I've been thinking about this and here are two of my thoughts. Once I heard the Lyft driver was a woman I have to believe she had some more information she shared with LE.
Women are more curious then men and if I was driving and picked up a pretty young woman at the airport at that late hour to drive to a park you can believe my ears and eyes would perk up. So there's that.
Women are curious. Men seem to be 'whatever' kind of people. No offense.
My next thought is that even though the cameras were not working at the park that whole city is full of cameras and they have a timeline from when she was dropped off from the I hope 'inquisitive' Lyft driver.
If the driver even noticed the cars color or type of car that would be a huge bonus for the empty streets in the middle of the night. Fingers crossed LE is working this one good and tight.

Okay just speculation...what if

the Lyft driver that she requested had an accomplice who had the same car as him (disguised to be his car). Say ML got into that car, the actual Lyft driver drove to "her destination" without her in the car while the other fake Lyft driver took ML to some other location. Pretty far fetched...but possible?
Nah, I doubt it. Because lyft traces his route; if he has already been cleared then I'm sure that they looked into whether or not it was his phone logged into his account, and whether or not his location tracking shows him making that trip.

I haven't mentioned it on here because I don't think it's relevant to the case at all, but before I read the details I was wondering if this was another 'black market lyft/uber' thing. There's an app that can hijack a rideshare driver's app and give them info on who is being picked up, who they think is picking them up, where to get them, etc. Their car won't match the details but they will call the passenger over to the car by name and claim that their other car is being serviced or something. It has been happening a lot lately. If you want to know more about it, I'd suggest going on YouTube and looking up 'uber/lyft scam'

I disagree. Not a stretch at all.
Her social media shows that Kenzie is a very open minded individual.
I don't think she would be particularly shocked, that someone liked her enough to follow her back to Salt Lake City.
Her initial surprise may quickly turn to flattery, especially if she is feeling down, and needs some attention.
As for the park: he may have texted, and asked if she would meet him 'near his hotel'.
The park may have been his idea..... or it could have been Kenzie's

Open minded enough to text someone she knew (or "knew" online) at 3:00 AM from the airport to meet her in the park. I think that's what happened. Simple and straightforward. What happened after she met him is what we don't know.

Hi there folks. I'm new here, and signed up just to provide some information about hatch park as I grew up in Bountiful, the town directly adjacent to North Salt Lake (NSL).

North Salt Lake and Bountiful are effectively one suburb of salt lake to the north, and are quite separated from Salt Lake itself by a very industrial area (Beck Street has many oil refineries and storage garages). Hatch Park, while visible from the freeway, is not especially prominent along that section. You probably drive by it in about 3 seconds. It's a very small park that only people local to NSL and perhaps Bountiful would even know the name.

Which brings me to my insight I'll share with all of you. If you wanted to meet with someone and they are going to get back on the freeway, heading north or south, you'd meet at 2600S in Bountiful. It's a big exit with onramp/off-ramps in both directions, with a gas station, a huge grocery store, and lots of public places. It's maybe another 60-90 seconds on the freeway to the north. The freeway exit near Hatch Park only has a south-bound off-ramp. It's really, really inconvenient to then get back on the freeway from that location.

Whoever met with ML knows the area very well, and likely lives, in NSL/Bountiful. There are other places to meet that are more inconspicuous, and other places that are more conspicuous. Either way, it's always struck me as a really odd place to meet knowing the logistics of getting to that park.

I don’t understand why LE said they don’t know if she used her phone at the airport - how else would she have ordered her Lyft ride? Unless they mean they don’t know if she placed or received a call?
Someone can order a Lyft on your behalf. For example, if you have house guests flying-in and you choose to order them a Lyft rather then picking them up yourself. I've done this myself, and been the recipient of, with "black car" services.

Here is a completely different spin on the park meeting; question of drugs; etc. Please note this is all just my opinion...and thoughts from my mind thinking of different scenarios. What if: She was bringing back some sort of drugs (small to medium amount) from LA; and her meeting in the park was to drop them off. She gets in the car to deliver them- they stay or drive away from the park. The "deal" goes down - but the payment to ML for transportation etc, is not what was agreed upon. She is a feisty gal - perhaps there was an argument that got physical...and didn't end well. There are many crimes of this nature here in NorCal and it usually doesn't end well for someone. jmo

Wouldn't have been able to board the plane at LAX. Wouldn't have made it through security.

I guess anything is "possible", but extremely unlikely. Probably as unlikely as Bigfoot waiting for her in the bushes at the park.

Foremost, the app displays the driver's picture...

My daughter would so agree with you. I think the bags aside, it seems weird to some that the person waiting at the park to pick her up doesn't get out of the vehicle to greet or give her a warm embrace. If this is someone known to her, and knows she just got off a red-eye from a funeral weekend, then it's kind of rude behavior to just sit there and wait for her to get in before welcoming her home.
What if it was a woman picking her up!

This is the first I am hearing the Lyft driver is female.
