What would the state like to show in opening arguments?

I agree that they should play a video. I think they should play the one of her with her great grandfather. It's really touching especially when she gives him a hug and a kiss.

And preface it to the jury as the last pics ever taken of Caylee (besides her autopsy pics). Let Jury know that up front so they will feel the same way we do. The video is touching as it is, when you add to it the knowledge it was the last pics of Caylee alive, it's even more so. JMO.

I think they should point out that the pontiac was impounded on such and such date, and a hair with a death band on it was found in the trunk. Therefore Caylee was dead before the car was impounded, thereby Casey lied to the police about her being missing at all, plus her statement about talking to Caylee on July 15. Not physically possible to talk to a dead person on the phone. Why would someone lie about that, if they were not the killer?

Edited to add....the forensic botany shows she was disposed of in the woods prior to that date as well.

I wonder how long a body would be decomposing before a hair became banded and fell out, leaving the root tip. Just curious.

Thank you. I've been looking for this particular part where HHJP refers to the seven minutes. I may be way off base here, but what I took away from this exchange is that the Judge would give them seven minutes each (sometime Sunday afternoon) to argue over whether or not the DT and SA should exchange/share opening statements with each other and what is and isn't acceptable during opening statements if they can't work it out for themselves.

Seven minutes is not a lot of time for opening statements and I would find it hard to believe that HHJP would limit them to that. But I could be wrong. JMO and all that...

Some atty/ reporter said something about OS taking 4 hrs each. DT will be like :boohoo::liar: .

Why the heck would Pros want to give a copy of their opening statement to the DT, and why would the Pros want a copy of whatever BS Jose will be trying to serve up? Jose is an *** for whining about this. Does he want the Pros to put HIS whole case on for him? He's like a little kindergardner, and sooooooo out of his element in the courtroom JMO.

If I were the SA, I would want to show a montage of pictures that show Caylee as she was and as she became at the hands of ICA. I would start with a short snippett of the video of her singing "You Are My Sunshine", then her hugging GGPP, then the trunk of the car, then the site where her remains were found. Show the beautiful pic we have all seen so many times with those big brown eyes flashing innocence, then the pic of KC with the burrito, then KC with the other girl dancing at Fusion, then the stained liner of her Pontiac trunk. Picture of Caylee alive, picture of KC drinking beer, picture of the garbage bag she was found in. Picture of Caylee alive, picture of KC sitting on TL and posing, picture of the duct tape pieces. Picture of Caylee alive, picture of the tattoo, an enhanced picture of the stain on the trunk liner, much as we have enhanced here, and have the 911 call playing as the stain is enhanced more and more to show what we have seen here. Leave that stain on the screen and play a loop of KC's voice saying, "Zeniada Fernandez Gonzalas", "31 Days", "Because I Lied". IMO, that would pretty much sum up the facts of this case and drive home the truth so that none of the BS that the DT will present would even leave a mark.

Freedom and escape from controlling parents. She wanted to live the single life, evidence being the pictures, how KC moved from guy to guy as well her pathological lying to everyone about everything. She couldn't even fess up as to who is Caylee's dad.

Resentment of being a mother, resentment of her mother, deep seated hatred for her circumstances. She wanted to be free.

If I were them, I would start by showing the text messages where she is communicating with various boyfriends and other friends about how she could not do anything with them because she didn't have anyone to watch Caylee or because her mother was unavailable. Show the "Diary Of Days" and the "Bella Vita" tattoo, along with the party pics and I think a clear picture can be made of a young woman who felt trapped by motherhood and wanted a more carefree life of parties and trips to Puerto Rico.

While I feel sympathy for ICA's family, I believe they are MAJOR contributors to ICA's behavior in every respect.

When the trial starts it is of so much interest to me how CA will conduct herself in the courtroom.

Any guesses if she will be able to maintain her composure and be quiet each and every day in the courtroom?

I do believe GA will and LA will but not taking any bets on CA. Expecting the deputies to escort her out a couple of times before His Honor removes her permanently.

Any expectations or thoughts?

I think this is a good point too, pictures of Caylee's remains could be too intense to use in an opener. Facts are important and I'd think the prosecutors want the jury to have a very clear understanding of them.

It seems like a fine line to walk, don't you think? Everyone here makes good points about what should be used in opening statements. I can't imagine what the process to create them is like. So many decisions, so much is at stake. Hats off to the prosecutors for all the hard work they put into getting justice for Caylee.

I also appreciate the jurors as well. Their sacrifices are many, but more than anything else they are going to have to look at evidence that I would just be devastating for me to see. That really is a great burden for them to bear in bringing Caylee's killer to justice. They're heros.

Putting the pics of her skeletal remains in OS would be tacky. I know the Pros. has more class and respect for Caylee to do that. They will save those pics for the proper time. Someone as stupid as Baez would be the type to put those pics up ASAP. I expect many many more stupid moves by him and his cohorts before the trial is over.

Agreed. But I don't think HJP will give her numerous chances to contain herself. I'm guessing it will be one strike and she's outta there for good. As for GA, I don't think he's going to be able to contain his facial grimaces and shaking of his head as we've all seen in the past. It will be interesting to see.

I think it stems from ICA personally. She simply does not and cannot stand to hear JA speak of the killer applying the masking tape and goodness knows what else! Just like now they must refer to Cayell as the "alleged victim"! It's uetterly ridiculous some of the requests this DT has made. Sheesh :banghead:

I wish the SA could play the "sunshine" video as part of their opening- to put Caylee's face, as a living, breathing baby foremost in the jurors minds. Most people are very visual and that could help the jury see Caylee, not just generic bones when the autopsy photos come in later. JMO

I think the prosecution is going to weave a very ugly picture of KC initially and expose her lies. I believe the jurors will be seething at that point. Then, they will show videos and pictures of Caylee alive and smiling, point back to KC, and say this is the woman, her mother, who killed her.

I think the state should assure the jury that once a timeline is established, through witnesses, evidence, and KC's own admissions, that they will surely have a logical and reasoned understanding of what happened to a beautiful two year old child and that REASONABLE doubt went out the window a long time ago-that the defense will try to place stumbling blocks in their way that are not reasonable and that it's human nature to expect the best out of a once promising Casey Anthony, but that evil does exist and the facts, just the facts, will demonstrate that she made an evil decision.
Even the religious, non-judgemental juror can understand good and evil, it is at the foundation of religion and faith-And the state can appeal to her, too, that it is not about judging KC's soul, it is about her actions and the consequences of those actions.
