Thank you! I've never listened to one of the radio shows, just wanted to be sure!

So...they discuss that she has had problems with drugs and possibly alcohol in the past. What if the babies were very underweight, because of drug abuse? She might not have showed. I am a similar height and weight to her, and I never started showing until the very end, with a normal sized baby. I could have hidden a pregnancy with an underweight baby...possible with a healthy baby. In addition, what if she knew the babies would be born on drugs? Could that be why she killed them, and why one was stillborn? There would be no need to hide her pregnancy or harm her living children, if she was clean and the babies would be healthy.

Then there is the affair she is having, that got her kicked out of that house. The babies could be his, or the result of other affairs.

One Mother, 7 Dead Newborns and a Stunned Community in Utah

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah — For Megan Huntsman, life was a miserable struggle. Her marriage decayed into substance abuse and violence, she told people close to her. Her ailing father’s suicide pitched her into despair and heavy drinking. Illness ravaged her family. She lost her job at a supermarket bakery and spent recent days alone at her boyfriend’s trailer home.

Thanks CarolinaMoon! That article had a lot more information about the family dynamics. The take away for me was 1) they met when she was in high school, 2) she graduated 1993, 3) he was convicted of raping a 13 y/o when he was 18 in 1991, 3) he worked in construction, 4) she frequently had black eyes and suffered from low self esteem, 5) no reports of domestic violence were ever reported and she never disclosed any, 6) the home and garage was searched by LEO for drugs during the times the babies were born/died, 7) when he called her to tell her he reported finding the infant's body (just one) she stated this was a still-born and she kinda freaked out - she then begged him for a gun.

Wow! IMO - lots of elements of power and control!!! (on both sides)

I think this article to me, makes me believe she is not crazy. Mental issues, sure. Legally insane...nope. I am guessing she didn't want the babies to be born in the situation, or the babies were born addicted to drugs and alcohol. Probably a combination of both issues throughout the years.

I thought that the NY Times did a wonderful, well-researched article. It does give us a better base to work from.

If she doesn't accept a plea deal, the defense will use this background to her advantage. However, in spite of probable abuse, I hope she does a very long time in prison. Next up, we'll have a defense discussing all of her "bad decisions" instead of seven murders.

It will probably be a long time before we learn the sex and parentage of the poor little ones. That information may help clear up a lot of questions we have asked here as to her motives.

Megan Huntsman appeared in court today.

Huntsman is in jail on $6 million bail, charged with six counts of first-degree murder. She has not yet entered a plea.

Utah County Attorney Jeff Buhman told reporters after court Monday that prosecutors have not had any discussions about a possible plea deal.

DNA results have revealed that all seven babies were full term and West was the biological father of the infants.

While it remains uncertain how West remained oblivious to the numerous pregnancies and births despite living with Huntsman during that period, he is currently not considered a suspect in their deaths. But according to DNA testing, West was the biological father of all seven babies—five girls and two boys—and was recently released from prison after serving eight years for cooking meth.

I'm not buying that the father did not know she was pregnant. These were full term babies.

They were likely both meth addicts so I could believe that he was so strung out he didn't notice.

Wow I'm just seeing this case, but makes me think of the MA case with Erika Murray. Crazy.
