Found Deceased VA - August Farley, 2, Smith Mountain Lake, Huddleston, 5 July 2018

A 2 year old boy was last seen around 6 a.m., missing from Rosewood Lane in Huddleston. The boy has long brown hair and is wearing dinosaur pajama pants and a yellow pajama shirt. The caller told officials they are from Texas and are renting a house at the lake.

Officials have called for a drone and aircraft to assist in the search for a missing two-year-old boy at Smith Mountain Lake. The search involves personnel on the ground and in the air.

The sheriff's office has not yet released his name or a photo. People who live in the area are helping with the land and water searches.

Authorities are requesting that no one else come down there. Adding more people will make things confusing for law enforcement.

There are a number of resources en route, including more boats.

The Bedford Sheriff's Office Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is at the scene to help.

Ugh, we were just at Smith Mountain Lake yesterday. It is huge and there are so many tourists right now. I’m really scared for this baby.

There is a former rental next to my grandmother’s house and it used to terrify me that a lot of the renters would just let kids run in and out without nearly enough supervision so close to the water. I’m not saying that’s the case here at all but sometimes people who don’t live around water don’t know the extent of safety precautions that are necessary.

Multiple state and local agencies have been called in to help.

Search dogs are assisting in the effort, and dive teams from the Scruggs Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue squad and the Virginia State Police were standing by.

I have seen and heard the helicopter for at least the last 30 minutes.
