The book "The death of innocence" John and Patsy wrote. I think 2 people sued them because they were named as suspects in the book but i'm not 100% sure.

OK. I have seen one transcribed deposition in Stephen Miles' case against the NE, but this is a "friendly" deposition and not intended to establish JR's guilt in the case.

Adding the URL because there is a lot here about his company, its relationship to Lockheed Martin, and even the fact that he and Patsy socialized with Dr. Bouef and his wife! (p. 39)

the ones recorded on youtube are not very friendly. boring but not friendly. i think it is when they are sued for what they wrote in their book. not sure if there are others

A big reason the Ramseys want CBS to settle, is not simply for the money but the publicity they will get from it. It doesn't really matter if CBS settles for a $1 (as long as the figure isn't publicized), the Ramseys will consider it a success.

I'm not sure. Lin Wood seems to be driving this train and he is only in it for the money. There's a huge risk that a suit against CBS would once and for all blow the lid off the case and make it clear to everyone that Burke did it and John helped cover it up. The other entities/people they've sued either didn't know enough about the case or didn't have the funds to defend an expensive lawsuit. CBS has the experts and the funds. And they'll hire top notch attorneys the likes of which Wood probably hasn't seen in his prior Ramsey lawsuits.

If anyone has not seen the style of boots that Burke told Phil he had with compasses on the lace, here it is thanks to Koldkase:

Here's the PR promo from the Hi-Tec company (bbm):

Hi-Tec Sports will launch hikers promo

MODESTO, Calif. - Hi-Tec Sports USA will step up the marketing of its new children's outdoor hiking boot with an incentive campaign centered around the 500th anniversary of Columbus' voyage to the New World.

The company plans to offer posters, stickers and other amenities as part of a Navigators' Club that children can join when they purchase an item in the new Navigators' series.

Hi-Tec unveiled an outdoor boot called the Columbus as part of the series. The shoe features a compass tied to the laces. It comes in mochaspruce and navy, priced to retail at $44.95.

Hi-Tec will coordinate the club membership in Modesto and will send promotional posters with new orders. Details of the promotion will be offered to children in product boxes.

David Pompel, marketing manager, said he expects the promotion to spur children's sales. He reported company-wide sales for Hi-Tec should grow by 60 percent this year.

"When the kids get something in the box, they get excited," he said. Pompel added that Hi-Tec's rugged outdoor look is growing more popular as children focus on the environment.

"We're getting into department stores where the athletic look is dying. We try to make ties to positive values like recycling and the environment."

So will the general public. Public only cares about headlines. "CBS settles in Burke Ramsey defamation lawsuit" will equal "CBS was wrong in blaming Burke for the crime".

Say what you will about the Ramseys and their character(or lack of it), they have a good track record when it comes to spin control. It has already played into their hands. The public talked about these docs for a few days, the short attention span of the public already has them thinking about Pitt-Jolie, election, cop shootings, etc. and the last word they heard about the JB case is Burke suing because he was named responsible for the crime.

The ball is once again in their court.

THanks for posting that info otg. I had no idea those boots were made here and I live in Modesto. Learn something new every day. I've said this several times but you are truly an asset to this community. Some people have raved(publicly and privately) on a lot of the transcripts and other info I post but you go above and beyond the call of duty. In one of these threads(there's so many now and tons of posts to scroll through) you posted a pic of the basement where you noticed tape and some other things no one had picked up on before. I was trying to find that again this morning but I didn't see it.

Re-reading transcripts of 1996 and 1997 interviews of PR and JR (from a candy rose) takes on new meaning since I've shifted my focus from PDI to BDI. I use to think, well of course they're minimizing BR's footprint in this whole mess - he's just a kid and has nothing to do with it. But now it appears they are covering for him big time!

What if what Burke was recalling regarding the flashlight and going back downstairs *did* occur, but he was misremembering the exact timing or circumstances surrounding these? What if he had done the head bash, then JR, planning to do the staging, escorted Burke to bed THEN, using the flashlight (not wanting lights turned on in the house). And what if Burke's recollection of getting out of bed and going back downstairs was when he went down to see what was going on during the 911 call? Just contemplating, because JR escorting Burke to bed using a flashlight instead of turning on the lights is just so weird.

I'm sure others have said this same thing in one of these many threads but what blows me away now about this flashlight issue is how both John and Burke are using it to get around the house. Why on earth are these people doing this in what is basically a mansion which has tons of lights? It might come across as normal if the electricity had went out that night but it didn't. They're using flashlights and also had a pair of night vision goggles.

These people were really strange....

Well there wasn't a whole lot done with the garrote. I'm thinking they went into that a bit further and CBS had second thoughts about doing that.

Yes, I agree they soft-pedaled the sexual abuse. In reading last night about the autopsy in the Kolar book, the ME described the hymen as shriveled and retracted, consistent with digital penetration. He believed this to be the result of past sexual abuse. There is always lots of discussion about vaginal irritation....frequently linked to bed wetting in young females. But, this is the first time I had read anything about the hymen findings.

(rsbm out of modesty :blushing:)

(Thanks, singularity, I appreciate that.)

I think the following is what you're referring to. The dispenser does have a roll of tape in it, and it is black. I don't know that it would match what was place over her mouth, but it does show (along with the boxes in the other post) that Patsy lied in her interview about never having that kind of tape. It also shows that investigators very likely didn't notice it since it wasn't taken into evidence.

how many times have the ramsey's sued or been sued over this case? seems there is a mountain of depositions out there. Do you think JR wants to go through another round? A law firm could have made a living on this case for sure.

Make that....did make a living. Remember, JR's computer business, Access Graphics was being sold to Lockheed Martin around the time of the murder.....1 billion?

This has been bugging me since I heard about it too.

Is it possible that JB was already in bed asleep by this time, so the lights were off on the floor which JB and Burke shared, and John didn't want to switch on the main lights on that floor to avoid waking her up? (even if her door was closed, it could still wake her up.. I know I always had my bedroom door closed as a kid but if anyone switched on the lights on the landing I would wake up because the light would show under my door.) That could explain using the flashlight, and maybe John left it in Burke's room and made his own way back in the dark? I know I'm fine with walking from room to room in the dark on my own, as an adult, but if I had a child with me I would probably want some light to make sure they didn't trip or anything. Maybe he used the flashlight to get Burke to his room because it wasn't as bright as switching on the main lights, then left it there, making his own way back in the dark?

Maybe I'm reaching here I don't know. Just trying to think of scenarios that make at least a little sense!

All MOO :)

Hey everyone,

I will be closing this thread shortly to start a new one. BRB

Problem is....patsy in an interview said they always left lights on because of the stairs and weird turns in the house. So it wasn't that dark
