This says she called her mother on the morning of 9/5. "The husband and Cook’s mother claim that Lauren contacted them both the morning of court, letting them know that she and the kids were safe, according to authorities. However, she did not share where she was."

The mother has heard nothing from her since September 5, 2023, 17 days ago. That's why I'm not convinced. I hope @Simply Southern is right. I hope she's on the run with the kids. But, there are other red flags here, particularly with her spouse not speaking out for days when we now know from the linked article that he was apparently in court that day and by his very presence, knew she and the kids were not. Unless, they had separate times for appearance? The protocol, I'd guess, is also to wait for a face to face in-person identification for proof of life.

She spoke to Lauren on the 20th and did not deny this when asked by reporters today. There was a court appearance on the 20th

When reached on Friday, Tousa declined to confirm whether she spoke with her daughter earlier in the week.

"I will confirm that I am worried about my daughter and I'm worried about my grandchildren," Tousa said. "My daughter and my grandchildren are still missing. No one knows where they are."

That does it for me. If this is all accurate reporting, it's pretty hard to argue against the fact that she's doing this willingly. The care for her is erased. Find the kids, then lock her up. That's moo

They changed the missing date from the 5th to the 7th. Is this related to them confirming her in Illinois? They make reference to Illinois (below) on the 13th - 8 days after she and the children disappeared.

From your link: "At one point, law enforcement believed they were in Litchfield, Illinois, but this week authorities said they determined that the family had since left the area. It appears that they had only been in Litchfield for one night before leaving on Sept. 13."

So, who saw her? Why won't they say?

Whatever it is that she was supposed to appear for it doesn't look like there would be an avenue to issue a bench warrant for her arrest. https://www.vacourts.gov/courts/jdr/jdrinfo.pdf

And, the fact that they still have her as "missing" as opposed to "fleeing" or in contempt for disregarding a summons to appear, leads me to believe LE might not be so convinced she was in Litchfield. It's strange. I don't know.

It appears, to me, they have just determined an exact date. Others mentions were "around" the 7th.

Moo...I feel FCSD is choosing words careful, LC is on the run, we don't know her mental state, or the charges in J&D, there has to be a law broken, to justify the court appearance. No one can predict what might happen. I find it unusual the entire family was requested in court. Is that odd?

I know VSP are involved, it's the law and I highly suspect the FBI. We do alot with the FBI, Quantico is in Virginia.

Moo, I think they have much more on the path she has traveled, but aren't releasing. Virginia has amazing capabilities.

These statements...oh just show the kids to any LE and we will clear the MP. Nah...nope, they will arrest her for kidnapping, failure to appear and alot more. No they want those children. VA sent agents to Litchfield, Ill.

All my opinion....

The mother of a missing Virginia mom tells TODAY.com that she and her family are "deeply concerned," revealing that her daughter is pregnant.

"We are deeply concerned for our daughter Lauren, and our grandchildren Benjamin, Hannah, Elijah and our unborn grandchild," Lisa Tousa tells TODAY.comvia email.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation Sep. 13 after Lauren failed to appear for a court date in the county’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Coffindaffer said the specific court is significant.

“Those courts specifically deal with things like child abuse, they deal with issues like separation and custody matters,” she said. “So it tells me something very important was being discussed about those children.”

It would be interesting if her parents addressed her missing court appearances, and gave their opinion on whether those missed appearances would make her go off.
I think the reason Lauren's mother danced around the question of whether she spoke to Lauren 2 days ago is because she knows people will stop looking for her if they know she left on her own. They aren't eager to speak about any reasons she'd have to flee and not want to be found because they still want people to help them look for her.

We’re told law enforcement officers have been unable to ping Cook’s phone since Sept. 7.

“This is the typical protocol for when someone is entered in as missing,” the sheriff’s office said. “A reported phone call, phone ping, photo, video, audio, etc. is not sufficient to clear the missing persons alert out of the system. There must be an in-person, face-to-face meeting with a law enforcement officer.”

I think Lauren was expecting the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court might remove the children from the family. Why else would she be a no-show for the court date, take her kids on-the-run and remain off the grid. I'm praying there is no foul play involved and all four will return safely home.

I've never understood why parents who are in danger of or have already had their children removed wouldn't jump through every single hoop DCFS would want them to in order to keep their children.
If Lauren thinks running is going to help, she's sorely mistaken.

She was a midwife in Utah

Doula and mid wife are two seperate entities

Sorry, I can't find this quotation anywhere in the articles linked to your post.

Perhaps they were removed because they were inflammatory?

*Idk what happened. Strange…but it’s here at this article:

I am questioning if this is actually a voluntary disappearance. I question whether LE did confirm that Lauren called her mother and husband within days after her disappearance with children. Am I the only one thinking foul play?

No, you aren't. But, I started leaning away from this when all of the court appearance information started coming out. If there was a chance her children were going to be taken away, I can see a scenario where she runs. It seems odd to wait to run until the day of, though.
