Garbage bags for his clothes

There are commercial flights flying out of this regional airport.

SkyWest Airlines (Delta Airlines) has daily flights between Moab and Salt Lake City, UT.

Skywest Airlines which operates as United Express and Delta Connection is the only airline service at Canyonlands airport with service only to SLC. It would be a small CRJ200 regional jet. Garbage bags would NOT be accepted as checked baggage, however, and would be refused. One could carry a small shopping bag as a "carry on", but it would have to be quite small to fit in the overhead of such an aircraft. If he had a backpack, that would be his one allowed carry on and any other item would be limited to one "personal" item which would have to be a maximum of 9 inches x 10 inches x 17 inches and fit under the seat of the smaller seats in such an aircraft. It's possible that when he was told he couldn't fly with garbage bags full of clothing he perhaps left the airport to get to Salt Lake another way.

This seems very plausible.

Is it a populated area with nearby buses, trains, etc?

We have a small local airport here in the middle of nowhere IL and it will fly you to bigger airports nearby or other small airports in the state. We do have a greyhound that stops twice a day, but that's it, there's no uber lol We do have a couple sketchy cheap motels and one holiday inn, but cheap motels are still pricey if you don't have money.

I wish we knew more of where he would be able to go.

Looks like greyhound has a no plastic bag policy too
Amtrak too

There is shuttle service that looks like it would take you to/from this airport to places in Moab: Offering Airport & Private Shuttles | Moab Express

Also the distance between the city of Moab and this airport is 19 miles so I could see Uber/Lyft being willing to pick up. That is just my opinion and not a fact. It's possible if he was denied entrance on the flight that he found a way to get to Moab. From there, who knows?

Do we know if he is FROM Moab or was he in the area traveling from elsewhere?
