When the father confronted Nielsen about the theft, the report states Nielsen warned him that "if he got police involved he will set off a chain of events he's not going to like because he is a member of a gang."

Police reports state Nielsen was affiliated with an Insane Clown Posse, or Juggalos gang and had access to guns.

But despite putting the DNA into a national database, there have been no matches after five years...

There is still a $50,000 reward offered by the Miller family for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Black's killer. Police pleaded with the public on Monday for anyone with information to step forward.

Utah launches new cold case database
"The database is the result of SB160, which was passed during last year's legislative session. The new law makes it mandatory for Utah law enforcement agencies to enter their cold cases and missing persons cases into the database. Any case that remains unsolved for three years must be submitted to the database.

"Now we have to put the information in so connections will be made," Brown said.

There are more than 400 cold cases in Utah, according to the state, including homicide and missing people cases, and deceased people who have yet to be identified."
"The state already had a cold case and missing person website for many years. But Karra Porter, head of the nonprofit Utah Cold Case Coalition — a group dedicated to helping solve cold cases in Utah that was consulted during the formation of the new database — said the old state website hadn't been updated since 2007.

"Cases like Sherry Black are not mentioned on any publicly available website anywhere," she said.

On Nov. 30, 2010, Black, 64, the mother-in-law of former Larry H. Miller Group CEO Greg Miller, was found stabbed to death inside her bookstore, B&W Billiards and Books at 3466 S. 700 East. To date, there is no known motive for the killing, and police have not identified a suspect or a person of interest.

Porter said when talking with lawmakers when the database was proposed, she printed a list of cold cases that her group had compiled, and compared it to the state database.

"The first 14 on our list were not on a public database. So there was a signficant need for this," she said."

Cold cases: Utah cases that remain unsolved years later
"Sherry Black was found murdered in her bookstore in South Salt Lake in Nov. 2010. Black’s husband was the one to discover her body. There is no evidence of forced entry and nothing appeared to be missing from her bookstore. The suspect of the murder reportedly left a brown imitation Armani brand belt at the scene with a sticker on the buckle with the numbers ‘323’. Black’s loved ones are offering a $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.''

Could the perp have a thing against the former Utah Jazz CEO and took it out on the mother-in-law perhaps thinking she was actually his mother?, speculation, imo.

Crimewatch: the Murder of Sherry Black
“She had been brutally beaten and murdered,” Rosie Rivera, Salt Lake County Sheriff says.

''Rivera says the crime did not appear to be well-planned.''
Police believe the killer left a brown imitation Armani Exchange belt at the scene of the crime, though they don’t believe it was used in the murder.

Police believe the person who killed Sherry Black left this belt at the crime scene.

Police say this imitation Armani Exchange was left behind by the person who killed Sherry Black.

''Investigators were able to collect DNA, finger and palm prints as evidence and enter them into a database. Because of that DNA, they were more recently able to release a composite of what the suspect might look like, in hopes it would help lead to an arrest. The phenotype is not meant to represent an exact depiction, as there are variables within DNA.''

''Black was the mother-in-law of Greg Miller, the former CEO of the Utah Jazz. The Miller family is providing the $250,000 reward in the case.

Again, if you have information about the murder of Sherry Black, contact Salt Lake County’s cold case detectives at 385-468-9816.''

''On Saturday, Unified Police arrested 29-year-old Adam Antonio-Spen Durborrow* of Orem in connection with the murder of Sherry Black, who was beaten and stabbed to death on Nov. 30, 2010 in South Salt Lake.

Durborow was arrested on aggravated murder and aggravated burglary charges, both first-degree felonies. He is being held without bail.

According to a probable cause for arrest statement, DNA was collected from Durborow on Wednesday, and it came back Thursday as a match to DNA evidence collected from the murder scene — B&W Billiards & Books, which the victim and her husband owned.''

"The diligent work of the detectives from both agencies over the last ten years has resulted in today’s arrest," Sheriff Rosie Rivera wrote in a statement. "I want to thank the detectives, investigators, and many others from UPD, SSLPD, DA, the Utah Crime Lab, and Parabon Nanolabs for working together in common pursuit of justice for the Black family."

Very interested in the motive considering that nothing was stolen, although he has been in trouble for shoplifting in the past. (Maybe it was at that store and was reported, so he got in trouble and went back out of revenge?)
Needlessly brutal crime, Ms Black was beaten and stabbed, seems personal, maybe we will learn more about the motive tomorrow, imo, speculation.
