Something to do with this murder? Or years ago? Sorry to hound you but I just dont remember seeing anything about it. I was online last night when you posted other things but I dont remember anything about the house itself.

I don't believe it was related to this murder. Probably years ago. I don't know.

Not last night--Monday night.

Ok, I will stop now. I sure wish I would have seen/read what you are referring to. It is going to drive me batty now... Thank you for everything you have already said...

I believe that once consent is given to LE arguing that they needed a search warrant would be futile. If you give your consent for police to enter your home and as they are questioning you, they notice you are packaging Meth on the coffee table. I am sorry, but I don’t think you can argue they needed a search warrant.

In turn if you denied the police the right to enter your home, I think you would go to the next level of problems and issues.

I would bet the same would go for cell phone records. If MC was my daughter and she was missing the police would have her cell phone records that day or the next at the very latest.

You're assuming consent was given. If valid consent was given, then a search warrant is not needed.

What I'm arguing is that, if there was no valid consent to either enter or search the Spec house, then LE got a search warrant. And, in order to get a search warrant, LE had probable cause that the Spec house contained evidence of MC's murder.

And, in order for LE to establish sufficient probable cause, they must know much more about what is in the Spec house or what was done therein than we have posted herein. And this is my narrow point, that LE had good information regarding the Spec house early on in this case.

Yeah, I really got it from her last night. My ears are still ringing.

I'd rather not discuss the "creepy" thing. It's just too creepy to discuss. I already did so, but then I got too creeped out about it.

Sorry Del Rio - didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. Just to clarify, when I asked about the creepy thing, I meant: what would the perp have found creepy about the place? Not: why is the place creepy in relation to this crime? Either way, I won't pursue it any further on this thread.

Exactly. We know LE got warrants for MC's cell phone records. Therefore, either RC and/or WC refused to give consent to LE to obtain MC's cell phone records. ASSUMING it was WC who refused to give consent regarding MC's cell phone records, then why on earth would she consent to a search of the Spec house?

There seems to be a discrepancy about the weather that day. Girlfawkes had posted back on the 1st thread that the day Mackenzie went missing (the 9th) was overcast.

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - Found Deceased WA - Mackenzie Cowell, 17, missing 2/9/10, Orondo/Wenatchee

I've been trying to dig up the historical weather data for that day, but so far with not much luck as to whether it was overcast, cloudy or sunny.

I know the weather report was for kind of a mixed bag and I recall reading this post as well. But, in checking my emails, I see that a friend of mine and I exchanged email at 11:46 AM on Feb 9th where my friend stated that "the sun just came out and it's beautiful". This friend was in Cashmere at the time- about 10 miles north of Wenatchee. I recall that a bit after 2:00 PM, having wrapped up some work, I looked out my front window- which overlooks much of the valley- and decided to go for a walk. It was so nice I kept walking and the walk turnd into a hike up Saddlerock, which I accomplished in running shoes, jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. It was sunny and mid 40s. I recall I got back home a bit after 3 PM (I remember these times based upon what programs were on TV) and it was still nice out.

Now, it may have rained later. I'm unsure. I went out that evening, to a high school basketball game and do not recall the weather being bad. I recall standing outside for a brief period and chatting with a friend before I got in my car, so I dont think it was too bad and likely not raining much, if at all at that time.

It's possible that they needed to obtain warrants for the "ping" record information and not her actual phone records. I can't imagine either one of her parents not giving consent for LE to view her regular phone records. That would be VERY suspicious!

Miss Maple, can you tell us if him and WC are still together? I think that is the million dollar question right now. Any info on this would be MUCH appreciated!!! :)

From what I've seen/heard of their relationship, it's always been one of those on again off again types. AFAIK it is currently on, but that has not been the case throughout the entire investigation. This is what a reliable source tells me.

Well, if WC is still with this guy then there is NO WAY he is a suspect in the eyes of LE. I mean come on, would you stay with someone that you suspected of murdering your daughter? I think not. Hmmm. This really throws a wrench into my theory... This is one TWISTED case!

I worked in a law firm for years, and for many things like medical and bank info, we had to request/subpoena them from the originating party (hospital, doctor, bank, credit company, etc.) even if we had copies from the client.

The reason was that unless a set of records comes from the source, it isn't considered "clean" or "complete," because any other party could redact or otherwise alter them.

Members of the Wenatchee Police Department's VIPs, or Volunteers in Police Service, distributed flyers at area businesses today asking people with information about the murder of 17 year old Mackenzie Cowell to contact authorities.

Investigation task-force spokesman, Captain Doug Jones says the reward fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the has grown considerably. Contributions from a group called Wenatchee Valley Citizens Against Crime has pushed the reward fund to 40 thousand dollars. The 24 hour RiverCom tip line is (509) 663-9911. If you want to make an anonymous tip, you can call the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line at (509) 888-4280 on weekdays between seven a.m. and five p.m.

So far, no suspects or persons of interest have been identified in the killing. Jones says while authorities continue to investigate the case diligently, chasing down leads, authorities are also playing a waiting game. Jones says they are waiting on results from the crime lab. Things such as trace evidence from where Cowell's body was found and from where her car was located.

eta: I see this was yesterday

as per my link (^) interesting/good that LE did have trace evidence from where the car was located. Very good news indeed.

:D that made me chuckle...Hope everything is better for Del Rio!!

Just to play devil's advocate, who washes their car on a rainy day.
Except to say, Whenever I wash my car - it rains!

I don't believe that she did get her car washed. I was at the car wash today (the one next to Dusty's) and inquired to the attendant about the rumor and he looked surprised and said that he didn't know anything about it. I would assume that if it were a different attendant that seen her, that he would have at least told his buddy that worked with him. If I am mistaken about which car wash, I appologize.

Hi Miss Maple - Do you have any knowledge as to whether or not JF happens to own a boat?

February 9th was a clear, nice day in Wenatchee. It was sunny and dry. I now remember that was the day- I took a hike up Saddlerock at about 2:30 in the afternoon. The hike was a bit muddy in spots, but not bad.

I recall the weather, in Wenatchee, February 9 being about 45 degrees and cloudy, at 4 pm.

PS: No, it didn't rain. It got cloudier as the day ended, but there was no rain. I remember what i did that day and night...that's how I recall the weather.

Now say someone saw a large light SUV pull up to the spec house and load up something, and then later a neighbor heads over to see what is going on because seeing someone at the spec house is not a familiar sight. Is that cause for a search warrant? And also, in response to someone's question, there was a couple scheduled to view the spec house later that week and they were questioned by LE...

I just noticed on Mackenzie's FB page that she is a fan of both

Evergreen's Issaquah Imports Automotive Dealer / Vehicle Service
and
Evergreen Ford Automotive Dealer / Vehicle Service

Could this indicate she was in the market for a car? Or what? :waitasec:

One of MC's male friends list Evergreen Ford as his place of employment in Issaquah. His initials are JR. His is most definitely not a minor, since he graduated from college in '08.

ETA: He is also a fan of "Not Being Stabbed Repeatedly." Probably not related, but to help ID him for those searching.

ETA MORE: He is also friends with WC and MC's brothers. I'm thinking this is a family friend who asked all of his FB friends to be a fan of where he worked. MOO

Thanks. Now that you mention it, and without even looking at her FB page, I think I remember that guy. Mainly because he seemed like a bit of a weirdo to me. JM-gut reaction-O!
