The Police Department is requesting anyone who had contact with or spoke to Naresh Bhatt between July 28th, 2024 – August 5th, 2024, to please contact the Manassas Park Police Department, 703-361-1136. He [Chief Lugo] told WUSA9 that nothing was found during Wednesday's search, but said they have found things during other searches.

"We've found evidence that we believe is connected to the case," said Lugo.

  • LE conducted a search today not too far from Mamta's home.
  • (This after a person came in and reported a tip anonymously.)
  • "We are looking into what he provided us, and to see if it's connected to the case or not."

With assistance from Prince William County’s forensic division, the Manassas Park Police Department said they executed a search warrant at the couple’s home on Heather Court after detectives reportedly received several new leads in recent days.

As police investigate what led to Mamta Kafle Bhatt’s disappearance and where she may be, counselors for domestic violence survivors want the community to know help is available.

Lots of info on the Tesla!

... the fact Bhatt sold his car could work to detectives' advantage.

"In this case, let's say hypothetically he did have Sentry Mode on and did something that's potentially incriminating, if he sold the car, this is a tricky thing, the data doesn't necessarily get erased. That's a thing to keep in mind with any modern car, and especially as ones as data-heavy as a Tesla. If you sell your car, you want to be sure to wipe everything, otherwise it could just be full of all kinds of data of your own. It could be addresses stored in your address book or your GPS data, or list of locations you've been to. If they bought this car from the man, then they potentially have access to all that data and, legally, I think they may be just fine to do whatever they want with it. It's a pretty grey area. If the owner did not take the time to wipe that car before they sold it, I don't know what kind of recourse they may have," Torchinsky said.

...Naresh Bhatt is due back in court. Records indicate the court appearance is for a Brady hearing.

The Brady Rule is a legal motion that forces prosecutors to to hand over all evidence they have in a case to the defense. Naresh Bhatt's defense team filed the motion, and a judge will decide whether to grant the motion on Friday.

IIRC NB has so far only been charged with abuse or concealment of a corpse (or the like), correct? IANAL but presume therefore, only information related to that charge would be in scope here? MOO
