The recons of Haymarket Jane Doe are all over the map, but she appears to have a weak chin and square jaws as does Barbara.

The height, age, and timeframe are all good.

CarlK, I can't put my finger on it, but there is something about this match that I really like. I hope you call it in.

I used to bartend at the Embassy Suites in the mid-90's, and there was a woman who worked there briefly who looked spot-on like Barbara. She also was from New York. But she was only in her early 20's at the time. She was definitely too young to have been Barbara.

But when I saw that photo for a second, I said to myself - "I know that girl!"

I received a reply from Dr. Shane Chittenden (Local ME Contact for Haymarket Jane Doe)

I have forwarded your e-mail to Mrs. Baldwin and Yoakam. Please send any additional correspondence to either one who returns your e-mail.

Received a reply from Paul Yoakam of the Virginia Dept of Health (VDH)

On our unidentified we have STR & mtDNA in the DNA Data Banks, we also have dental for comparison. The Bruno girl’s family DNA has been submitted to UNT for analysis. So it’s a waiting game until those profiles are completed. paul

Thanks this is another one of my pet cases I would love to see solved.

Carl,

I should have told you to ask Paul Yoakam if they know anymore about Cynthia Gastelle http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/g/gastelle_cynthia.html

or
Marcia Remick
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/r/remick_marcia.html

I am wondering if they were able to obtain DNA sample from their families??

I just posed that question in a reply to his e-mail.

Paul Yoakum replied as follows:
Carl,
There is DNA on both in the system, State and National. paul

The implication is that these two are rule-outs by default.

Good thanks... I should see if both their profiles say they have DNA in the system.

I received an email from NamUs that they added another exclusion to the rule out list yesterday... The new names I see added to the rule out list since last October are:

Charlotte Loomis, Missing from New Jersey. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/6309/0/

Evangeline Silva, Missing from CA https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/12864/0/

I am glad to know they are staying active on this case!!

Cynthia Gastelle, Marcia Remick and now Barbara Bruno are still not on the rule out list!

Could someone please submit Dena Viola Mchan its worth a shot! Thanks!

This girl is not on the rule out list, she fits the time frame, and the age. The height is off (but hello, I have seen that be off a lot) and the UID was found with a size 5 shoe, Lorraine had a size 8 1/2 shoe. Loraine has DNA in the system (not sure which system). I am going to email Paul Yoakum to see what he says...

I received an email back from Paul Yoakum a few weeks ago and forgot to post. I know Carl asked him about Marcia Remick and Cynthia Gastelle, but I wanted to know what kind of DNA they had on them along with the UID. I also asked about Lorraine Herbster. Here is the response I got back:

We have nuclear & mt DNA on our unidentified which are in Va & National DNA Data Banks; also all three MP girls have mt DNA with National. We did family DNA for Cynthia Gastelle for Maryland. paul

I also got an email from NamUs today saying they added another exclusion. I am wondering why none of these girls are on the rule out list if they were already ruled out with DNA? I need to figure out exactly who was just added to the rule out list.

CODIS rule-outs by default are not usually posted to the NamUs exclusion lists. The NamUs lists usually only reflect the results of work done within the NamUs system.

Carl,

Have you ever heard back from the Takoma PD about a comparison between the UID and Cynthia Gastelle? Cynthia is still not listed on the UID's rule out page in NamUs. The NamUs file was just modified on July 18th... not sure exactly what was modified...

I think this is a good potential match!!

Cynthia Gastelle's NamUs casefile is now closed.

This missing person has been found. Therefore this case is restricted to authorized persons ONLY.

Dang it, I thought it was her! So does that mean she was found alive?

Carl, You need to become a member of the NamUs team.

I just dropped an e-mail to Paul Yoakam to see if he knows.

Hi all — forgive me if you don't think this is a facial match. The stats and location are consistent. The missing girl is in NamUs but has neither dentals nor DNA. Thoughts?

Cynthia Joan Gastelle

It was her. Congratulations Zinc and Chaddy.

In response to my question to Paul Yoakam:

"Do you have any information regarding whether [Cynthia Gastelle] was matched up to a Jane Doe, or if she was found alive?"

... He replied:

We got her identified by DNA with our 1982 Northern District unidentified remains. paul

Good job! I am so happy she can finally go home, although in sad circumstances.
