When he told LE that he was taking the baby to Nepal, perhaps he was planning to return to US and remarry? It's such a shame that Mamta's mother did not come to help out, that MIL insisted. Seems to have made things exponentially worse. MOOO.
IMO, this is a patriarchal structure whereas the wife becomes a part of the husband's family, so it would fall on the mother-in-law to take on these responsibilities. The husband's family assumes the primary role in the couple's life. Additionally, it would fall on the MIL to properly care for and support the DIL during postpartum. This is part of their duty and expectation. Now, what happened here; I couldn't speak to why obviously the MIL and DIL didn't get along. Can someone please help me find an article somewhere that read that Naresh didn't approve of Mamta's Tiktoks? Maybe I'm dreaming but I thought I'd read it somewhere.

Months before his wife’s disappearance, a Manassas Park man with a government contracting job used his work computer to google “How long does it take to get married after spouse dies,” a prosecutor said in court

Ben-Avraham said Naresh Bhatt had no intention of running, even though he had recently sold his Tesla and spoken to two potential buyers of the home he shared with Mamta Bhatt and their 1-year-old daughter, who was placed in the care of county social services workers after his arrest. The sales were to provide money for his family, Ben-Avraham said.

“He only has U.S. citizenship,” the defense attorney said. “This is not something he’s going to be able to run from.”

Sami also provided additional details illuminating the allegedly troubled relationship between Mamta and Naresh Bhatt, a U.S. Army veteran. In February, police were called to the couple’s home for an allegation of disorderly conduct, Sami told the court. Officers spoke with Mamta Bhatt, who said her husband would not give her official documents and destroyed her phone.

.

I think the guy who sold him the house joked. It is either on Naresh's or Mamta's FB or maybe both. The realtor mentioned a house, a Tesla, ¹a job at the white house but "white" was not capitalized so maybe, a joke.
I how LE will look into his mortgage for discrepancies in the loan documents and large life insurance policies.

It is so hard to look at this situation AND trust any words this man has said. I think all of his jobs have been inflated by him. His community trusted his words. He clearly did have some WH tour connection but the idea that he was LE, WH worker, etc are probably as true as when he said he had not seen her since that night in the kitchen or that he was not going to run.... Allegedly, he is a murdering liar who will do whatever he wants unless he is stopped. Glad he is stopped and stowed away in jail right now. Any in his community would be right to fear retaliation if was free on bond. He has nothing to lose now. JMHO.

We know his police one definitely was inflated. He claimed to have worked for 9 months (which is still a massive red flag), but in reality lasted 22 days before he was kicked out of the academy.

Stands to reason this is part of a pattern.

A lot of the men I listed in the post I made a few days ago were fantasists. Claimed to be working for the CIA, FBI, etc. to cover up their actual behaviour - cheating, gambling, financial scamming, and such. Claimed to be working or studying when they'd actually lost their job or failed out. The risk of discovery being imminent seems to be a trigger for some family killers. Their lies and their debts are about to all come out, and so they kill before that can happen. Image means a lot to these guys. Their ego can't take the idea people might find out the reality of the lie.

If she was going to divorce him, a lot of his stories about himself would be exposed and the truth would be out there.

MOO

Correct, the secret service most likely didn’t randomly view his computer. It is my understanding, in the article from insidenova (posted up thread) that investigators collaborated with the secret service upon MB’s disappearance.

In the DC area, law enforcement (of all types) leverages various services like helicopters, computer forensics, etc. A small town police department doesn't have the need for these things often, which is why they borrow the helicopters when needed from larger counties like Fairfax County, and the forensic stuff from FBI, CIA, Secret Service. We have state police here as well that the local jurisdictions leverage.

Sami also said that during the investigation, an unnamed friend of Mamta’s told police that Mamta was a victim of domestic abuse and “suffered bruises in the months leading up” to her disappearance. Sami also said the friend described Mamta as “depressed.”

Sami provided new details in the timeline of Mamta Bhatt’s disappearance, naming the cleaning supplies that Naresh purchased on July 31 as carpet cleaner, Lysol disinfectant wipes and Little Trees air fresheners. ...

Sami also said Naresh told police during their Aug. 2 wellness check at the home that he and Mamta were in the process of separating. On Aug. 15, Naresh notified Manassas Park that he was making preparations to send their 1-year-old daughter, Neema, back to Nepal.

Here’s what we know about Naresh Bhatt.

Bhatt is a 37-year-old Indian-American....

Naresh Bhatt was an automated logistics specialist (92A) in the Army Reserve from June 2017 to February 2024. He had no deployments and Army Public Affairs said he left the Army with the rank of specialist.

Bhatt was hired as a police recruit and was dismissed from the department after 22 days at the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy.

He began his employment with the Department on June 22, 2020.

He was onboarded ahead of academy commencement. On Oct. 26, 2020, Bhatt transitioned to a police recruit but was unsuccessful in fulfilling the requirements of his role and was subsequently dismissed from the Department on Nov. 16, 2020, the Fairfax County Police Department tells FOX 5.

[...]

Bhatt has ties to the U.S. Secret Service and has security clearance according to his defense.

Prosecutors said Naresh made Google searches in April on his federal work laptop, including searching how long it takes to get married after your spouse dies.

I’ll never understand the thought process or actions by some.

This is what has been worrying me. If the baby is taken back to Nepal, is she guaranteed to be in the custody/raised by her mother's family; or, do their laws/customs give custody to the father's family.

Could the MIL and/or other members have influenced his making Mamta disappear so he could marry again? Or, so the MIL could have the baby?

Correct, (I’m local, born and raised!) you explained this perfectly. Thank you!

Husband of missing Manassas Park mom Mamta Khafle Bhatt denied bond | DC NEWS NOW
  • One of the crime scene investigators said they had been doing this job since 2011 and had “never seen this much blood” at a scene.
  • Prosecutors said the “entire shower floor glowed” [using Bluestar] in the couple’s master bathroom.
  • Fibers on the bedroom carpet appeared manipulated like someone had scrubbed it clean.
  • Investigators found a nearly-empty bottle of carpet cleaner purchased by Naresh back on July 31 nearby.
  • When they pulled up the carpet, there was evidence that blood had seeped under it, as if someone had been dragged into the bathroom.
  • Tucked away in a closet, blinds were found that appeared to be missing from a bathroom window. The blinds had small splatters that tested positive for blood.
  • “That amount of blood indicates to law enforcement, injuries that are not survivable,” prosecutors said.
  • On Aug. 1, Mamta’s phone pinged in Loudoun County near a body of water while Naresh’s phone was turned off or on airplane mode for two hours.
  • The body of water was also near the cafe Naresh told police he had visited.
“Mamta was a victim of domestic abuse, it is in the record. We have been trying to respect her privacy, and all of us have seen and heard and gotten texts of things that we did not want to share to respect her privacy,” said Wirth. “We know that going forward, we aren’t afraid to speak up and call him what he is [Naresh Bhatt]. He is an abuser.”

Coupled with the purchase of the knives, I’ve got to believe he dragged her in there to dismember her.

I love the defense strategy here. Ignoring the blood that showed up under Blue Star, and pointing to only the visible blood droplets.

Judge wasn’t fooled…
