I have been away for a few days but I just caught the two recent bursts of information from police and all I can say is they seem to be desperately grasping at straws to maintain some dignity. While at the same time removing Cheryl's dignity and unnecessarily tormenting those close to her.
I am not sure what happened to Cheryl.
The only thing I am sure of is that the police have badly managed the drip-feed of information to the press and the public. If I was a family member or friend I would be so distressed the maddeningly little tidbits that are being released in order to support their "flavor of the week" hypothesis. I have never seen a case like this and I have been hanging around here for years. The fact that the police have chosen not to report the tox results that have been made available to the family (a fact that doesn't gel with their suicide scenario) and yet they make a late night reveal of branded bags and razor blades...this is just crazy. Please somebody there at MLT give us a comprehensive report or no report at all rather than this. It smacks choosing facts to suit theory and not in the interest of truth or discovery of truth.

OMGOSH! How important was it to mention the bag was from one of her favorite restaurants (or whatever the wording)? Do they realize how many people frequent these fast food restaurants? The homeless guy that pushes four carts tied together in Lynnwood has four baskets full of different fast food bags!!! Does this mean we are all suppose to support the idea she killed herself now??? IMO

This whole thing is turning into a PR nightmare for MTLK LE. And the info mentioned that tips are directed to a voicemail really does them no favors either.....

ITA! What a fiasco!

I don't understand why she would cut her fingers in the first place. She is a smart woman, she would know the cuts wouldn't kill her.

This single sentence has caused me to question my conviction that she was murdered just a little bit. Why would she have a razor blade in her pocket? I can only think of a few reasons and Is this blade the reason that LE thinks her finger cuts were self inflicted? I wonder if there was any DNA evidence on the blade? It might have been washed away by the water but maybe not.

I just can't comprehend why there would be animal blood inside the car. Why would it only be on the floorboard? If an animal was injured and bleeding, I don't think it would hold still while losing blood in the confines of an automobile. Seems like it would be moving around.

Far fetched, but what if someone opened the door and an animal jumped in and attacked. Cheryl cut the animal in defense, and accidentally cut her fingers at the same time.

But why would she have the razor blade on her in the first place?

somebody dropped it on her to cause confusion and same goes for animal blood, this is just too weird to be normal evidence, someone is playing a game

Five weeks after DeBoer’s body was discovered, there have still been no eyewitness reports from anyone who may have seen or heard anything near where DeBoer’s car was located in the parking lot at 23400 block of 58th Avenue West, which is typically busy on a Monday morning.

DeBoer’s car was found locked and secure, with nothing around the car or in the car to indicate foul play, Wilson said.

Blood was found on the passenger side of the car. A small amount of the blood on the center console, seat and door is DeBoer’s blood. Two small cuts were found on two of DeBoer’s fingers, which the medical examiner determined appear to be self-inflicted.

However, a larger amount of blood on the floorboard of the car is animal. What type of animal blood and how it got there is yet to be determined.

DeBoer’s body was found lying face down in a culvert near the intersection of Cedar Way and 244th Street Southwest with a bag loosely secured over her head. It was a take-out bag from a fast food restaurant she frequented, Wilson said.

Her clothing was on and was intact and orderly. It was not disheveled or torn. There was no sign that she had been tied up, handcuffed or contained in any way.

The culvert she was found in is large, Wilson said. Investigators who are 6 feet tall or taller were able to walk and stand inside. A creek runs through the culvert. It is about 2 to 3 feet deep.

“There is no physical evidence that she was forced into the culvert. You would expect to find disheveled clothing or scrapes, but there was nothing like that,” Wilson said.

A razor blade was found in DeBoer’s pocket.

“What we know is the physical evidence, or lack thereof, discovered at either scene does not support that there was evidence of a robbery, assault, abduction or homicide,” Wilson said, referring both to where DeBoer’s car was found at a Mountlake Terrace Park and Ride overflow lot on Feb. 8 and where her body was discovered at Cedar Way and 244th Street Southwest on Feb. 14.

It just gets curiouser and curiouser..............

I hate to be the one to ask this, but is the kitten that Cheryl got still at her home, alive and well?

I haven't been able to sleep and the animal blood is driving me crazy. I'd think if it was cat or dog that investigators would know immediately. If Cheryl's new kitten is missing, and of course this is entirely speculation on my part, the only thing I can think of is that maybe she accidentally stepped on it, took it with her to get it help, it died, and that tripped a fuse in her. I realize what a long stretch that is with not knowing where the kitten is.

How does a razor blade used to put a cut on each hand come into play? (Assuming that's what was used to cause the cuts.)

If there was a cut on a finger of each of her hands but no blood on the steering wheel, that would suggest to me that she was sitting in the passenger side, where I'm imagining the animal blood was found on the floorboards. This makes sense to me in that her passenger side would have been facing the sidewalk to the right of her car and she would have had a tiny bit of privacy. Whatever happened though, happened and was over within an hour when the commuter noticed her car parked there at 8am.

Even if it wasn't her animal, maybe she hit one. Maybe she felt so bad that she wanted to bury it so she carried it to the culvert in that take-out bag, and once there .....? I really don't know how she would have suffocated with a takeout bag no matter how hard she willed herself to do it. And since there was only a small amount of water in her lungs I'm assuming she passed out from the bag before falling into the water, which led to her actual death.

Wait - was the bag taped closed around her? That maybe be what she used the razor blade for; to cut the tape? I can never tear electrical tape, but I've HAD electrical tape in older cars. I've always had to use a pocketknife to cut it...unlike with duct tape or scotch tape.

Members of DeBoer’s family have been speaking out online about the investigation.

On the MLTnews Facebook page Monday night, Mike DeBoer, Cheryl’s husband, commented, “This women was my wife and she would never had done this to herself the police are still working on the case and there are thing the public doesn’t know. And the public should be worried.”

Lenore Peterson, Cheryl DeBoer’s mother, commented, “As confusing as the news reports are, our family is unwilling to discontinue the investigation surrounding Cheryl’s death. It is inconceivable that Cheryl would take meat out of the freezer for dinner, text the driver of her carpool that she would be at the park and ride in 10 minutes, park her car, walk 1 1/2 miles, crawl through brambles and mud, put a plastic bag over her head and lie face down in a cold shallow creek to end her life.”

Comments from her husband and mother.

I'll bet the news media would love to talk to Stryker57, but he belongs to us.

A small amount of the blood on the center console, seat and door is DeBoer’s blood.

A larger amount of blood on the floorboard of the car is animal. What type of animal blood and how it got there is yet to be determined.

Two small cuts were found on two of DeBoer’s fingers, which the medical examiner determined appear to be self-inflicted. According to Stryker, these cuts were on opposite hands, one finger each hand had a cut.

A razor blade was found in DeBoer’s pocket.

To me, the most confusing aspects about this case are shown above. Of course, a lot of this is information that's just come to light in the last day or two. There almost has to be some sort of correlation between her blood and the animal blood being found in the car. Something happened that day, that morning, that led to her demise.

If this was fresh blood, or relatively fresh blood.......where's the animal ?

According to investigators, Cheryl had cuts on her fingertips and bled in the car. Yet it's believed her car never moved that day after it was parked. So is the theory that she magically walked 1 1/2 miles down a busy street with blood covered hands, and yet no one saw her do it ? Not a single person ? What did she do with the animal ?

Did she possibly run over or back over an animal that morning, stop and put it into her car, and then notify it's owner who went ballistic with rage ? Is Cheryl's blood and the animals blood in another car as well ? It is a well known fact that injured animals will often times lash out at a rescuer that is trying to help it, due to shock and pain. This would go a long way in explaining how she was injured. If there was an altercation between Cheryl and the pets owner, wouldn't someone have seen it taking place ?

The razor blade ? You've got me on that one.................

If someone is able to tie all of this together, a much better picture of what happened will start to form. Somehow, this is all interconnected.

Jmo but again, I think LE is doing everything they can, but they can't find evidence of a perp, or of a crime, if none exists. Maybe I have been on WS too long but there have been suicides in recent years that seemed so unlikely, many could not believe it. Three I can think of, but I only remember first names, Leann, and two Jennifers. LE sounds to be looking at every possible angle to me. I do not believe a murder was committed but that is my opinion only, in part because a person almost always leaves some clues, in part the lack of defense wounds or signs of struggle. Also, the putting off of the co-worker. It seems too coincidental that she texted/called (?) about not having her badge. LE does not consider (imo) calling a death a suicide the easy way out. They often receive much more criticism and disbelief than if they say any other manner of death. As is happening here. And they are still investigating. So how are they taking the easy way out, as many seem to imply?

The Leanne Bearden case shocked me the most and I found this forum because of it. But it later was revealed that she had battled depression in the past. I cannot recall reading about any case of suicide where the person had no previous health issues, no recent arguments or life events that upset them so badly. I am sure there are examples but would think it unusual.

There was a recent case of a young military man who went missing on his way to a Super Bowl party. His apartment was ransacked and his truck found close to a bridge. His family is convinced foul play is involved but it seems to have gone quiet especially since he was not found. Another man went missing at a stadium and the public was basically told he put himself in a trash chute. That wasn't the case,

I fear that in these cases we have murderers who appear to have knowingly or unbeknownst to them, staged a suicide or accident and then the public feels the victim staged a homocide to throw people off.

I have no ties to anyone here so if I felt suicide was likely I would say it but CD was claustrophobic, had no known issues with health or anyone around her. Her personal item are missing and her car doors were locked. I don't think anyone stole all of those items after the fact. If she disposed of them are there any nearby trash recepticles and if so are there cameras near them?

I would hope every effort to locate the cameras in the area of the car was made as they may show something odd. I know one murderer in my area was targeted because he happened to pass by the camera twice and was missing his jacket the second time and viably anxious. He couldn't produce the jacket but it was later found with the victims blood on it .

I am sorry but I just cannot see Cheryl's death as a homicide. It would be far too bizarre for a typical morning on the way to be work, to be waylaid and killed in this manner, unless she was a spy or had a very specific, evil, enemy. Or somene with something to gain by her death looking like a suicide. And if so, that would likely have been discovered or already known. Jmo

Thing is (for me anyway) there probably were things going on in her life that her mom and son and Maybe Husband were not aware of.
But IMO someone is very aware of the why it happened.

JMVOO I don't believe she was murdered.

I wonder if she had a close friend she would or could talk to?

I think when your suicidal your claustrophobia is not an issue any longer.
