I know - kinda like Molesterfield going camping, then dropping off all the bedding at the cleaners in his bare feet. If you followed the Danielle Van Dam case.

Stoopid, stoopid, stoopid men!

This case certainly has similarities to all the ones we've followed, doesn't it?

Molesterfield, Cheaterson, Hacking, Drewpee, I'm sure we could come up with more.

Molesterfields trip to the dry cleaners with his bedding.
Peterson going fishing on Christmas Eve, leaving a very pregnant wife at home to prepare for brunch the next day, then suddenly Laci disappears.
Hacking and the disappearance story, and the fake life story.
Drew P with the she left with another man story.

I do have to say that JP is adding in details like SP, but only when asked repeatedly.

He's clamming up now, but showing his face. He must feel comfortable now that his FIL is here and is taking up for him. Maybe it will give him a false sense of security. You know LE has to be tailing him. I wonder when he'll attempt to go back to where he went Sunday at midnight. LE needs to ask him to take them there, since they can't seem to find anything.

I was so hoping to see an arrest was made.

My prayers go out to the family. They are going to need many prayers to give them strength in the next week, as I think it will get rough.

'Let's not stop looking for my daughter'

WVC » Missing mom's father pleads for people to stop focusing so much on her husband.

Cox last spoke to his daughter Dec. 3, when they talked about a box of Christmas toys he had sent their family. He learned Susan was missing Monday, and the following day he spoke to his son-in-law for the only time since her disappearance.

Powell told him he last saw her at about 12:30 a.m., when she went to sleep, Cox said. That wasn't an unusual time for her to go to bed, he said. Powell did not tell him what he has told police and media, which is that he went camping with his two sons, ages 2 and 4, at about midnight, Cox said.

When asked whether he believes that story, he said: "I don't know."

But the explanation is plausible, he said, given Joshua Powell's tendency to lose track of time and act on the spur of the moment.

Sooo - Joshy tells his FIL the last time he saw Susan was at 12:30, but didn't bother to tell him what a great time was had by all at the wee-hours-of-the-nite-camping-in-subzero-temps-and-snowstorm-in-the-desert outing.

Fran needs to add that one to the hinky list.

"I can tell you that the pain he feels is real. I could feel it," Graves said. The family hopes to find her alive, he said. In the meantime, Joshua and his two sons have stayed with Graves and his wife Jennifer, Joshua Powell's sister.

"We are doing our best to shelter them from this whole situation," Graves said.

Graves and his wife better be sleeping in shifts, I think that control freak could go off at any time. He is facing the fact he has lost all control.

IMO

Okay - finally found the 'financial troubles'

<snip>

Cox and Hellewell said that the Powells had financial troubles in the past, but had mostly solved their problems. Cox said that the couple were occasionally unemployed, but both were working when Susan Powell disappeared. Cox had helped his daughter and son-in-law financially in the past, he said.

According to court documents, Josh Powell filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in April 2007, listing more than $200,000 in credit card, furniture, student loan and other debts, not including the family's mortgage and car. At the time, Josh Powell listed his occupation as a Realtor for Homenet Real Estate and Susan Powell was listed as a homemaker.

Not to mention I just read it was Jennifer who called Susan's dad because she was worried....Joshy may not be too happy about his sis blowing his cover.

That is so telling he did not call the dad.

The dad knows things don't add up.

But, Cox said during a phone interview Thursday night, "Parts of [Joshua's] story are hard to believe. There's parts of it that just begs: What really happened?"

I swear in some of his pictures I can see he is just replaying the murder of her and he can't understand why he is still free. He looks very haunted.

For those of you who wanted to know how close Susan’s house
was to her church here is a map from google.

It is 0.3 mi and takes about 1 min. in a car.

Hope this helps

Hmmm. Now I thought that originally, the whole family was thought to be missing. Yet Hellewell, when she did get Josh on the phone, told him just about Susan and told him he needed to come home?

Well, that has my hinky meter up! It will all come out. In time.

Great catch. At the time they were looking for the whole family, so the friend wouldn't call and say get home they are looking for Susan. It's more likely she would have said, oh thank goodness you are ok, we were worried about you all. Is everything ok? Then Josh says oh, me and the kids are driving around (not sure if he said that, or that is how she relayed what he said) and she says, what Susan isn't with you?

She wouldn't just call to say we are looking for Susan because you are correct the whole family was believed to be missing at this point.

My bet is this "best friend" is in deep.

I don't think so.
I've talked to her via emails and she seems like a good friend!

Josh seems like a real strange bird to me....I don't see a girlfriend angle in this -- but the control freak w/ money troubles -- now that speaks volumes to me.

It wouldn't surprise me if he were the jealous type too...they'd been to the Christmas party the nite before, and maybe he got bent outta shape because she was enjoying herself too much -- with male or female friends....however, I think w/ her talking of leaving him, he would be more angry if she was chatting w/ men.....some guys can't stand their 'woman' enjoying herself, they are so insecure & consequently jealous & controlling.

do you think the content of the phone call may have been misreported then? Reporting these days is horrendous.

I just don't understand why'd she'd say we/they are looking for Susan when no one knew where anyone in that family was.

I agree about the girlfriend angle.
There is a picture posted on the FB page they set up for Susan
of them at the Christmas party.
One comment was how happy she looked. It's hard to tell
because she isn't looking at the camera and it's a candid picture but she
doesn't look real happy.
I was thinking maybe they had been fighting and she did bring up divorce...

What bothers me is what is missing in that conversation/quote...
I have not seen that he bothered to call home to check on his wife. It seems weird that he wouldn't try to call her (she was not feeling well afterall) or her call him to check on them in the morning before she left for work with this cold weather and storm on the way...

I'm not sure if it was wrong content or just not all of the content.
I know the local news said that the day care the kids were supposed to
be at was one of their friends.
She may be the one who watched them. And maybe that is why she knew
his cell phone.

Besides I thought I heard that the friend called Josh and he said he was
driving around with the boys.
She may have asked if Susan was with them and when she found out
she wasn’t she may have told him that she was missing.

I don't think at this point we can jump to the friend being his girlfriend
when we don't know how the whole conversation went.

I also don't get the feeling that the friend is involved.
She is one of the main people organizing all the efforts to find Susan
with flyers, fb page etc. Doing news interviews...
I don't think she would be doing that if she had something to hide.
