Kirkland to get new shelter for women and families, as Eastside homeless population rises

On a freezing night in January, the body of a woman was found in an alleyway outside a Kirkland church where a local agency housed one of its roving emergency shelters. The shelter wasn’t open at that time.

Jo" was the possible name of a woman found dead in Kirkland, Washington. She died from hypothermia and is presumed to have been homeless.

Employees with the agency, The Sophia Way, think the woman may have come to the site thinking that the shelter was open before she died of hypothermia. Some recognized her, but haven’t been able to confirm her last name. She remains unidentified.

She kind of has the same features. I'd say the same smile, but it's hard to say what the deceased woman looked like in real life.

The body of an adult mixed race female was found in the 700 block of 1st Street, Kirkland. She appears to be 30-60 years old with a height of 5'5" and weight of 149 pounds. She has an old cesarean section scar. At the time of death, she was wearing an unnamed medical facility bracelet bearing the name "DOE, JO", with an admission date of January 10, 2019. She died from hypothermia and was presumed to be homeless.
