If he was the victim of identity theft, why would someone have all HER bank information. At that age, I didn't have a clue what my parent's social security numbers were or their passcodes.Jacob's mother was recently featured in a Podcast called The Vanished (The Vanished Podcast) in which she shared some updates on his case.
One major update is that they did a search for him in a wooded area near where he went missing. While they didn't find Jacob, they did find another missing young man named Shawn Bond (Remains found on Tulalip Reservation were those of man missing since 2015). This was the second biggest search performed in Washington history.
Second, the mother said that she was notified after the search that someone had tried to take all the money from her bank account, and had her name, social security number, pass codes etc. When she spoke to the bank, they told her that this man tried to authorize a transfer in the name of Jacob Hilkin. She believes, as I took it, that he was the victim of identity theft, and that someone may have robbed him and stolen his identity. This was reported to the police, but she was told that they likely wouldn't subpoena the phone call, and that the information likely wouldn't be turned over to the homicide detectives currently on the case.
