Hooray for Senator Kerry for calling for Vick's suspension--The disgust over this case is growing every day--Just Now on Nancy Grace, its been reported that the NFL Commissioner will decide next week whether to suspend Vick indefinitely or not

Indeed. I had ESPN on tonight and they reported the NFL has suggested Vick take a Leave of Absence. Still they are not DEMANDING it. But, one must wonder, if he doesn't take that step himself, will the NFL have the balls, (pun intended), to take it for him, real quick. They are going to have a scene courtesy of PETA at Falcon training camp on Monday. Do we really think the NFL wants protests at every stadium throughout the Pre-Season. My Steelers are playing the Hall of Fame Game here soon.

Actually, learning more about the player's union, football fans ought to figure out who their teams representatives are and be emailing them to be a VOICE of reason for their fans too. Heck, email your favorite team's owner, they got a direct line to the commissioner. There's a lot at stake here for these people too.

I think you misunderstood me - I was poking fun at how strict the NFL is with Ricky for smoking pot, yet they don't consistently take strong stands against others who get into MUCH more serious trouble.
Did you see the last part...You just reminded me of Williams is all. I know what you were saying.:D

As disgusting as it is to see these videos on Nancy's program, I'm really glad she's giving this case the media coverage the dogs deserve. I can't believe Vick didn't know what was going on and he should be suspended from the NFL. I am also very happy that the Senators are taking this issue to the Floor today! Bravo to Sens. Byrd and Kerry for their defense of helpless animals!!

Remember when this case first came to light? It was a few weeks ago when this initially hit the media and was only a blurb. Vick stated the house was under his name, but a relative (I think he said his uncle) was living there. As I recall, he said he had no knowledge of anything illegal taking place and had not been there at all or for a long time. Does anyone remember this? I am trying to find the article or story on it, but haven't yet.

This will go against him bigtime if they can prove he did know and was on the property. (Sounds like they have gone back and found their proof!)

I don't remember the initial articles, but I recall his position is that his cousin (possibly uncle) was living at this particular house. I do think that the Feds must have found some good evidence against Vick for the indictment to be brought against him in particular. If Vick is so innocent why isn't he saying anything to try to save himself?

If he's on someone's cell phone video or other video of these fights, pics of dogfights that have been sent - it's a slam dunk case.

I agree, video would definitely seal his fate. I wonder how much new information will be released after his court appearance on the 26th?

Exactly! Why no major press release from the Vick yet defending himself? If I were innocent and going to lose a contract worth millions...I would be screaming it from coast to coast and giving up my relatives right n left since I supported their lazy @zzes then they end up possibly getting me kicked out of the NFL!!!

Benoit and Vick are two examples of probably more than a hundred athletes in Atlanta. I know you are exaggerating but I feel bad that people never recognize the good things that many athletes do. That said, I am curious to see how both the Falcons and NFL respond. The NFL is not known for being all that tough in terms of punishments. Unless you are Ricky Williams of course, when his offense is probably the the least harmful. ;)

Yeah, I realize most athletes are not like those two, but it just seemed weird that two of the most high profile cases in recent memory happened within a month or so of each other and both in Atlanta. The media there are getting overworked by now, I'm sure!

And yeah, it makes Ricky not look so bad now, but he did it to himself repeatedly. I feel bad for him that it got to this point to begin with, especially with all the talent and money he had. Putting a guy with social anxiety disorders in a spotlight like the NFL is just asking for something to go wrong. Fortunately, he hasn't hurt anyone else, yet. I think those with any kind of mental illness will only have it exacerbated by the intense spotlight of pro sports and the stress that comes with the job. If Vick and his buddies are guilty of this, then they should qualify as sociopaths at the very least. Like someone else said, that's how serial killers get started.

That's absolutely true. He stated that he had no idea what was going on and that his cousin was living at the house. That's a bunch of malarky!

Someone grab a fork because Vick is DONE! From what I've heard, they Feds have EYEWITNESSES that will testify that they've seen Vick at the fights dropping upwards of $40k on one match. He was also the one that would give the orders on the inhumane executions of his dogs. He's a sick piece of crap and I hope he goes down hard! The NFL really needs to stand up and make a stance. With the increasing attention this is drawing, pretty soon they won't have a choice unless they want PETA and other societies for animals at every single stadium where the Falcons play.

I posted my first bulletin on MySpace - :woohoo: - here's what I wrote:

NFL Star, Quarterback for the Atlanta Falcon’s, Michael Vick, has been indicted on animal cruelty charges. The story, if you haven’t heard of it, is horrific – dogs were made to fight for human greed and sadistic pleasure, and many dogs were killed by electrocution, hanging, drowning, and more!!

You can make a difference. If you’ve ever had a pet, or wanted a pet, please take the time to let your voice be heard, because these poor animals can’t speak for themselves.

I found this on wikipedia:

Trouble in Virginia

Beginning on April 25, 2007, widespread media publicity was drawn by discovery of evidence of unlawful dog fighting activities at Vick's estate in a rural county in southeastern Virginia following the arrest on several narcotics charges of his cousin, Davin T. Boddie, 26, who lived there.
In late April, Vick told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution "I'm never at the house...I left the house with my family...They just haven't been doing the right thing... It's unfortunate I have to take the heat behind it. If I'm not there, I don't know whats going on"[20]

If you haven't yet sent in your response in regard to Michael Vick, per the above post, I encourage you to do so now.

It will require sustained pressure on the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons, and Nike, by all of us, to have an effect, so let's all avail ourselves of this opportunity to make a difference, in this, our United States. Thanks.

Subject: Suspend Michael Vick

Michael Vick is an ugly blemish on the great State Of Georgia, as well as our United States.

SUSPEND HIM NOW!!

This whole thing makes me sick...on top of wanting him to get kicked out the NFL, do prison time, and pay a HEFTY fine, I wish the court would order him to donate LOTS of money to pit rescue, and upon his release work with organizations that save the abused dogs. JMO

Today one of my neighbors wore a tshirt that had a picture of a pit and this heading--my dog hates Vick. I find that fitting. Vick needs to held accountable for what he's done. Local residents are saying he was into dog fights long before he entere the 'big time.'
Locals are also saying he had that house built in that particular area specifically for his organized dog fighting crappola.

I want one of those shirts:clap:

I am as disgusted as the rest of you, but I couldn't understand the RAPE charges, on behalf of the *advertiser censored* in heat, in the initial reporting. As if they didnt have enough to go on, without using the rape word. I was curious, because I thought that many breeders use artificial insemination, with or without the consent of the female animal, or horse breeders might restrain the female, to prevent injury...

Anyway, for anyone else that is curious, this is what I found:

This is where the rape stand, also called a breeding stand, comes in. It consists of two steel poles mounted to the ends of a platform that's often made of wood. U-shaped pieces of curved metal sit atop each pole; one goes around the belly of a female pit bull and the other around her neck. The stand isn't illegal, but dog breeders don't normally use it; after all, female dogs in heat aren't so particular. And most people wouldn't want to breed poorly socialized dogs that must be strapped down to mate. But breeders of attack dogs place special value on females that are so mean they might bite any male dogs that get too close. People find these stands online or through an underground dogfighting magazine, or they make their own.http://www.slate.com/id/2170734/

I also found these. Please delete if they've already been posted.

Here's what the breeding stand looks like. They're making too big an issue out of this gadget. The crime is in the dog fighting, not in the breeding.
