Snohomish County Cold Case Card with Kelly's photo/case
Kelly was a beautiful and fun 37 year old divorcee living with her two dogs in a farmhouse next to the Pilchuck River in Machias (located between Snohomish and Lake Stevens, WA). Originally a hairdresser, she'd become a dump truck driver and owned her own truck, Extreme Rock, a point of pride for her. There were few female owner/operators at the time.

Kelly was last seen around 4pm on August 18th on her own back porch. The next day she didn't show up for work, very unusual for her. She was usually early, not late. Concerned co-workers called and police found her body in the Pilchuck River, partially buried, on August 20th. There has never been an arrest made in her case.

PS - Machias is an incredibly small area and Kelly was murdered just a few weeks after Shelby Wright disappeared. Although there's likely not a connection between the missing 14 year old boy and the murder of a 37 year old woman (who detectives believe knew her attacker), it is weird that lightning struck twice in this incredibly small area/time frame. They lived about two miles away from each other, in a sleepy small town.
