and borrowed money from friends and colleagues.

He denies being Ali Qazimaj, and instead claims to be a man called Vital Dapi, but jurors were told he is lying...

The court was told the couple have one daughter, Chrissy, who married a man called Steven Paxman and took his surname.

Steven's father, Sidney Paxman, who lives in Grays, Essex, had a wife called Nellie and Qazimaj used to be her carer.

Following her death a few years ago he became Sidney's carer after a hip replacement and the court was told the pair had a close relationship and Qazimaj called Sidney "dad".

An Albanian asylum seeker murdered a husband and wife he thought were millionaires after running up gambling debts, a court has heard...

"Over these years Sidney Paxman will say he had told Ali Qazimaj about the Stuarts, describing them as millionaires, telling him about the difficulties between the Stuarts and Stephen (Paxman)"...

Mr Khalil said phone records and number plate cameras provided evidence Qazimaj made several "unexplained trips" to Suffolk before the deaths of the Stuarts...

He said a bank card belonging to Mrs Stuart was used to withdraw £300 on May 30 and attempts were made to withdraw a further £700, though the person making the withdrawals could not be identified in CCTV images.

So we have a connection at last. And a motive.

A bank card belonging to a 69-year-old Suffolk woman who was allegedly murdered by an Essex man was used to withdraw cash more than 100 miles away the day after she was last seen alive, a court has heard...

Yesterday (Tuesday) the jury was shown CCTV footage from Goodies food store in Pulham Market on May 29, which was the last time anyone saw the couple alive...

Yesterday the jury heard statements from work colleagues of Ali Qazimaj at Shield Environmental in Purfleet who described him as “hardworking” and as “a bit of a fantasist”.

The court heard he had handed in his notice on June 3 last year.

Not a lot of media coverage of this trial.

Peter was stabbed in the back and chest nine times, no signs of him defending himself:

orensic pathologist Brett Lockyer told a jury at Ipswich Crown Court that some of the stab wounds to Peter Stuart’s body, which was found in a ditch near his Weybread home in June last year, had damaged bone and would have required “severe” force.

Dr Lockyer said that eight of the stab wounds had caused significant injuries and any one of them could have killed Mr Stuart.

The court heard that one of the wounds, which was 8cm deep, had penetrated Mr Stuart’s heart and three of the other wounds had caused fatal damage to major blood vessels resulting in serious blood loss.

Dr Lockyer told the court there were no injuries to Mr Stuart’s hands or arms which would have indicated that he had tried to defend himself during the attack.

AQ still claims he isn't AQ:

I haven't really been following this, but just seen he's been found guilty.

Det Ch Insp Andy Guy said: "The jury saw through the bizarre and unbelievable claims Qazimaj made in the court.

"The assertion that there was another man who looked identical to him, shared the same DNA and handwriting styles, and disappeared at the same time he appeared in Luxembourg is beyond belief."

ETA: sentenced to 35 years today, doesn't look like he's going to give up Mrs Stuart's body.

In a statement, the Stuarts' family said: "To the twisted individual who committed this wicked crime, we hope you spend the rest of your miserable existence reflecting on the utter senselessness and brutality of what you did to two innocent people.

"Maybe one day you will find the moral courage to tell us where mum is so that we may give her and our family some final peace."

Qazimaj's statement in court also said: "I feel sorry for the Stuarts' daughter, but I can't help. I don't know where her mother's body is."

He showed no reaction as he was led to the cells.
