that i can totally believe. dionne warwick is a piece of work and i say that based on the experience of someone i know first-hand who had to deal with her. that said, all you have to do to see her true personality is watch her appearance on ''the apprentice.'' scary woman. spiteful, bitter, and cruel.
i was beyond shocked to find myself thinking well of her yesterday! i didn't think she had 4 hours of calm and kindness in her!
All of thse people come from a gospel music background, many with family
who were memebrs of gospel groups. Warwick's partnership with
Bacharach is what brought her real prominence, imo, and she never was
quite the same after that; she fell back on pursuing her degrees in music
education only to emerge as a "learned singer" and educator, claiming
academic credentials, while still lingering for 'pop' recognition.
Trying to sort these things out and keeping track of what these people are
doing (or claiming) is like herding cats. I just would not get into a poker
game with them! (anything could happen and it would be messy!) :waitasec:
Here's quote from EdMcMahon from those days:
"When I was on with Johnny, Dionne Warwick was bigger than big. If it wasn't the Beatles or
Simon and Garfunkle or the Rolling Stones it was DIONNE Warwick. In fact, her work was so
popular we could never get enough. She worked with Burt Bacharach and Hal David - they
wrote the music and she sang it. She came on our show and Johnny called her Dianne
instead of Dionne. She never lost her poise. But CBS heard about it the next morning.
The poor guy, Johnny, did not get fired. ".
