I just keep thinking this guy had military experience, he may have had something already at home; meaning a weapon of some sort. If things got heated, <modsnip - not victim friendly> wouldn't he just use what was already at home?
He was seen on video at Walmart buying a knife set, see link upthread. <modsnip - response to snip in quoted post>

This man is a master manipulator. He took her documents (she called LE, then). He was known to hit her. He padded his resume and made himself more and more important. <modsnip - response to snipped post>

The knives seem to be, from my perspective, something that he used after the fact to get her out of the house in manageable, not obvious ways.

Uggh.

This is what my heart's intentions were. Very eloquently put. Thank you.

Thank you, I did see the same FB post and already started to question. But it was there.

His current FB says under Intro: "Information Technology at U.S. Federal Government" (Link: Naresh Bhatt)

And, again, his LinkedIn mentions right below his name "IT Specialist DoD NMCI".

I do think now it was a contractor position (with the government as a client, but paychecks etc coming from another company). Perhaps only for a short time frame. And the job itself perhaps a bit exaggerated, who knows.
I worked for a government contractor for a federal agency under a DoD contract. When people asked what company I worked for, I stated the name of the company and sometimes added "under contract with the Department of Defense." But that's me. He could have been a contractor or a government civilian (someone who works directly for the government but is not a Service member.) Or he's exaggerating. MOO

Hard to know the rationale of an individual like the suspect or others capable of such. And since it seems he was there for cleaning supplies IIRC maybe as @Inthedetails suggests, he purchased additional so that knives routinely in the house might not have been missed?

And to quote @lightofmine99 from IIRC the Veronica Butler / Jillian Kelley case, those murdering individuals were considered true ‘paragons of intellect’. Could say the same might apply here? MOO
He went to 2 different Walmarts on 2 different days for the knives and cleaning supplies. https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/24/us/mamta-kafle-bhatt-missing-virginia-mother-timeline/index.html

This is probably silly to discuss, but does anyone understand the logic behind what he did on Aug 1 - this is the day Mamta’s phone was in Loudoun County and at the same time, Naresh’s phone was turned off, but Naresh himself stated he was in Loudoun at a cafe? I’m sure there’s more details to it, but why would he take her phone to a place he would put himself at? And I think it’s safe to assume her phone was on him since he had it up until at least Aug 3.

This is the most I’ve read concerning the cafe.

Thursday, Aug. 1
  • Mamta Kafle Bhatt does not show up for work at the hospital and does not call. Her supervisor asks police to conduct a welfare check at her Manassas Park home.
  • Data from Mamta Kafle Bhatt’s cellphone shows it to be in an area of Loudoun County near a body of water at the same time Naresh Bhatt’s phone was not connected to the network for a period of two hours. Naresh Bhatt showed police a receipt from a cafe in Loudoun County he said he visited that day.
More Patrick Frazee vibes. Remember the lovely nurse Kristy Kenners/Lee cleaning after the murder and then going to a drive-through to eat?

Would people think it happens more after planned murders, or crimes of passion would culminate in the same behavior?

No evidence other than internet searches on when he can remarry once she is dead, lying about his wife”s location after she went missing, a large volume of her blood in his bedroom and bathroom, drag marks and purchases of now missing knives and cleaning supplies but who’s counting.

And the behavior. You’d think if the mother of your child is missing, you’d be sitting in the police day and night, demanding to search through. You know the time is valuable.

That is a good question. Maybe this is intended as some sort of misdirection. Mamta’s phone and his cafe receipt are “evidence” to prove he was in Loudoun when in reality he was somewhere else up to no good. His phone was turned off to hide his actual location.

The other (probably more likely) explanation is that he forgot to turn her phone off, realized his mistake and was forced to admit that he was in Loudoun. LE would be alerted to look at video and talk to possible witnesses in the area and would probably find something proving he was there anyway.

I don’t understand. Is this just normal current investigation vagueness?

P: “we know the phone was by a body of water”
R: “what body of water?”
P: “idk ”
It is. This one has actually been quite a bit more open than usual, especially in regards to him naming him a person of interest.

They wouldn’t want people going out to areas they intend to search, or are currently searching.

I think her body is still there. I just can’t see this guy going to great lengths to dispose of a body. IMO

Have they checked the septic tank ? Sorry to type that. :(

I'm also interested if he had any help from friends or close family members.

Thanks for the links and updates, @MassGuy .

Hoping for a recovery and resolution soon for Mamta's loved ones.
One of the saddest parts of this is that her baby, Neema, will not have memories of her mama.
If she can go to Mamta's family, (fingers crossed) they can keep Mamta's memory alive for her !
Omo.

Thread is moving fast - where can I read more about this? Thank you

MFB was being tortured! More from the quoted link/ post:

Parents are suspicious of foul play

Mamata’s parents and other kin are suspicious of foul play in the mysterious disappearance as they smelt a rat in Mamata’s mother-in-law’s treatment of their daughter.

“We started hearing that Mamata's mother-in-law, who had gone to the US to care for her, was not treating her well, and was sceptical about Mamata’s indifference to their demand of Chhaupadi, the tradition of keeping a person in different shed during menstrual period,” Kamal said. “Whenever we asked Mamata how she was doing, she always said she was fine. She never told us about the pain she was going through, though we did hear bits and pieces from outside. We thought it was just minor quarrels that would be resolved.”
[..]

Mamata’s family claims that recently, her husband, Naresh, and his mother had not been treating her well. “During her menstruation, they did not treat her well under the guise of tradition,” said Mamata's aunt, Maiya Kafle.

Maiya complained that ironically the woman who had gone to take care of the puerpera tortured her.

“Her mother-in-law had gone to care for her, but instead, she made Mamata work on an empty stomach and did not provide proper food or care. This has only deepened our suspicions,” she said. “We believe that their relationship started to deteriorate after her mother-in-law went to the US. Even after that, there were issues, which we were suspicious of.”

It would be very easy for them to find where he sold the Tesla and check it for evidence. I have to believe they did that and that's why they are focusing on the home. If they knew he drove the body somewhere, they wouldn't be back there digging in the yard (in my opinion as a non-LE person).
