Oh C'mon! The botanist was also an animal expert about dogs burying bones. She's a rennasaince woman.

Hold that thought now, Dan - Remember, she also gave talks to dog handlers, and, had Baez and team known that, I'm sure they could have used her to "interview" the cadavor dogs to see if they were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress!

Another "2-fer". {or 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 specialist all rolled into one, once again}

Hi everyone, first time posting, long time reading. I think JB proved today that he is purposely trying to throw this trial so that when ICA gets convicted she will be able to get an appeal based on ineffective defense. My question is if she does win an appeal does she have to keep the same lawyers or can she start over with new ones?

WELCOME to the board!!!!

It's always nice to have new members.

No, she won't be graced with the same attorney's.

They'll be jumping ship as soon as they walk out of the court house once Judge Belvin has signed the final papers on her.

She'll be assigned a competant team, or one or 2 to see that things are done right, at the expense once again, on the hard working backs of the taxpayers of Florida.
And, she won't be steering the new ship like we've seen her do this one.

I learned that George finally got his "stuff" (to put it nicely) out of Cindy's possession and came thru for Caylee today. He finally figured out that it wasn't too late to do the right thing by his granddaughter and place the blame where he knew it belonged. (I do think he tried at first, but Cindy smacked him down - until today.)

I also learned there are some pretty darn kooky people out there that get paid lots of money for questionable theories/statements (speaking of the grief counselor, as that could apply to others in this case, lol). Well, I guess I already knew that but today reminded me...

PS- The one thing I did NOT learn today is what a bad lawyer Baez is...have seen it from day 1, as most of us here have, and if anything, he's gotten worse over these three years.

I have a feeling when he said today on the stand that "I let Caylee down" he wasn't just talking about before she went missing.

Welcome!

I don't think ICA will get ineffective defense per se since she has CM and AF, not just JB but there are definitely a lifetime of opportunities for appeal and she will definitely throw JB under the bus big time.

In some ways we are better served if she gets LIFE versus DP since her appeal options will be more limited. ICA will make a career out of poking holes and retrying this case, both in her mind and with any attorney that will assist her for their 15 mins.

As was stated, if ICA doesn't testify then she can come up with a whole new defense next time.

I learned that some mothers sit in the cemetery with an umbrella so their child wouldn't be alone in the dark and the rain. Some put theirs in trash bags.

Wow. I did not expect the reaction I just had when I read this.

I have tears just streaming right now.

Bless little Caylee Marie.

God bless her.

I learned that the loud *thud* I heard when the grief lady was on the stand was not just me falling out of chair but also many WSs hitting the floor at the same time.

Quick! Someone email this to the SAO so they can fit it into their closing. Such an insightful post, and so true...there are other "Casey's" out there... *shuddering at the thought*

Post of the day for me...my smilies aren't working, so I couldn't do the little sign for you.

I learned that if I'm looking to explain a client's bizarre behavior to a jury I'm going to get an actual psychologist, not a therapist lady who does workshops/motivational speaking on the side.

While I think ICA is a baby killer and I don't want her to ever breathe my air, there is a reason that the defense witness are sub par compared to the SA.

They don't have any money. JB wants the notoriety but he can't pay for it! His witness list is less that stellar as far as "experts" are concerned. Most are just like him, they want the notoriety, money be damned if they end up on Good Morning America to sell a book or something.. There is always a crate of Oranges, too.

I did some digging and found the book the grief expert was talking about (children and terrorism etc.) and it wasn't published by the Parents magazine, it was published by the Child magazine. It makes no difference since neither of them are peer reviewed but it got me wondering if she has some memory issues and if yes, could she follow DS's long and complex hypothetical? (I had trouble following it anyway...)

I am planning on going back and watching it again.. when i build up some strength lol...... i was at work when i saw it today.. and there was one point when ds was doing all the assuming.. that the lady had the most lost look on her face.. cracked me up

Jose had $275,000 to be used in KCs defense. $200,000 that was made by selling photos of Caylee, so it was blood money IMO. What exactly has Jose spent all of that money on? Apparently not on depositions, expert witnesses or anything else that would help the defense. Sorry but I don't believe that the reason Jose has "sub par" expert witnesses is because of a lack of money. I believe that Jose has "sub par" witnesses because a good or decent expert would not touch this case with a ten foot pole after seeing the evidence against KC.

MOO

I learned many years ago that what goes around -comes around. JB knows GA is innocent yet attacked him over and over again on the stand today.

I know karma will bite his fat --- some day.

It's biting him the arse every day when he enters the courtroom!:great:

I suspect that the reason these experts don't seem very good is that Baez did not give them the facts of the case. He's probably well aware that if they knew the facts, they would come to very different conclusions than they did come to. So they come in and get blindsided when the prosecution brings up all the things they didn't know before, and all of them (iirc) have admitted that, taking into consideration the additional facts given, their opinion was altered to a greater or lesser degree. So then, they look like they're sub-par. I bet they're all furious with Baez.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Plus, he didn't tell them he needed written, detailed reports until way late in the "game."

wow:floorlaugh:now that was funny! The sad thing is, that if jb read your post, he might be tempted to do just that!

What you said about ICA poking holes is the thing that has bothered me when it comes to DP/LWOP. I don't want her to have a career. I don't want her to have an even semi normal life. Never hear an encouraging word. I want her to feel like she has been dumped on the side of the road.

I am aware that she will have access to law library etc on DR. But her life on DR is miles away from her LWOP status even if she is in protective custody.

I am also aware as a Fl taxpayer that a DP decision is more costly. Some things you just cant put a price on. If a baby's life isn't one of them, then I don't know what is.

I agree with you about her coming up with another defense if she ever had the chance!

Take care, Robin

I learned that if someone firmly denies being a molester, they must be a molester, because who'd admit being a molester? (If Baez had any evidence of it, he wouldn't need a confession or a denial to claim both equally support the defense team's "magical thinking").

I also learned that Casey and Baez overestimated their ability to predict/manipulate the Anthony family members and their loyalty to Casey. They are all like boxes of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get when they take the stand. Shameful lies, painful truths, meltdowns, defiance... A defense theory built around wild cards is risky as hell and this is a losing hand for Baez and company... Based on how things are going, I think Mason had the right idea when he reminded the judge a few weeks back that the defense was not required to present a case. Probably would have been better to fold after the state rested. JMO...

really good post.

I agree completely :) I still think JB got them cheap though:loser:

I've got a massive headache and stomach ache. I can't remember the morning session right now. So hopefully some of our brethren will fill us in.

Somebody said KC may testify today and I'd hate to miss it but I'm sure it will be on Youtube eventually if she does.

Hope you feel better SD.

I've got one that might make you smile. I've just gotten a super duper virus protection package thingy, and when I got JB's Law Firm page up, a warning came up that it was an unsafe website

:great:

I learned that GA was impressed with RK's testimony and decided it was time to grow a pair. I really think seeing RK stand up to CM shook something awake in GA. Did you notice today he actually answered a fewe question with a yes or no (huge for an anthony) and he kept insisting on clairification on dates and times?
