Shocking reports imo.

More than 70 prisoners released by mistake in 2016-17 amid violence surge

Official figures reveal a record 71 convicted criminals or suspects were mistakenly freed in England and Wales

Dozens of prisoners have been released by mistake, official figures from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) have revealed, and prison violence has surged to a new high.

In 2016-17, 71 convicted criminals or suspects were mistakenly freed, a rise of seven on the previous year and the highest number since current records began a decade ago. It means inmates were released in error at a rate of more than one a week. :furious:

Another interesting article referencing UK so putting it here :

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40767206

A record number of criminals have had their sentences increased after people complained that they were too lenient.

These included 41 sex offences, 19 of grievous bodily harm with intent and 16 involving robbery.

Only one person needs to ask for a sentence to be reviewed, and anyone - not just the victim - can request it.

Fourteen sex offenders who originally escaped being sent to prison are now serving time.

One rapist and one attempted murderer had their determinate sentences replaced with life sentences

I haven't found a thread or mention for this one. I heard about this because a friend of mine knows some family members.

Abigale Spree, 15, Kent.

I did not see this post until now and would post a thread for her but she was just recently found safe and well:

Thanks for posting!

Hi Everyone.

I'm relatively new here, and I am trying to start a thread (or 3) that have come to my attention recently, but I don't have the "Start New Thread" button on any forum pages? (I looked at and tried to follow the rules posted in the forum but I didn't get far without having the start button ...)

The cases I am referring to are:
https://stv.tv/news/scotland/1390339-manhunt-after-woman-murdered-and-boy-16-attacked/ https://stv.tv/news/west-central/1390754-man-charged-with-murder-of-woman-and-attack-on-her-son/

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-norfolk-40875712

http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/...r-the-death-of-his-baby-daughter-07072017.htm

I was attempting to open these in the Crimes In The News section.

If anyone can start these please can you do so? Or if you think they should not be on here, please just ignore me :)

Cheers!
