Remember that the Manson Family of cold blooded killers included Leslie Van Houghten, who willingly and gleefully joined in stabbing Rosemary LaBianca many times. She showed no sympathy or remorse and laughed about it during her trial.
Initially sentenced to death, it was later commuted to Life in Prison where she has been since 1969. She has come up for parole several time in the past years and each time it was denied. This year she was recommended for parole by the Parole Board but California Governor Gavin Newsome refused to release her. A court has ruled to overturn the Governor's denial of parole, andnow an appeal may take it to a higher court.
It has been 55 years since the Tate-Labianca murders took place on Aug. 9 and 10 in 1969 at the hands of Charles Manson and his followers. Over the span of two days, seven people were brutally killed at two different homes in the Los Angeles area.
Manson, who had been in and out of jail during his early years for petty crimes, reinvented himself in the ‘60s as the leader of a group of young followers. He often targeted teenage girls who ran away from home or were otherwise on their own to join his group which became known as the “Manson Family.”
