One thing that makes me think it wasn't him is because he is a real little guy. I think his Facebook profile listed himself as 120 pounds and from his pictures he doesn't look muscular.

I don't think his size would matter much if he had a weapon and/or a way to put her 'out' like (dare I say that over-used word?) chloroform.

I'd appreciate knowing if someone at WS has a connection with LE and can forward Part-Time Prof's excellent post about NK's movements. I understand that his FB posts were forwarded, but I think this new way of him posting his every move, and P-T P's break-down of what it all means takes my concern about NK to a whole new level!

Yeah I know. I was just going by what he wrote. In his scenario the perp (him?) and Morgan are sitting in a car. The perp attacks her and at some point climbs on top of her. Eventually he punches her into unconsciousness.

I still find it odd that none of the friends has given any sort of reasonable reason why Morgan was outside of the arena...well at least I hope they are talking to LE

The "blog" sports fan guy does seem odd....obsessive compulsive maybe??
I hope they have checked him out very well...sometimes the "perp" likes to "inject" themselves into an investigation....this guy does seem weird
reminds me a little of the odd guy who killed freshman Taylor Behl in Richmond...
it would be good to check out the "odd guy"

however, I respectfully disagree that the BB players would "have too much to lose"...just look at the various felons in the NFL, NBA, etc...and the number of college athletes who throw it all away by assaulting women, abusing their girlfriend or getting involved with lowlifes...of course a small % but very real

I don't think they can rule out anything

but of course...if it is a case of stranger abduction, being forced into a car with no witness there is really no trail, no clues..and this might be one of those sad and strange "dead end" cases
I hope that it is not, but more and more it feels that way

i dont think this guy is anything but weird. i think hed be more one to do something to little boys.
in one of his profiles it list his type as asian, chinese, black
i also found a post on a blog sometime in 2008 telling people about how he visits nonamers at highschools and writes up the player and trip details.

In regards to the basketball players I feel that I have to speak my mind. And please know - that I am most definately biased in regard to this. I am the mother of a basketball player and have been a fan of college basketball for many many years.

A few years ago I helped a local Senior send tapes and apply to colleges. He got a full scholarship to play ball with a Division II school - a great opportunity for him. When he was a Junior in college he came home for a few weeks during the summer and was walking to a local grocery store. He was stopped by a couple of young girls who asked him to buy them alcohol. He talked to them, but refused to buy them anything. They first offered him sexual favors for the beer and then when he still refused - they called him nasty names. The next morning his mother woke him up to tell him that LE was there to arrest him. He was charged with statutory rape and crimes against nature. He was incarcerated and not able to go back to school his Senior year. He lost his scholarship and the entire town thought of him as a rapist. The trial lasted only a few days and he was found completely innocent. One of the girls even admitted on the stand that they had made up the story. BUT - this did not change the fact that he lost his scholarship and most importantly his reputation. No one in the town looks at him (or his family) in the same way...and I don't think they ever will.

Please, please, please think of this story as we discuss these young players. They have their entires lives/careers ahead of them. If they are guilty of anything at all - then I pray that they will face the charges and be convicted, but if they are innocent - I don't want them to suffer forever because of a chance meeting in a dark parking lot.

I understand what you are saying and ITA. But I don't think our mere speculation can hurt these boys in any way. There has to be proof that they did anything before any of them can be harmed/ charged and "if" they had anything to do with it then they will be punished the way LE and the courts see fit, so I don't think you have anything to worry about when it comes to being wrongfully accused, there must be facts before your name/ character can be ruined.
I think we and LE should at least give everyone that Morgan came into contact with some thought. At this point we have nothing else to go on except speculation. I too understand that these boys have a lot going for them, but so did Morgan. Not to mention, the people you "should" least expect could very well be our criminal. Basketball player or not, we all have our secrets. Just a thought! Please don't take this the wrong way.

Just adding my :twocents:. I remember reading that Morgan did not have any tattoos, as she felt they make girls look 'cheap'. Sorry though, in trying to keep up with breaking news I'm reading lots of sites, so have not a clue where I read it. May or may not be true as it was not LE releasing that info.

When they described Morgan they said she had a birthmark on her upper right arm. Nothing about tatoos and I see none in any of the pictures.

Concering the basketball players. A lot of college basketball players are recruited from the very toughest areas of our country. If you go to the UVA roster they have the players and where they hail from. Some of those homies are very tough and drug and gang infested areas. They grow up tough and streetwise.
I wonder about some of the players from areas you might recognize. Do you recognize areas you are familiar with? http://www.virginiasports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17800&SPID=10616&SPSID=88842

These men were not raised like Morgan Harrington.

I don't care for this kind of statement and it reminds me of this attitude I see here where people will go to extremes trying to explain some convoluted way MH could have become "impaired" instead of the really obvious one, she chose to get wasted at a concert. If the only way you can feel sympathy for her predicament is to believe somebody else drugged her or she's suffering from a head injury alot of words and brain power will be wasted here coming up with needlessly complicated explanations.

According to WLSL TV in Roanoke, VA the body found under the Wasena Bridge is a suicide.

Here is the info from the web site;

Roanoke police say the body of a woman was found under the Wasena Bridge near the railroad tracks Tuesday morning.

According to a police spokesperson, it appears the cause of death is suicide.

Roanoke police say they will be sending out a news release shortly.

Oh no, this is not looking good for Morgan, is it? Her parents and brother must be in a terrible state at the moment. My heart goes out to them. Let's hope for their sake it is not her, but whoever they are, they will leave 2 families devastated.

Re: NK. I've done some fairly extensive looking into him. Here's what I think may be pertinent:

First of all, I believe he has changed residences since MH's disappearance. I looked him up when this first broke and recall he was listed living quite near JPJ. Now he's a ways away.

He starts the detailed time reporting of his activities only one or two reports prior to the 10/17 one, but this is not the first.

A few things about his reports:

On the October 17th trip, he reported 3 hours exactly as travel time from Charlottesville to Alexandria on 10/17, to cover 171 miles. That’s almost 60 mph with no stops, faster if he stopped. On the way back to Richmond, 102 miles in 2:08, arriving at 6:08. That's a reasonable 50 or so MPH.

If he then drove back to Charlottesville (70 miles), he would have been in the vicinity before MH disappeared.

On 10/22, according to his figures, he averaged 65 MPH to Newport News and 55 MPH on the return. On 10/29, according to his figures, he averaged 57 MPH overall to Chesterfield, south of Richmond, 65 MPH on I-64 and 44 MPH after turning off I-64 (stay with me here).

What jumped out at me are some possible inaccuracies he had in his November 6th entry, his last.

NK says it’s a 72 mile drive, but it's actually 98.2 miles from Kane Furniture to Lake Braddock High School in Burke, Virginia (108 circling through Reva). Suggested to have taken 2:49 (this makes the suggestion work out to 35 MPH), actually reported by NK at 3:16, but he reports at least 3 stops (7-11, Reva, Sheetz). Covering 98.2 miles in 3:16 is a 30 MPH average, and to cover his reported distance of 72 miles in 3:16 would work out to only 22 MPH!

Kane Furniture to Reva is 41.1 miles, estimated at 1:14, or 33 MPH. He says it took him from 1:48 p.m. to 3:06 p.m. including the stop at the Reva, Virginia gas station/post office convenience station. That’s 1:18, so about a four minute stop fits that.

Here’s where it gets interesting…he says 11 minutes later, at 3:17 p.m. he passed Eastern View High School, a new school just off 29-N at State Route 666. But that’s 13.2 miles, which he says he did in 11 minutes??? That would be 72 MPH.

He passed George Washington University at 4:34, one hour and 17 minutes after Eastern View High School. Another 53.2 miles in 1:17 (estimated at 1:19), 41 MPH.

Another 4.4 miles to Hunan West in Springfield, covered in 20 minutes…driving around deciding on dinner place? 1.2 miles to Lake Braddock high school.

The high school is 67.2 miles past Reva, estimated at 1:46. He says he covered all but about 4 miles of it from 3:06 to 4:34, 88 minutes. 63.2 miles in 88 minutes is a reasonable 43.2 MPH. But if we assume that 13.2 of those miles were covered in 11 minutes, that would leave 54 miles in 1:35...34 MPH.

I have driven 29-N and 66-E a lot before, and nobody averages in the 30's unless they are stopping to shop for antiques, eat, whatever...29 is 55 or 60, four lane highway from the outskirts of Charlottesville for 90 minutes where you pick up 66 (with some traffic lights on 29, but very few traffic snarls).

So, either he was driving really slowly that day, he was stopping a lot, or he didn't actually make that trip and made up a time line that fit what Google maps said it would take, give or take a few minutes, without considering that to do so would be driving much slower than the speed limit.

Thoughts? Sorry for the long post...

Thanks for the post actually!! I got to the link and didn't even WANT to read it all. This is just too weird. Why post everything you do all day? I know that's the new thing with twitter, but da** you don't need to tell us everything. The next thing he will be doing is detailing his bowel movements! Anyway, I find all of this odd.

I cannot access facebook from work.

TIA!!

Police: Body found in Roanoke as missing Va. Tech student case continues
Published: November 17, 2009
<snipped>
Update: State police now say they don’t believe it’s the body of Harrington, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

As the case of a missing Virginia Tech student entered into its second month, authorities today are investigating the discovery of a body in Roanoke.

Authorities said a body discovered near Norfolk Southern railroad tracks shortly after daybreak in Roanoke appeared to be that of a female.

Roanoke police detectives and a medical examiner were called to the scene.

Virginia State Police, the lead agency investigating the disappearance of Morgan Dana Harrington, was aware of this morning’s discovery and was looking into the matter, agency spokeswoman Corinne Geller said. Geller said she had no other details.

I am glad he was reported.
It seems he starts detailing his blogs of his whereabouts prior to 10/17, which is very interesting.
I have a question about that, can he change the dates on blogs to whatever dates he wants? Or does it automatically come up with the exact date it's posted with the inability to alter the date?

Though I don't have an answer to your question about changing dates on blogs, a few more strange things about NK have popped up for me.

On his HS football report for 10/17 (the day of MH's disappearance), he references Mapquest and the location of the IHOP from the high school being just 3 miles. Well, actually, it's 4.96, which given his seeming attention to detail...

Second, if we assume that he uses Mapquest for these trips, by far the shortest route (mileage especially, but also time) for him to take would have cut 50 miles and an estimated :26 off his trip and routed him through Gordonsville and Orange. Instead he drove 64 to 95. Maybe he likes interstates, especially if driving from 3:17-6:17 in the morning. But he went way out of his way to do so, and it's interesting that he references Mapquest but is wrong on one fact and didn't follow its advice...

Third, he mentions that he arrived in Alexandria at 6:17, but then says that he got to the IHOP at 7:38 to meet a woman at 8:00. No mention of what he did in that 1:21, given that he likes to list mundane details?

His October 22nd report is pretty normal, except that the picture he took of 13100 Warwick Blvd (the address of a Reformation Lutheran Church) is 2.9 miles from Todd Stadium, in the wrong direction from Mapquest's suggested exit. The only way he would have passed it is if he took an exit 5 miles closer than the one Mapquest suggests, or if he made a wrong turn onto Warwick. Interestingly, if you click "avoid" on the exit he should have taken, Mapquest suggests an exit 3 miles past (or 8 miles after he apparently exited).

Finally, in his November 6th report, the one where I pointed out the initial inconsistencies in driving speeds (70+ on one stretch, 35 on the rest), Mapquest's suggested route is again through Gordonsville and Orange; he says he took 29-N instead. He says he got from his house to the I-66E turnoff in 3:00 (1:18-4:18 p.m.). Again, I've driven that too many times to count, and it's 90 minutes with no stops to where 29-N connects to 66-W, and shortly thereafter 66-E. Why no detail on the "missing" 90 minutes?

I researched some on what is exactly 72 miles up 29-N. From his house, 72 miles would be just before Business 29 splits from 29-N at Warrenton, fwiw.

He says he took 95. He left Charlottesville, Virginia at 3:17 A.M. on Saturday morning. By 3:45 A.M. He was in Zion's X-Roads, Virginia on the way east towards Richmond, Virginia. At 4:26 A.M. He was listening to radio station "FM 105.5," and "The Cars" were singing the lyrics: "I guess you're just what I needed!" At 4:39 He entered Route 95-North.

Unless am I missing something.
