My son's in a private school, and they shut down and went to online classes almost two weeks before FCPS did. It's a small school so much easier, but they have pretty much their normal class schedule. He's also dual enrolled at Northern Virginia Community College and they went to online about the same time.

This is frightening... He's not been honest and now we are up a creek. He needs to close, all. On esse tual business and try to shorten the curve.

Governor Northam: ‘Virginia is bascially on its own’ in COVID-19 fight

Governor Ralph Northam said “Virginia is basically on its own” right now in the coronavirus battle. But people here in the state are stepping up to help.

Governor Northam: ‘Virginia is bascially on its own’ in COVID-19 fight

Governor Ralph Northam said “Virginia is basically on its own” right now in the coronavirus battle. But people here in the state are stepping up to help.

Northam is talking about setting up a field hospital in Richmond. Hmmmm.....I've suspected that the numbers are way too low for the population and what I hear about (younger) people continuing to congregate, go to the river, party, etc. Testing, like everywhere else, is inadequate, so we are not getting the real numbers.

I am a psychotherapist. My office bldg was shut down 3 weeks ago and thoroughly disinfected by a professional cleaning company. Since then my office is my safe space. I use the stairs (avoid elevator), use a disinfectant wipe to open doors, slip into my office (which no one else enters), and conduct phone and video sessions. Very few people are in the building; I see/hear no one on my floor. I was shocked today to hear that someone I see in couples counseling is still going to their individual therapist's office for in-person sessions. Why? I don't get it.

Northam is a doctor. He should have been way ahead of the curve on this. Again, I don't get it.

@Richmond he failed us!! I knew from his demeanor at the first presser, we were in trouble.

I have no confidence in his staff. They appear spaced out and don't know what the numbers are for equipment/supplies or they are not telling.

Northam is weak, our only hope is to plea with Senator Warner and Kaine.

He has still not full closed business, leaving retail open is going to cost us my lives in May. This greatly impact the prediction for forecasting. Both DC and MD closed all non essential businesses. Heck, he even left the goft courses open.

Most states are seeing a 30 to 45 day window for the virus. Virginia shows April to MID July. We can not sustain this kind of outbreak with a weak governor and no supplies.

He could rally the media and the whole country had eyes on VA, over the gun laws. Now is he's behaving like a weak, do nothing governor.

I'm scared, really scared for us. Moo

Secret Service signs $45,000 “emergency order” for golf carts: report

The golf carts were rented in Northern Virginia to protect a "dignitary" in the town of Sterling, which is where Trump National Golf Club Washington DC is located.

Hampton Roads golf courses remain open after approval from governor

Despite the new statewide stay-at-home order due to the coronavirus pandemic, local golf courses are still open for business.

Gov. Ralph Northam’s executive order allows Virginians to venture out for food, medical care, essential work and exercise, including golf.

WTH? Why??

WTH? Why??

I agree, and why are golf courses in Virginia considered "essential". It's already been proven that between touching the balls, clubs and flags will spread the virus. Sitting close in golf carts, touching surfaces, are also deadly.

Other states have shut down golf courses during this pandemic.

Refusing to close all non essential businesses negatively impacted Virginia's forecast from Washington University. We show a greater death rate than sister states with larger populations.

We can expect to have 4 full months of battling Covid19 with no dang PPE.

He needs to close all non essential businesses!! His buddies in DC and MD did. For goodness sake he's a DOCTOR!!! I and many other Virginia's are devastated at the response from the entire cabinet. I am impressed with the Director of Health but he seemed to be muzzled. When he did give out the ventilator numbers, Northam immediately ended the presser and NO more numbers for anything since.

Been in Virginia all my life, active in local and state government.....ain't never seen nothin like it.....

Moo.....

Well in my 25 years of nursing I never thought i’d see the day my job was at risk. Especially during a pandemic, but it just got real on Friday. We have all been mandated to take 1 week leave between today and June 13th. There is an incentive to resign by April 30th in place. And in 10 weeks there will be a reassessment with lay-offs being the next step to a resolution of a financial crisis. So now not only do I have to worry about our empty beds taking COVID overflow in the next couple of weeks I have to worry about job security in the next 10 weeks. And continue to pray we all stay healthy.

I am so sorry. I am also alarmed the system you work for is in a financial crisis. It also seems so odd to be announcing possible layoffs in the face of an oncoming pandemic. I hope everything works out for you.

Hello from Hampton Roads, Chesapeake specifically. My son called this morning (he lives in Virginia Beach) and made me promise I would go nowhere for the next two weeks, he even said, "mom...I don't care if you want to go drive to McDonald's and get a coffee, please don't" so when my elderly neighbor called this morning for me to get her some strawberries from a farm stand I go to weekly, Im going to have to say no...
I have plenty to tide me over and I get a farm-to-table delivery every Friday from a local farm, then there is Oberweiss Dairy that delivers on Friday and then there is always Schwans.
Things I wish I had done differently: its only me here and the dog...but I would have filled my tiny frig freezer with meat (I do chicken, turkey and pork, no beef) instead of all the frozen veggies I have in there.
I would have possibly bought a small compact freezer before this all happened. (impossible to get now)
I should have had my grass guy mow last week when he was mowing the neighbors yard ...now its gone wild out there.
I would have bought way more flour and yeast!

I’m in Chesapeake as well, deep creek. Please PM me if you need anything I could drop off on your door step.

Our local TV stations at trying to reach VDH after they updated the number. Yesterday, we had 52 deaths total and today 51. Did they miscount, could it be "61". Radio silence from VHD.

I loose confidence daily....
I as well am loosing confidence. Where are the numbers of people dying from the Flu? Are they listing all deaths as COVID-19? <modsnip> MOO
