BBM.. This is the first I read this time line of 8:30 - 10 pm,
I thought it was 9:00 ?

"Scott told KXRO that several tips have been received and investigators would like to talk to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in McCleary, a tiny town of only about 1,500, between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday when Lindsey failed to return home"

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,529582,00.html

They probably want to talk to people who might have seen her before she got to her friends house as well as after she had left there.
Maybe something happened on the way that might hold a clue.

Maybe they are thinking someone was watching her before the 9;15pm timeline.

That is why I want to know about the person who sent the brother home after their spat about the bike while she was walking to the friends house. In another report from the sheriff he stated that it was confirmed she was alone walking back home..no friend. I also don't like that the dogs did not pick up her scent. Does any one know for sure if the dogs picked up anything at all? I mean anything!

Sorry if this has been posted. It is the firs I have read in regards to her father speaking:

Missing Girl's Father: 'I Just Want My Daughter'

Lindsey’s father, Greg Baum, lives in Tennessee and has been trying to come to McCleary, but is getting ready to deploy to Iraq. He said he feel helpless, but knows the police are doing all they can.

"Right now I'm just praying that she's found and she's found safe," Lindsey’s father said.

Two Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Officials worked endlessly Wednesday sorting through one-third of McCleary’s garbage, hoping to find a clue that could lead to Lindsey.

The girl’s route home would have taken her from her friend’s house in the 600 block of Maple Street, along the residential street with no sidewalks.

She would have walked down Maple and would have had to cross 3rd Street, which is a main road in the town and has a crosswalk. At that point she would have had a short walk through a a commercial area, including a nearby bus station and a gas station. She would have had to cross the larger street, then back onto a residential street without a sidewalk and head down to her house at the 300 block of Mommsen Street, a dead-end residential neighborhood within view of the police station.

But a minute or two before she crossed 3rd Street, she disappeared. A neighbor spotted her about two-thirds of the way home, Scott said

I hope you got a pic of "Mark" to give to LE.
Please say yes, tia.
:)

No, reason being self preservation. Toward the end he was getting angry & that (imo) certainly would've set him off. He'd just exited a store (w/more beer) behind us so i wasn't too concerned at his anonymity. (not exactly a speed walker either) I'm sure people in the area know who he is. I wasn't looking to stir up/cause trouble. I'd already dealt w/some looks as it was.

Hi All,

First time here. I have been reading websleuths for a few months now, but had not joined until yesterday.

I live in McCleary, WA and would like to point out a few things about our little town. In order to do that, please refer to the map I am going to try and post below.

Maple is a two-way street, by the way. The only one-way that I know of is right there parallel to 3rd street.

3rd street and Simpson are the two busiest streets. McCleary is located at a junction that causes this. Thus we get a lot of out-of-towners driving through to get the main highway or headed towards the Casino. So, it may be a small town, but it sees it's share of traffic.

Although you can't tell from the map very easily, 3rd street is on a pretty good incline from South to North. So as you head into town, you must ride the brakes not to exceed the 25 mph speed limit. This in turn has caused a police officer to often sit and radar from the bottom of the hill, on the side of the police station. This vehicle is parked there a lot and it's hard to tell if someone is in it or not. This being the case, if Lindsey was abducted on 3rd street, that person would be taking an awful chance that someone might be in the police vehicle and witness the abduction, if it was some just driving through. (I do not know if the police vehicle was there that night at the time Lindsey would have been passing through.) The gas station is pretty bright too. I think it is unlikely though that she would have been abducted on that main street unless someone knew no one was in the police car or it had just left. This town is pretty small, it doesn't take long to patrol it. Also, she does not have to walk up 3rd street as the route would suggest. She could have easily crossed 3rd and walked behind the gas station to cut through onto Mommsen St.

Businesses open in the area at the time would have been the convience store, the gas station, the local tavern and the hospital, all noted on the map. Other than that, the town is pretty dead after 9:00pm, even on Friday and Saturday nights. It's possible the perp could have been a customer / visitor at one of these establishments or was just headed through.

This area is dense with timber also. In any direction you can go are wooded side roads just outside of town.

Well that's my 2 cents. Hope it helps clear some things up.

Welcome to WS~ Your map helped me a lot and the explanation of the terrain. These are things you can't know unless you are there. :)

It does bother me they do not find her on the camera at all at the station. You are right tho...the perp could have been a customer/visitor at those places. I hope they talked to everyone especially at the bar that night.
The perp could have done whatever to Lindsey and come back to the tavern.

Why do they have a bus station if no bus stops there? I thought it was determined Greyhound doesn't go through McLeary?

The Grays Harbor Transit goes through there on it's way to Olympia.

I would like to see a picture too:blowkiss:

She walked really close to the police station and that town sure is small. I would imagine they have a few people spotted on the surveillance video and know who was a round at that time as has been discussed already.

I'm jumping ahead here...hopefully she's found safe and I'm being a *advertiser censored*, but, I just put the address into google earth.
As far as the alternate route (i'm still on page 3, but wanted to go ahead and throw it out as I know someone will back it up or shoot it down by the time i get here :), what about this:
the house is between 7th and 6th. The girl watched her until she got to 6th. If she then turns south on 5th, there is a little alley/road that runs east into main st. again another little alley? right there takes her across 3rd SOUTH of the gas station and directly onto pine. IF she was going by that lady's house, she could have then just turned north on first, and been right there.
THere is one big clump of trees (maybe lot size?) that she would have had to pass.
Has anyone noticed the HUGE amount of forestry that is directly east of their house.....if she's in there, OMG, it's endless.

You could always give LE enough for a sketch if they needed one tho...yes? ;) You should sit down while it is fresh in your memory and write out everything you can recall about the person...just in case he isn't a local that everyone knows.

The town of McCleary in Grays Harbor County isn't giving up hope, but law enforcement officials have suspended their search and rescue efforts for 10-year-old Lindsey Baum.

While the investigation continues, crews have stopped combing the area for the girl.

Baum vanished Friday night while walking home from her friend's house.

On Wednesday, volunteers continued to hand-out flyers to people driving through town, while search crews went door to door looking for clues with their dogs and several police agencies including the FBI checked on sex offenders and followed-up on tips from the community.

:bang: LOL I wasn't thinking about other bus lines! Thanks and Welcome to WS~

Does the bus station have surveillance cams to know who is hanging around the station?

I do not believe the start point on that map is accurate. 647 is not between 5th & 6th. It's basically on a full dead end right next to 655 which runs up against the water treatment plant. 655 is the last house (iirc) on Maple.

One thing this map does have right though (where the Bing Map Doesn't) is 8th & 9th do not connect to Maple.

10th is the road that is right next to/left of the word 'McCleary' - it's not marked.
